  1. When I spoke to Dave at the fishery last week he said they are putting a bench where John done the auction each year with a plaque on in his memory.... Only a little gesture I know but shows what people thought of him...

  3. I’ve been waiting for the first silage cut of the year , but because of the weather and waterlogged fields it’s been a lot later than usual. I received a call on Saturday evening from a tractor driver to tell me that he was watching a vixen and Cubs playing on the grass he’d just cut . Now I know this guy and he is a bullshiter of the highest order and can’t lye straight in bed . So I took the information with a liberal pinch of salt . He’s a fox shooter himself and friends with another keeper. I know that he would be chuckling to himself thinking of me waiting for the imaginary Cubs . The pla

  11. I get what you’re saying mate, I really do. I’ve worked with a lot of kids in some pretty messed up situations, post death, sexual abuse etc etc I don’t know the right answer on this one, and I agree it needs thinking through and being sensitive about. Might be that they just come down for the one day etc But trust me, nothing will be rushed into or done without thought and I very much agree with your fears / concerns. We will have to play it by ear at the time, but I don’t think I can flat out say ‘no you can’t go I’m not taking you’ to two kids like that.

  12. I thought I’d soak the dead foxes in a container. I squeezed their bladders into it as well. This will make some fantastic “ fox juice “ , I will put it in a spray bottle and use it near my snares . I’ve got to say it already stinks like a tramps jock strap. ?

  13. Why do you keep dropping names ? I no lots of lads doing all kinds but wouldn't dream of chatting about it on here as its none of my f business. And this isn't a dig against you as I'd say it to anyone.

  14. The best way is to ask them mate, explain hopes and fears surrounding the idea and let them make the decision. They may not feel up to it especially if they are not close to anyone there, it’s a lonely place loosing your dad when you are young. If they did come, I personally would have a non drinking nominated driver ready to take them home at a moments notice if it all becomes a bit overwhelming. jmho

People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones Carl...you enjoy dropping folks names looking for some sort of recognition...no cnut on here is interested in the shit you spout,...you done f**k all in 30 yrs bar puff the pipe, bought your first runner at 14...you had 16 yrs at it..then jacked the dogs in...if they was any good then surely someone would of carried them on?? Plenty of lads was around then and their dogs bloods still about...why? Probably because they had the right minerals...no doubt you have done abit...but so has everyone else...I've asked about some of the older heads...and s

  20. I knew that was the reason you called them French wellies but wasn't going to say anything. However now that SL has outed you! ? He is also right about the quality, my local gun shop has stopped supplying them now because he is sick of sending returns back. We should all get together somewhere in the middle of the country and invite the media. Whereupon we have a big ritual bonfire of "French wellies" and other "cheese eating surrender monkey" produce in protest of their "pissing and whistling over Brexit.?

  21. enjoyed reading that sl ? I was out rat bashing the other night with the airgun, I took the 204 with me as well as theres usually a for or two kicking about! anyway after a couple of hours on the rats I loaded the 204 and made a move for the back fields, I fired the thermal up and nearly had a heart attack... im no stranger to deer but I was lost ? wtf is it, I thought it was an alien at first as it was laid down in chill mode so I fired the pard up with just its neck and head exposed I could instantly tell what it was but its a first, never seen a fallow over this way nev

  22. They want to go mate, they are two teenagers and have asked if they could come along as a bit of a tribute, and to see the lads and kids they’ve become friendly with. I wasn’t sure which way it would go, but if that’s what they want, I will make it happen. And be there for some emotional support along the way!

  35. Without trying to sound like a Cnut do you think that’s a good idea ... that’s very soon after their fathers death and it’s going to bring back a lot of memories and the comp will be different this year as it is but it’s going to be a really tough weekend with two very emotional and upset teenagers ... people are going to be conscious about having to much fun for fear of upsetting the kids ... I dont know just my thoughts and experiences with teenagers that have lost parents .......

  41. Nice idea that....or what about a bench put on a nice scenic spot he frequented. We lost someone very close some years back and me and his son carried a bench miles to a spot we both liked.....me and the lad sometimes go and sit there its almost like we're all back together again....bit morbid but comforting in a strange kind of way.
