Fair play i definetly wasn’t expecting that. ? it just saddens me to think that people would genuinely believe the way to get the most out of what little sport we have left is to have a total disregard for respect of the landowner, the quarry and ourselves to achieve this. IMO it’s not the truth there are scores of lads up and down the country getting the most out there animals be that terriers or lurchers without degrading themselves like this. the reason you don’t hear about it is because quite rightly so they don’t want to be heard. I’ll be a long time dead before I16 points

I don't know if it's the way you phrase it, or the way I read it, but you allways seem to equate lads on here who actually work their dogs, with the arseholes who you despise so much. Well, we are not, and I resent the implication. Theres an old saying, "running with the fox, and hunting with the hounds", which is what you appear to be doing by the tone of some of your posts. Theres allways been shithouses in the game, but the internet has highlighted them.........we are not all in thrall to these people, they're NOT our heros. ? Cheers.15 points

Been out for an hour tonight, after 2 blanks I’ve waited for the right conditions and I chose tonight, slight drizzle and wind blowing and now we’re up and running, 3rd time lucky. I know any Lurcher should catch a rabbit but I’m proud of my dog he bought them back alive, near enough straight back to me (little bit of showing off from him) Praised him to high heaven, I must admit after I took them he wanted to get at them again before they went in me ruck sack I told him a stern leave it but he tried it, I suppose to be expected at first? The dogs 11 months old next week so very early days11 points

I was out last week stalking a fallow , and believe me or not a fox jumped out of this old oak , and scared the life out of me , made me jump and shout , fallow gone im sure he waited for me to come past ( His days are numbered)9 points

So let's look at the facts... 1, the dogs couldn't catch the quarry.. 2,the motor was used to run over the quarry. 3,found nearby was a half eaten large kebab meat and chips in the box.. 4, 3 massive dog shits were also found within 10yds of the kebab box. So they are the facts we are faced with...9 points

Hate to say it sir but your opinion is wrong on this one ? your posts used to be top class and always worth a read. Now you just nail your colours to the mast at the start and refuse to even acknowledge any deviation from your opinion. I know your in the land of the pig headed but no need to turn into that yourself ? if you were woken at 4am to some coke fuelled heroes bashing down your gates and turning up your turnips, stopping only to empty your diesel tank and take your Land Rover. I bet you’d have a slightly different view on it, and doubt you’d be sitting ther9 points

I’ve noticed that this is how you argue with folk. If you don’t have an argument you just change it to try to make it look like the person you’re debating with is arguing a stupid point. Either that or you just don’t understand what people are saying, but I don’t think you are thick so doubt it’s that. So what I’ve said is effectively this - “A man who goes out one night and kills a bunch of hares with his dogs doesn’t have too dogs that are well tested and the future of the sport if he goes about it in certain ways” you change it to - “I think we should be getting linings9 points

When I moved into this place I had a couple of hundred breeze blocks that needed shifting around 50 meters to the back of the garden where I was building my kennels/workshop etc. Had a young 18 year old lad in to do it. I came back from work and only a barrow full had been moved. I found a letter from his mother pinned to the door saying it was to hard for him to do. My youngest daughter who was 15 at the time said she would do it and sure enough the next day all the blocks were moved and stacked ready for the bricky and she had 50 notes in her hand.9 points

Probably correct mate and that would make sense, that the more a dog runs, the better it hopefully gets and therefore is going to be a better prospect for breeding. But why try and make some connection with lads running dogs and what is obviously in the case you have just posted 'criminal activity'? Trashing land, fences and gates... driving over people's property and leaving dead quarry lying around is criminal activity nothing more.7 points

Well that worked! Nipped out before the weather deteriorates again. Spotted one that locks onto my red light at 400yds and by the time I get to 300yds it slips away. It seems to be in a particular wood and my little bediwhippet was scenting the air in there last weekend so I may just let her run the wood soon and I carry a shotgun. Any way on the way back along the farm track I sprung a fox right where I leave bait regularly. I let it calm down a couple hundred yards away and then started squealing. In it came. 75yd shot, ran away 30yd stopped and got one extra free.6 points

I guess that one but is essentially what sets our mind sets apart - Your thoughts are that now it’s illegal why give a shit and have any respect for anything at all, why have respect for the land, quarry. f**k it. Me ? It would be nice if it was legal but it’s not and it’s not coming back. Mind plenty of wasn’t legal before the ban anyway. But that’s beside the point. I want to hunt and work my dogs as much as I can wirh the least hassle: I want to test my dogs. But I think you can do that while having some respect for the land and the quarry. I want to hit that ground a lot.6 points

likes been said all it does is bring it on top in the area no respect for nothing and no one even the quarry5 points

Lads doing it right would impress me more than a wrong 'un with the best stud in the country. I'm picky about who I associate with and its worked out well for me so far. I've never had the best dogs in the world but I don't care, they do enough to keep me happy and doing it right and avoiding drama means I have plenty to go at without running the gauntlet unless I choose to.5 points

Good post mate... We all know dog work is getting harder and harder to continue, if your lucky with good permision you can still get stuck in, but if your jumping the fence why the f**k you'd want to bring a load of attention to yourself is beyond me... there are loads of good lads still in the game and if your decent you'll get a day out or a pup at a decent price etc... problem is all the outside world see are the dickheads, smashing the places up, killing for the sake of it (no sport at all) and robbing along the way... wouldn't have a clue what their dogs are like cause I wouldn't be5 points

Mate they were caught on camera and also I’ve been a dog man long enough and lived here long enough to know what I’m seeing. You can dress it up how you like but this ain’t hunting it’s just retards with a motor and a dog or three.5 points

? dunno bout all that feller all sounds abit extreme that. Youll often find when u walk alone on foot youll take the flack for someone whos f****d it up so hard to know what do for the best i think best way is each to his own just dont cry about consequences5 points

Think you’ve missed my point - we were chatting about this on another thread and it was said that it didn’t matter how lads got gear on the deck - more gear = better dogs. To me that ain’t true. Multiple dogs, flattening stuff with a motor, fenced fields etc. There be lads elsewhere out last night who killed less hares but the dogs ran better and were better animals. That was all.5 points

NHS all the way here. They kept my son alive against all the odds. Forever grateful to them. I fundraise for them & doing a present dash in couple of weeks for kids spending Christmas in Nottingham hospitals. Thank you NHS ❤5 points

Fin has set up a little log business, splitting and bagging and I'll run out a truck load if he get a bigger enquiry, Mrs set up a bit on Insta for him last night. He got his first couple of sales yesterday, spent all weekedn splitting and putting in seperate store to my lot (I've been told hands off!! lol). He's 16 and wants a motor bike on the road for a bit of freedom, I'm dead against it but hey ho you can't wrap them in cotton wool and he's grafting to earn to buy it.... Just a different post from covid or immigrants! lol4 points

Feeding today and there’s even more trees down than when I left on Saturday and there’s a few places I can’t get the quad to so Friday morning will be a chainsaw morning, the snow has all but gone and the birds have hammered the feeders while the snow was on the ground, I’m not only feeding pheasants but I’m also feeding Rudolph ? when I went through the ruff side of the piggeries I seen a white flash, stopping the bike there was 4 or 5 fallow doe’s about 15 yards from me, they do tend to winter where they were due to the warmth of the thick cover4 points

I think some of us were brought up with sweet f*ck all, and had parents who needed direction and aspirations themselves never mind knowing how to guide their kids towards a better future, I remember broaching going to university to my mam her reply was "Don't be f***ing stupid, get a job" ? The world is getting a harder place to earn a crust, and it's shrinking quickly, lots of competition out there for the youth of today, but it's always good to see kids making their own way in life and progressing in ways we could never dream about ??4 points

Im just curious how do good dogs get in the hands of bad dogmen im only going by gamedogs years ago but that was a very rare thing that a top quality dog got into the hands of a " poor owner " for want of a better term.3 points

Did you actually read what I just wrote cos you’re just doing it again ? When did I say I wasn’t happy with lads cracking on? why are you mocking me for ‘breaking the law like a gentleman’? But what they do round here is getting to be just shite dogs and shite hunters making a mess. Funnily enough we don’t find many of the big fallow bucks or even any good roe bucks etc dead and left ? only young stuff etx. So if they were that good ....... So it’s not effecting me other than the fact that it’s happening on my land, they are smashing fences I’m responsible for and w3 points

Seen several foxes up trees. Seen a fox with a pack of bushers up his arse run up a leaning ash, drop out the top about 10 foot up and keep on going while the dogs marked the tree. I used to flush one from an Ivy covered oak pretty often too. Ive even got a video of one curled up in a hollow tree so sound asleep I crept up on it to get the video. I spotted it with the thermal out squirrelling or would've never thought to look there3 points

No mate that’s just how you read it. Half the lads on here who are part of regular discussion either don’t have dogs or don’t hunt anymore. It’s just a bit of chat. My comment was directly related to what wilf said on another post and he saw that ? following on from the thread about the lads at the funeral at Bedford. And to be fair I don’t overly despise anyone, I find it irritating as it affects my working life and also my life working dogs. I know a lot of lads who hunt ALOT and who give no fucks at all, some on here and others not. Yet they manage to go where they like, do3 points

Im the last person in the world to be dishing out parental advice but you chaps showing your boys a work ethic is invaluable in my opinion....i only wish id known back then what i know now as my answer was to throw money at my lad....my " guidance " was give him a big bundle of dough and say crack on make of yourself what you can.....thankfully he had a decent nut on his shoulders and built up a brilliant little business with it but as a parent it was a f****n terrible idea i totally regret.....so well played you chaps showing the correct paths, building characters of your sons etc etc....hats3 points

My Niece is on her first placement since Uni, she studied Archeology and ancient history, she's now based in Nottingham and either on digs or sorting all artifacts that are returned (identifying, dating etc)... I love yapping with her, they found a skull dated to roman times recently, loads of roman pottery etc... love the amount of history we have buried all around us, what a job to un earth it and then have the knowledge to trace it back... I've not watched this film yet, its on the list...3 points
