I agree a couple of older chaps have took me out for a nights lamping …and then even more generously invited me back to theirs to milk a cow … strangely both had bulbs go in the milking shed so I was milking blind so to speak ….. I must have done ok though as I’ve been invited back …4 points

I have two older ferrets that I doubt will survive this winter and I'll miss them when they go. I completely trust these two The hob has outlived his litter brother by 2 years and the Jill a litter sister by 3 years and I find it's incredible that at 7 years old, long long past the typical lifespan of polecats in the wild, and despite their obvious tumours and associated thyroid swelling both those old ferrets are still keen to get out and do their thing very well .3 points

I appreciate the frustration but you need to be patient, 3 years is absolutely nothing. It will take approximately 10-15 years minimum at a guess. I spent a lot of time researching about RVHD in Australia and New Zealand and it seemed to take around that to build an immunity and then rabbits do what they best! Same with mixi, I bet every ferret man in country gave up on rabbits after mixi and 20 years later (although mixi was still a blight on the poor coney) numbers where at good levels again. This is a long game for the rabbit man (or women) but for the money you’ll get now you’ll kick yours3 points

Seem to be having a bit of luck with this frame lately with 11mm steel. I carry two catapults on a mooch out the HGH from cattyshack and the wolf wasp. Another decent shot on a grey squirrel this morning as I came upon 3 chasing each other about and the abundance of food they are in good condition.3 points

An experienced ferret is such an asset, just go down do the job and no drama. Only issue I find with my hobs is they can get a little to efficient with experience! I had a hob I basically had to stop taking as he killed what felt like every rabbit he came across and in such short order I barely had to time to locate the kill. Not what’s needed.2 points

The problem is not just the people who think that owning these retarded psycho dogs makes them look hard . One of my blooming customers , a millionaire with an unrealistically soft heart rescued two(two!) of the things from a rehoming centre . One was clearly not the gentle family pet the cunning bxstards at the dogs' home had described it as . The other seemed OK at first. As the dogs had been collected the day before the deadline for transferring the things the obvious psycho one couldn't be returned . The owner threw money at the problem and employed a trainer.2 points

I think ferrets just keep getting better at working almost up to the end, which makes losing them that much harder. Great animals.2 points

Pulled a good shot off this morning probably a fluke in my case I spotted a squirrel up the side of the wood that was a fair distance catapult wise and hit it with anhead shot that just flipped it over dead as a dodo with another wasp catapult i recently treated myself to and some bands with a smaller pouch that I am used to off a lad on Ebay called Billy Fowler who makes decent bands.2 points

Totally agree with you mate. The brain dead morons who i see who own these dogs maybe it would make them think twice about getting one of these monstrosities of a dog for a family pet.1 point

You understand the importance of the big estates in the U.K. when you come to a place like I live. In the U.K. a small farm is about 600 acres, on that they may have a small shoot or border a bigger managed estate. In my part of ireland they got rid of most of the great houses after independence, burnt them down or left them to ruin. Estates were partitioned up into small “family” farms, a big farm here is 60-100 acres and that may be spread out over miles with lots of other peoples fields all interwoven chess board style in between. No shoots or managed estates because it1 point
