Had our daily walk up the field as we have been doing since lockdown and the sand Martin's have turned up for the first time today. They seem to be competing for the same hole in the bank. We've been seeing a few bunches of lampprey also the last 4 days. Family lockdown ain't too bad.11 points

Im completely on the fence about all this, whether its the figures, the illness itself....i just dont know enough to have a strong opinion either way but something thats obvious to me that just seems to get brushed under the carpet is did we honestly think we was never going to come unstuck being as ridiculously overpopulated as we are ?......did we not think that the infrastructure of our country was ever going to be effected by mass immigration ? In 20 years the population of London has increased by 3 million.....the population of Birmingham has doubled !....it doesnt take a clever person7 points

This will be the next phase, neighbours calling the police on each other for nothing, and 50% of the population thinking they are experts and attempting to police the 50% of the nation that are just trying to carry on as normal, interesting human zoo ?7 points

Sometimes old arrest warrants have a habit of resurfacing at the most inopportune moments, and foreign police aren't as understanding as they could be,wrong place wrong time,it could have been far worse ? Recent lesson learnt, always wear a mask ?6 points

Mixed emotions about today’s Brisket adventure it was nice but I cooked it for 7 hours expecting it to be super soft and tender but I think for the size of the cut I smoked I should have smoked it for less time still a nice bark crust and my smoke halo was evident but next time less time in the smoker.6 points

Im certainly no peace maker but in all fairness having just found out a family member has caught this shit probably isnt the best time or person to be getting into debates about it with. Hope the lad makes a speedy recovery Bird6 points

This is the problem though mate we,re not actually in a " lockdown "....the word gets thrown around like we are but we,re not or that shop would be shut and them 100 people would be indoors.....id guess the ways shops like that get around it all is because they sell food, even just crisps ! Ive said for a few weeks now either get us into a proper lockdown or dont bother.......this is all too half hearted for my liking.6 points

We've just raised a litter here out of my Patxspringer bitch, put my wife's old whippetxrussell dog over her and she had 8 pups. All were spoken for by friends straight away but we kept two back. I'm really looking forward to bringing them on over the summer5 points

I'll be lighting up in about 45 minutes. Got some really rough pork mince that I normally use for meatballs. This time it is going to be used for pork, apple and leek burgers. Home made chips, par boiled then fried over the charcoal after coating in duck fat, home made BBQ beans using tomato puree, smoked paprika, a touch of hot chilli pepper, a bit of chorizo, a few lardons, minced onions and garlic and some pre-cooked white beans. I've sliced half an onion, sprinkled salt, pepper, and garlic powder over then wrapped it all up in a foil parcel to go on the griddle. And some of those burger bu5 points

Got a text from the chicken farmer yesterday “ fox in hen house field “ . I have shot 6 in the last week or so , where do they keep coming from ? I texted back “ be over later” . I knew from my previous visits that there were foxes working the bank behind the shed so I thought I’d have a go with the caller and cat food trick I did last time , but this time from my pile of blocks . I placed the caller out to the right of the power line pole in daylight and sat back and waited for darkness. On with the pheasant distress call . It wasn’t too long and Charlie showed up , I turned5 points

I owned a Beddy/whippet bitch,about21",a few decades ago now.I paid about £20 for it at 14 months of age and the lad was sick of it because it chased hard and would not strike.I spent a few months getting used to the bitch, building up its confidence with a few drops and getting it out with the ferrets and run after run after run.Eventually the dogs feet and brains came together and it had a very useful first season on the rabbits and picked up a bit of feather. The bitch was fleet footed, quick to learn and in its second season was becoming a decent mutt around the warrens with the ferrets and w5 points

I do understand what your saying but in life we have to balance risk in everyday life all the time. My dad has had it and recovered and was quite poorly and yes it was a concerning time but you can not remove risk or death from daily life and if we are shut up for to long as a country then more people will end up dying. It’s not life vs economy it’s life vs life as a country with a tanked economy has no money for public services and poverty kills just not as obviously as a virus. The cold hard facts are people lose loved ones every single day and as a country our government have to weigh up wh4 points

Where I think the problem is, is perhaps these days a lot of dog folk don’t know as much about farming as they once did. I (and many farmers) put their rams in, in october / November. Which means a group of ewes at that time has been put to be mates, in the first few weeks the embryo isn’t that set, and too much stress etc (or even a nutritional knock) can lead to embryos being lost, basically early stage abortion. I get one chance a year to make money out of the sheep, and if I’m honest and I saw a lad slip a Lurcher at a poxy rabbit day in with my sheep and scattered them all4 points
