Agree to a degree mate...lol.. If you look at the dogs Phil has put up or even this bitch of mine you can see what the aim is, I won't pretend mine is a world beater or im "hardcore" lol...but if I was running deer, I know they can handle it, im personally not into very heavily bull blooded dogs but certainly see the merit that bit of bull adds to these types of animals...5 points

lets not getting silly here and make out no one knows what their talking about , ive prob done more on deer than you will in your life time and seen loads of different crosses run them , you talk silly and everything comes back to a good hare on wet ground in there day , lets face it, its hard to find good coursing dogs for what they are bred for these days never mind make anything else ?5 points

Without wanting to sound like I’m trying to be a hero, cos I’m not. But if you’re out a lot and give the dog a fair bit of stick, the bull blood, in my opinion, helps the dog have that, get up and go attitude. They might be sore, bruised, wet, cold and smacked about, tired, feet knocked up a bit. But they still dig in and give all. And when they get there, they have the tools to finish the job very quickly and hold some big weights.4 points

90% of coursing dogs wont stick going out on bigger deer a few times a week. Like I said they wont be beat on what they are bred for , day time hares , but stop this silly talk they are the ultimate allrounder as your kidding yourself mate.4 points

I obviously don't know, but you do come across as not really either seeing many whippets at all, or not really seeing much, apart from your sal crosses, full stop. You seem like an ok sort, but you HAVE to be the most breed blind person I think I've read any posts of on here, ever. ?3 points

Locally,...there was a real good line of Pit Bull x Greyhound....I saw this type back in the late 90's, just when I had decided to quit trying to get myself,..Jail time? Prior to walking out with this style of jukel I had 'done alright' on the deer with all sorts of miscellaneous crossbred critters....However,..nothing I had would match the pure physicality and prey drive of the Bull/Saluki/Greyhound composites that are available today..I missed out on running such obviously handy animals, but I am pleased that the lads persevered with their breeding programs, and produced such amazing specime3 points

In my opinions coursing bred dog is fine for deer until you start to smack them into a lot of big stuff and then they start to be less fine. A bit of bull mixed with the Sal gives you everything you need mentally and physically for the job at hand.3 points
