  7. On our last trip to this piece of land we left a rather large well established warren alone due to not having enough nets, so this time armed with 400 yrds of longnets, stopnets, a few purse nets 2 boxes of ferrets we were more than ready to do battle this morning, on arriving at said destination, disaster!!!!! A herd of cattle with calf’s and a rather large bull had been turned out into the field, so with that out of the question we crossed the track and into the opposite fields, here we went our separate ways, it was a slow start picking 2s &3s then I had 5 from one warren with a shallow

  8. My lad recently did a bit of wild back-packing/camping and wanted a light but useful hatchet to carry in his pack. He ground the shape out an old axe head and made the handle from ash. Very Vikingesk in appearance. Can anyone tell me if trail cameras are any good for small woodland birds or can be triggered by sparrow hawks or buzzards ??? i do a lot of wildlife photography and have set up a feeding station in woodland but would like to try and bait it for predatory birds or possibly foxes... I’d like to get some more images like these ones I took, any help appreciated.

  11. On my tod down in Dorset this weekend to work on the cull at my new permission which surrounds the 12 acre patch I started with 10 years ago. I was in my old high seat at 6 to be ready for dawn. There has been some muted whistling first thing but it’s still a little early for the rut here. When it was light enough to see the reticule I decided on a quiet stroll alone the tracks and rides towards where the sound came from. After a few hundred yards I had the feeling I was being watched. Scanning with the bins I saw something that looked like two white antlers tips. Rubbing my eyes

  20. Sensible mode of thinking... Personally, I prefer a Collie lurcher that has plenty of thinkers,... I find them easy to school,.. they seem to pick up the mouching game quickly All my original stock were created to catch, salable/edible quarry, rabbits, Hares, Pheasants, and small deer... Temperament can sometimes be an issue with the herding based composites,..you do need to choose a type that suits your own personality... I used to be a c*nt with a dog, but nowadays I have learned to go with the flow,...Collie/Kelpie style lurchers, suit me,... just reet...

  23. After a spot of lunch with the landowner it was back out for an evening wait up at another permission which is hilly to say the least. The stags has been pretty rangy here as the grass is in such poor condition after the hot summer so I picked my spot, got comfy and waited for one to wander past. 7pm and a young staggie did just that keeping to a hill top headland of gorse above the field I was in. The sheep that were in my field were a total pain so the approach was tricky but eventually I got to within 120m of him and was relieved when he dropped on the spot at my shot. I got him

  30. Alright mate I run trail cameras for a hobby and I have caught owls, bats, blue/great tits are very common in spring as they think the lense is a hole and try to get in to nest even moths trigger them I also no a guy that is a serious Barbie/pig roast fellow that butchers everything from squirrels upto cows and he has a big feeding station were he throws all his offal and gets quite a lot of good bird of prey shots, I also meet up once a year with the fellow that makes them for programs on animal planet etc, his cameras are £5000 a pop and you have to add your own dslr to that, despite what ji

  31. I believe the same mate not all collie xs do it my old bitch never in her life picked or choose her runs nor none of this stalking shit that collie xs are meant to do i lamped the bitch regular I was told it was dogs that are lamped regular that do it?? if it was aluminateed she’s try her hardest for me to catch it even if she’s not to keen (on bite back gear) she’d still pull em great for bringing young uns on but not her strong point but I still rate collie xs as a rule as pretty handy dogs in the right hands An good fun I don’t think there for everyone though as they can be temprimental

  34. Id rather have a good working bitch than good working dog if I had to start from scratch, having been to quite a few lads kennels over the years I'd say working dogs outweigh working bitches maybe 3 or 4 to 1.

  35. most of the book writers talk about other peoples success and experience, trying to make a name based on exaggerated bull shit, there like men in the coursing game that have one half decent dog, big it up to make a name for them selves, then you find they even bought that in as a made dog.
