Seems to be a big up take for threads on off grid living or self sustainability so thought I would stick it in here lads because the 'living of land and game cooking' section doesn't get much traffic We are working towards producing our own meat and veg, will take some time but oong term goals. Half a dozen young chickens at the min, another dozen in incubator (expecting 6 at most). Turkeys going in next week when these hatch.....or not CPH applied for today for the pigs that are next on list. The patch of brambles is what I have bought to put the hogs on moving forwar16 points

For the pigs, invest in some mains powered electric fence of the highest power you feel comfortable being around. It will do acres of property from wherever you mount it and again, I can’t stress enough, as high a shock delivery as you can get away with (big cow strength is ideal) If you don’t now, believe me, you will remember this post 6 months after you have them ! Lol Pigs will bulldoze everything including sheep wire like it’s made of cotton. All the best ?7 points

Limited china's access to high end computer chips.....really??? Like saying we have stopped the pig farmers access to sausages?! ?4 points

This is the electric fence unit I use mate and they don’t mess with it. Will power upto about 20 acres if I remember correctly although my pigs were only kept on one of my fields of about an acre. But it did all my property for cattle as well, so at about €250-280 it will do anything the small holder needs and is a good investment.3 points

Im not doing it for money, just had a perfect example of why I wanna produce my own. We normally go to the butchers but grabbed some super market bacon......what the f**k is this all about... 10mins in oven and shrunk to less than half size?! The bacon packet is on the same plate, not lifted for effect. Unreal how the products on our shelves are modified to suit, to carry more water to increase weight for sale etc. No one has a clue what they are pumping into stuff and therefore what we are eating.3 points

I hate insurance companies mate - they're the modern day shysters. They'll take any opportunity to screw you for as much as they can. Notice how the prices keep going up now year on year despite your increase in no claims I flat out refuse to have house or contents insurance, same with dog insurance. I pay the companies nothing but, I do put it into a separate account each month - that way it's my pay out to control if the time comes and, they make no interest from me3 points

Just off of the top of my head? He's limited China's access to higher end computer chips. Telling Americans if they continue to assist China their citizenship is forfeit. That's a big balls move by any reckoning. He's also made it clear we will assist Taiwan if China invades. He's made great strides to re-shore manufacturing jobs. Some quarter million a month by last report. This was one of Trumps favorite tweet topics and a campaign promise of his. But he didn't seem to understand tweeting is not the same as doing.3 points

For some reason that pic reminds me of Michael Jackson. The old welsh ministers are trying to stick it too us now. This daft woman needs to keep her mouth shut. They have no right to say whats others can and can't do2 points

Lifted a bed of onions this morning. There were a few small ones, so waste not, want not, I pickled them. I usually add some red chilli to them to give them a bit of “bite”, but this year I’ve grown yellow banana chillis for the first time so used them instead. Cheers.1 point

One other tip, invest in some Valium for when you have to round up escaped piglets on a piss wet day…..or any day for that matter ! Lol1 point

Yep, picking spence, myself. Really looking forward to this one. As you say, proper, no nonsense, or bullshit, or juggling of ranking positions.1 point

Bit of a spence fan mate, so backing him but do think Crawford has every chance if he can withstand the onslaught, I just like fighters that go shit or bust at everything like Nigel Ben etc win or loose they just for it no cherry picking and no reverse ?1 point

By burning away the dead vegetation it releases the nutrients back into the soil far faster than natural decay, it also contains any fire outbreaks, with exception of course, by removing the dead tinder and brush every season theres less chance of fire breaking out anyway, green vegetation isnt dry, if you look at bonfire sites 2 months after the fires the grass is twice as longg as the surrounding areas1 point

Should be a great fight. Who you picking, G? I'm picking the black fella. ?1 point

As you say, they can be extended easily. I just dig a small hole for the “legs” to stand in and use the Heras clamps to connect the panels and they are secure enough. If you know someone “on the buildings”, they are cheap and available ! Cheers.1 point

if someone hits me I don’t even go through my insurance just hand it straight over to an accident management company they give me a curtesy car as soon as I call them take mine away and deal with everything from the repair work to all the medical stuff, hassle free and I,m well up financially as well, insurance company’s are all just robbing c**ts ?1 point

Had a letter come through the door few weeks ago, saying that from October this yr they was stopping providing commercial car insurance....rang them up, explained that i took the vehicle off the rd in October 2019 and sorned it with DVLA..They still been taking the payments by direct debit all this time?I transferred ownership to the lads i work for 18 months ago, they pay for a policy and road tax etc... apparently i needed to ring up and cancel my original insurance policy or they will keep taking the payments ? so they can take 4 yrs of payments and not need any proof /my signature, never re1 point

I’ve found Heras panels ideal for poultry runs; cheap, (no pun intended), to buy, very easy to erect and movable if required, and the ideal height. Cheers.1 point

Had an evening on the fishery tonight.. fished the specimen pond for the first time after perch.. Only one decent one, 25 or so bream, half a dozen nice crucians and loads of roach, smashed by 3 big carp! Shame there's only 6 swims on this one as it would be decent in the match..1 point
