  4. It’s brilliant here we have a bloke that welded a wheel arch on a transit van with a cheap mig welder telling a geezer that does it for a living how to do it properly and what kit to buy lol, there are many times in life we’re saying nothing makes you look more intelligent than throwing your hat in the ring and this may have just been one of those moments lol

  7. @Francie listen to the boys who know how to weld and do it as a job not mchull who's better than anyone at anything.. Take stevet up on the offer if he's close by it's always better to see how its done. I can weld, been doing it over 20yrs on cars, trucks, building trailers and towbars but that's totally different than the likes of what borr does . 'He does proper welding'

  8. It's a broad question, as several processes, I'd start on stick , it teaches fundamental knowledge, start stops, porosity , amps, positional can use old scrap steel, doesn't require gas . Rods need to be kept warm and dry once open some 6013 3.25mm, a half decent inverter set. 13. Welding is practice practice and more practice. You need good eye hand coordination. Best to get someone to show him how to get started. A nice invertor set and some decent rods and a auto darkening helmet will get him started. Lidle helmet and invertor be fine but get decent rods. Welding can be a good trade or soul destroying. If you're ever down my way I'd gladly show him .

  21. Dear lads. Gentlemen all. I've been out of the shooting Arena for a long time. Over 6 years now. The reason was failing eyesight due to onsetting cataracts and general degradation of my eyesight due to age. I'm 66 now. This meant I could no longer focus my scopes to shoot to a high standard of accuracy. As I am a professional artist and illustrator this has been a very worrying time for my career and my shooting has had to take a long backseat. Imagine trying to shoot a 30 yard group with totally unfocused scopes and the target blurred and you have an idea what it's been like. Howev

  22. The more us brits and irish come back to God the less this type of stuff will happen, what do we expect when we leave the path to the lord and accept all the satanic crap thats taken over (poofery, lgbtrsturbo etc) that the rest of any connection to God they will try to erase, remember the biggest achievement satan can get is to make you believe God isnt real, so happy Easter to all who read this and may you find your way back to Jesus.

  24. Dido. I,ve said it many times, in different context, on here. Melrose is the place to go in the Scottish Borders. I was born there and schooled there never mind playing rugby on the famous Greenyards. You have Melrose Abbey, the monks gardens which my grandfather tended for many years. Incidentally , he was the last person to ring The Abbey bell. The finest of salmon runs coming up from Kelso which I know you will like. Quality accommodation with personal friends of mine. All in all, THE place to start your adventures in Edinburgh. I could without doubt, take you on a fantastic adventure in th

  32. Well... Cheap Chinese shite with no warranty is likely to pop the inverter stick welding. Couple of hundred quid is cheap in my view, mig welding without gas is a ball ache and disheartening. My set at the moment is couple of grand my colleagues is 9k lol but yep go for a Lidl welder I guess you can return it....

  34. Don’t think a lot of people are quite understanding momentum, some bigger ships can take half a mile or so to stop my little ship is approx 55 ft long 11 ft wide and weighs around 35 tons and even that takes a fair bit of stopping if you get things wrong and even if I dropped the anchor you can still travel a fair way before it all settles on the bottom and takes a good hold plus the anchor on that thing would be beyond manual handling

  35. Carp , like anything, take someone who knows what where doing to prepare it . If you someone who just salt, pepper and lemon wedge everything and expect it to taste anything but bland or muddy......yeah no. Smoked carp that's been cleaned properly is amazing . Did a herb crushed and stuff one too a while back . Over a bed of white rice wish we had more carp where we live I'd like to try it again. Was about like this little less flashy though.
