Went to Crown Court today for the final adoption certificate. In 2021 my lad and his wife lost their Daughter my only grandchild of 18 months after trying for a kid for nearly 10 years. Seeing my son and his wife's hurt was hard and of course the wife and I were devastated not being Grandparents. As it was an ultra rare genetic thing they decided to go down the adoption rout. Well after over a year of foster to adopted a long drawn thing. Finally the last rubber stamp so to speak I'm a Granddad to a lovely little Lad. To say I'm over the moon would be a massive understatement.26 points

Totally agree, but my rather off the cuff attempt at a joke was in fact deadly serious…..now this is just my personal opinion and has been my firm belief for 23 years…. Some things you can’t buy….no matter how much to earn….as in no amount of money can pay for it. Someone mentioned Bill Gates, well with that 10 million a day he can’t buy 5 minutes ago….just cant ! He can’t buy any sports day he missed with the kids (if the horrible looking c**t even has kids)…..he can’t buy the day he never took off in order to just sit in the garden with his family and just soak up being around9 points

I never met the owner but I know lads over Carlisle way that said it’s true. Most of us used the non-peds as “dual purpose” dogs back then, racing and hunting. I don’t know one non-ped owner now who would risk their dog by hunting now . Getting their dogs ready for the big races is all they think about now. This one of mine, back in the late 60’s, Blue Prince, (Blue Boy x Zarwood), won plenty races, had no trouble with hares, and took the odd roe. Cheers.5 points

Moments of joy mate can’t put a price on that! I’m blessed that ten years hard graft carried me through the 3 bad years of addiction and pain and chaos now 18 months down the line I’ve still got work that pays very very well I can graft all week do my recovery get kids every weekend and take time of to work dog come winter Used to be far more driven but was another addiction to work then the ego comes in then it becomes to much and burns to the ground simple life now and fully present when I have the kids watching them grow up they don’t need hundred spent on them or care what ca3 points

True wilf very much so, I have nt really missed much in the way of kids growing up, obviously working a lot and I’d love to chill out in the garden with family etc, that’s what the weekends for, no point sitting with friends if you got no dollar for a bit of scran and nice drinks.my kids would rather go on decent holiday than have me at every event. My lads into shooting , I spoil the little bugger and spend £10,000 a year on it . He learns respect, and meets people all over the uk so it money well invested and I enjoy going along . I sometimes see the ole dole queue gang walking along with th3 points

That’s the old saying that goes around about borders mate from these videos there’s idiots that’s never owned 1.I always say treat them like a lakie patterdale or Russell pups they will work from a early age.But if you listen to the loons and leave them in a kennel until they are 3yrs old you have ya work cut out.I think a lot of people want world beaters in lurches or terriers by the time they are 11mths old mate.A lot of terriers that’s smashed to bits and never rest 100% jack because there wounds are still sore to the touch just like what happens to us.If left a few months to heal properly3 points

Really looking forward to this Fisher/Allen fight tomorrow its good to see big domestic fights like that particularly at heavyweight reminds me of some of the big domestic heavyweight bouts of the 80's......no thrills, neither fighter ever going to be on the world stage just good honest tough men going in to find out the championship of each other.....love that sort of stuff.2 points

Yes,your not allowed to smoke in public, but in reality no one actually strictly follows that rule,it's Thailand,in the good old bad old days you would see the inside of a Thai prison for smoking a spliff, how times have changed.2 points

Sad thing is that unscrupulous Saudis pretend to be philanthropists and tell Pakistani workers “I’ll pay for your family to come to Mecca to do the Haj.” When the family are about to board the plane in Pakistan, they are told, “oh, by the way, just take this suitcase with you”. If they get through, everyone’s a winner; if they don’t, they get chopped, the Saudi is out a few Riyals ! Moral ? “No such thing as a free dinner” ! Cheers.2 points

I opened this thread yesterday after not being on here for a week or so and thinking I must have misread the title. I read the first post, closed the computer down and went for a long walk up Windmill Hill. There was a hare at the top and I wondered if he believed in reincarnation. I only met Phil a handful of times, maybe a little more, but I learnt a lot on those few occasions, particularly when he once borrowed the two ferrets I had at the time to get one of his previous 'cur dogs' started (I think it might have been Dusty). However, despite his standing in the lurcher world, my o2 points

I always liked the idea of owning a campsite... I rember camping at malam in the dales years ago...just a field...with a toilet block... I counted over 50 tents that day....set my mind thinking....of course like anything I'm sure there's more to it....but back then 30 year ago...I thought f**k me this is a simple easy earner2 points
