Good wind last night had me on my toes so morning arose and I was out with the old boy. Going to all the known spots was a fail so turned him loose to run aside the truck just coming to a small dyke I seen a little spoil no more than a small bucket full and the old dog was senting in the long grass but couldn't work out which way it had gone so called him up and turned on his collar and walked him 15 20 ft to the hole on looking I said to myself rabbit but the dog said otherwise. 30 seconds in bump a vixen bolted and was despatched. With being only a one holer I waited for him to rise only to15 points

I like them to enter earth work at about 12-14 month old, I started one off this season at nine months. Not my usual habits but she wanted it and everything was in her favour, that and she's got nothing but idiot hard dogs behind her. I personally think people expect to much, to quickly, there's a massive difference between starting and working. What I mean by that is just because you've dug a fox out of an extended rabbit hole once don't expect the same terrier to find in a massive disused badger sett. It's all about hours in the classroom and reading your terrier, you've got to know if9 points

Some i have started early as in 12months but they were ready physicily and after a nice handy 1st dig bring them on slowly all the time making sure not to over match them and keep them wining,5-6 easy digs 1st season depending on age is enough for them. Both young dogs that we recently got bavck actually need holding back they are that keen and they will see only a handfull of digs this season.I started a young bitch last season and through different things happening she was dug to 12 times and some right good digs thrown in but she stood the test and is flyiong again this season with 9 digs ov7 points

The horror and the fear is the weapon.......death is secondary. I was having a discussion on here on a thread about the Grenfell fire......I genuinely felt nothing. Why?.......is it a character flaw? Or, have I been made to feel that way?.......I would argue the latter but many would say it’s the former. I have a view of my country and what has and is being done to it.......and I felt nothing for those people because I see them as part and parcel of the problem. I felt no more emotion about it than I would for a nest of rats. And yet, I would class myself as a lo5 points

It's funny you should revive this thread.... the other day I was a little worse for wear when this fella came on the tv it must have kept me entertained for over a hour laughing I even took a picture ....talk about a doppelganger4 points

Our fighting men would never commit such acts because we are a professionals trained army with discipline and a moral code that we adhere to ... now that's not to say that there are not blokes that during the falklands war would collect the wars off the guys they shot or the Argentinians that fell off a cliff after they were captured or the SAS lad that was done for multiple tapes of kids in Iraq and Afghanistan ... the list goes on ... but as a fighting unit the British army will always have far far more men who wouldn't dream of comiting atrocities compared to those that would so it would ne4 points

All done too easy in the wrong hands thats the difference in knowing when to let them prosper some are ready early, it is as you said easily spoil but it can also be a year ahead of experience in good men hands a year less experience in the wrong hands . Nothing is set in stone but I suppose common sence has too come into it.4 points

Sometimes you have very little on the way of choices in life ,circumdtsnces cam dictate it, don't mean on reflection you wouldn't you possibly envy the man who don't ever need too look over his shoulder ? Monies definitely not everything in life that's one lesson I have learned if no others , but it's bloody nice ,lmao fairplay too any man who makes a crust as long as it's not affecting me or mine is about my take on it , I always say if you can live with the consequences then it's likely worth it in life lol mind am piss poor ?3 points

After 1000s and 1000s of years of conflicts throughout the history of mankind, probably part of our genetic makeup but it's in each and everyone of us to kill and kill again. All it takes is a trigger moment. Massacres have happened in the past and they will happen again in the future.3 points

Jon, treat yourself to the " Two point" gun rest addition for your Primos Only about £40 " ish" but what a transformation You think the primos sticks are a " cracking bit of kit" ? Then put the two point gun rest on top,- takes static hunting to a different level, spring rifle or pcp. You " must" open her legs to fully appreciate her Jon.3 points

Wilf with all due reapect you have no clue what your talking about mate ... bombing an armoured military patrol in a wartime situation is fukc all like cutting the baby out of a pregnant woman's stomach and chucking it on the fire infront of its father .......3 points

It wasn't a simply a case of being at war with a particular race or religion and fighting hand to hand with equal weapons and ferocity ... this was about pure evil savagery of proportions that would give you sleepless nights for the rest of your life if you witnessed it ... the horror that was carried out in the small villages would make most normal people physically sick ... slitting babies throats was a sweet mercy compared to what most endured ........3 points

I could never understand how you can round up 8000+ unarmed people and murder them. Raping and torturing civilians. Cutting babies throats because they won't stop crying. Can't understand that at all. That's as f*cked up as it gets.3 points

I wouldn't be worrying about liberal & pc. It's just not the greatest of examples to use to justify your argument. Though the girls who did have decent loving fathers, then no, I'd say they wouldn't find it in their hearts to slaughter innocent kids. Just a hunch.2 points

I myself have always held back till 15month+ but know a good handful of lads who enter from 8 month old. Call it daft, but its there line of dogs which they know well and the proof is in the pudding, majority of the dogs are flying. I think on the french digging thread it was mentioned they enter early too.2 points

My thoughts exactly mate .One thing the internet does do is let those aspiring to the job know how other more patient men start youngsters .I've never been a rush type but I've known many who were in times gone by .Recent years has seen a more chilled approach for sure and long may it live .2 points

My mate was gifted a young dog a few weeks back by a friend of mine,14months old, nice strong dog,i know the breeding of it so it had the right stuff in it but wont mention that on here.We were out on sunday morn and the lurcher Snowy marked an easy place so i told Paddy to collar up the young dog.We entered him and he travelled on a few metres and then found and we dug him with a small vixon, ideal start for this youngster. We also had a dog returned to us by the General that i had gave him as a pup but through circumstances at the moment he had to rehome the dog and to his word the dog ame back2 points
