Took a few camping trips this summer. Back in May I decided to try to pack as light a backpack as possible so I could walk with my camping gear on my back and fish on the move in the sipsey Wilderness.. When I found some whitewater I knew I would camp here. My first attempt at ultralight camping was a success. June and July the rivers was flooded or it was 100 farenheit. This past Monday we had unusually cold weather. So I skipped work and left out in the kayak.Caught some good smallmouth. When I'm camping in this area I tie my kayak9 points

First I did was at a rave in a basement of a pub in Stanley Co Durham I was ether 15 or just turned 16, it was amazing, then it was about 6 months before I did it again and that was at a club where my mate was the dealer for the owners, no alcohol licence so you only had to be 16 to get in, he gave me two and a trip and told me to take it all at once, I managed to take one pill and the trip, saving a pill for later, I’m glad I did because I was off my nut, gave them glow sticks some proper jip, if I remember correctly this was a Saturday night and I turned up at home on the Tuesday, good times4 points

Back to the farm pond with a mate and one of his friends as a guest. Said guest hauled in five small (five!) tench ,some decent rudd and what he described as a few small carp. Small maybe ,but they were the biggest carp ever caught in the pond ,albeit not much more than a pound each. He let slip he was actually an angling coach . It showed too . Far from being disillusioned by the size of the pond and its inhabitants he professed to having a grand time going back to his boyhood fishing roots. My mate caught his second ever tench so was pleased too. He'd just unhooked it4 points

Dennis the menace and rhubarb and custards would have been late 91 or 92 I reckon. Before that it was yellow or pink cali's. Pink New yorkers and the dreaded snowballs and brown burgers that would make you spew as you came up and the origional Doves of course.3 points

That is a good innings, it makes you wonder a lot of these old war heroes who survived seem to live to a long age it’s like a greater power wants them to get their stories out there. I watched a documentary the other night about the Atomic bombs being dropped on Hiroshima on the 6th August and Nagasaki 9th August eighty years ago and there is a very small amount of survivors of the bombs who told their stories, the details they went into of that day considering they were children is incredible, but mankind learns nothing from past experiences.3 points

That's why we need apprentices though not only to learn a trade but to learn to graft aswell. I don't know who's going to be building and engineering in a few years time. When I go to site I could be the youngest there and I'm 60.3 points
-
He did .he got a bitch if I remember rightly called Darla. that was the parents of the red dog3 points

Apprenticeship system works for companies , obviously not gonna work for a subby on price, but if they want to build the house numbers they are talking about then they'll need to train up youngsters. Apprentices provide cheap labour , and will in time fill some of the skill shortages . Building industry seems far more reliant on foreign labour than engineering and tbh engineering in certain sectors has gone all in on recruiting apprentices.3 points

Nah, I can imagine, I didn't mean in an educational environment, I certainly couldn't deal with a behaviour unit. I did a career day in the kids primary school and found that difficult public speaking isn't my forte, thankfully the bits and pieces I brought in drew questions for me to answer and I tried to give a brief insight into the trade. I only meant in the form of an apprentice and then they'd have to have a good work ethic or they'd be gone, so isn't most likely ....well done on giving those kids a shot sometimes it can just give them an option they'd never have thought of on their own.3 points

Absolutely mate . I wouldn’t contemplate buying a pup from parents I’d never seen or at least had someone I trust vouch for . And I certainly wouldn’t touch anything ever that would cur away from a balled up fox down the beam or couldn’t bend a daytime hare. I only ever had one dog pull up on fox and that was a bull to lurcher cross bitch who was supposed to from very good foxing parents and she flat out pulled up and that was that. Luckily for her I made her reasoning that She was only 22ins and it was distasteful anyway, she was more than adequate in other quarry aspects. Besi3 points

Well, anyway, today I’ve not been building in the west of ireland…..I’ve been soaking up the sun in Greenwhich by the river ! Pie, mash and liquor and a mug of strong tea for breakfast. Then a nice walk round the park, market and Maratime museum….stood in front of Admiral Lord Nelson’s clothes that he had on at the battle of trafalgar (I’ve done it many times in my life, but it never gets old) Back out and along the river to the Trafalgar Arms with my oldest boy, daughter and her boyfriend…..sat and had a pint of coke with lime and ice, they had Peroni and watched the rive3 points

Bangers lad, look no replies, why cos know one gives a fcuk, the sooner you and others as I say, don't give a fcuk, and accept the inevitable the better, One example, look at the post by waltjnr, Donald rose, two world wars yet he was completely ignored, we, you are just happy to sit behind ya curtains hoping what will come doesn't affect them, and there's no doubt about it trouble is coming, sorry, it's already here , wakey fcukin wakey2 points

Cod n chips from a van. The chips look pale but taste really good, Maris P I think. Nice bit of cod, not coastal quality but twice as good as the local chippy, which is indicative of what lazy shits they are, when a man in a van can produce much much better. Edited to say the sausage was insurance against the fish being shit.2 points

I’m a pretty simple bloke mate (as I’m sure many will vouch for ! lol) and I like simple little moments if that makes sense. I was born and brought up round there and I just like the place, I wouldn’t want to live there but it’s nice to visit…..took my wife there for our first ever day out 30 years ago, I was a bit lighter in them days ! lol2 points

Had a walk down the river tonight. My lad took this picture. Murphy getting old now at 9. Bit of grey creeping through on the muzzle and he’s started to slow up a bit.2 points
