  1. I got one off my pups back last Friday from a mate, I placed her with my other mate closer to home. Wind was blowing last night although very bright. We took off anyways. (Innit to win it) . The 1st half hour we seen a few in the thermal but all on the move. We eventually landed on a nice 1 for his pup and she scoobed up no issues . Mines has had a couple more runs than her sister so she had a little more complex run which she done very well. Another for her. On the way back they managed another 1 each. Chuffed watching the 2 sisters and amazing to see them 1 after

  3. That's the truth mate both me and the wife came from similar backgrounds her father was a steel worker same as mine both of us are as thick as two short planks academically even though I have had a colourful past regarding some of my poaching exploits and have a criminal record the wife has worked in the care sector for over 30 years and both my daughters are hard working individuals and have never been in trouble with the police or been addicted to drugs and drink that to me means more than making a shed load of money as I can sit back and think both of us have not failed as parents.

  13. Me and my son climbed Scafell last year when I was 73. I was a bit worried whether I could a) get up and b) keep up. I reached the top and there was a married couple who were 86 and 84! The woman was frail in my book but God she was game. They recommended those Nordic style walking sticks. I've got some now and they really relieve pressure on the knees, especially descending. Getting old is a mix of the physical and psychological.

  15. See I don't get it myself, a dog you're gonna invest a huge amount of time and effort in, probably the last thing I'd take a punt on, especially to save a few hundred quid. I understand it can be a bit of a gamble regardless but cost of pup is probably not the reason to take one...

  19. There’s pros and cons to everything in life my old son I think the unelected leaders of the uk letting the shores of the uk getting breached by invaders right in front of our very eyes are delivering a death by a thousand cuts. If it gets any worse you’ll be conducting a rescue relief mission on these very shores why hasn’t the military stepped in and protecting our borders ?

  20. Gateshead born and still live in a Gateshead postcode despite having many opportunities to move away. A bit pathetic really. I could be living in a Baroque palace in a beautiful part of the Czech Republic if I wanted. In hindsight my decision to decline was probably wise. The person who wanted me to go live there is a Hare Krishna devotee now. She wasn't at the time. Her family own it. Me digging the local wildlife probably may be an issue now. An image has just popped into my head. Me leading a pair of terriers on couples into the woods accompanied by an entourage of devotees twirling

  25. Getting legit hunting permission is pretty much the same over here. It's either through knowing the right people or earning trust. Fishing floats over here are a pretty varied lot. They range from the cigar sized bobbers you describe - used for sea and pike fishing- down to tiny things no bigger than a cocktail stick - for delicate biting fish. In between these extremes there are some weird and wonderful designs with equally weird names. I grabbed a handful of reels for a photo shoot .The two on the left would be known as "multiplier reels" ,though small ones as in the photo are

  27. Living the dream mate living down there mate..cant beat being near the coast i love mountains but the ciast just seems alive with the movement of the sea..I don't know why but I have allways felt a pulling effect from the sea its a weird feeling its almost like I am a reincarnated sailor or something lol..sounds daft but it's hard to explain..my surname originated from Cornwall after I done some research so maybe my ancestors were indeed sailors I don't know..I could literally sit there for hrs upon hrs just staring out to see..its a special place..

  28. I like that mate, not heard it before! This walk today would be packed in the summer no doubt, perfect on a day like today, bright and cold with a nice rough sea as the tide was coming in... We were in Cornwall last weekend...I do love it down there out of season... shouldn't admit that really lol Last weekends jaunt! Was a tad blowy!! Lol

  31. That's what I thought at the time Phil after seeing the litter brother to Celt run the same lad had a black brocken coated bitch a mix of collie greyhound deerhound greyhound that was a class above on hare's but I never recall the said bitch ever getting mentioned by Plummer in the then shooting news.

  33. I disagree with one of those Wilf. The one about people getting friendlier the further north you go. I've worked from the south coast to the north east and I've hunted all over the UK. I'd actually say people are more friendly down south. In Devon and Somerset I've always been made really welcome, invited into home, had drinks bought for me in hunting pubs and thanked for supporting small packs. Up north people can be much more closed and defensive. Hunting in the fells, especially the north of the fells I've had 20-30 hunting cars drive past me as I'm walking back to the meet or when ho
