Dambuster Johnny Johnson dies aged 101 WWW.BBC.CO.UK Sq Ldr George 'Johnny' Johnson was part of the World War Two operation involving bouncing bombs. Arry17 points

I worked with Des Philips , he was a flight engineer with 617 squadron. He wasn't on the dambusters operation, but flew on the operation that sank the German battle ship Tirpitz. He was awarded a medal when their bomber lost an engine on take off on a bombing mission and he managed to get it of the ground and complete its mission. He was a flight sergeant as a teenager ! He told some great stories to us young 'uns when we worked together with the Royal Saudi Airforce. The countries " greatest generation " are sadly almost gone......... Cheers.10 points

all working dogs should be kenneled outside.indoors will make them soft.as a young man I actually believed this. experience has learnt me that it makes no difference whatsoever .seen dogs looking soft lay at front of the fire etc,but out in field doing the job , which is all that matters ?8 points
-
Not if you check the dog over and wash its feet before putting it in the kennel, as a responsible dogman would do ? Cheers.7 points

Feeding first thing this morning a head of Saturdays shoot, my god it was cold but at least it wasn’t wet, -5 when I got there this morning and still -2 when I left at 11am, there wasn’t masses of birds about but what I did see was looking very good, the recent cold weather has really sorted them out, it’s looking like this cold snap is here to stay for a while yet so with a bit of luck they will be feeding hard and I can put them where I want them7 points

Got some stock to go again we after losing most my birds this year. The grey pullet is out of the ginger hen to a black Oxford. I've also a young stag bred out of my ginger stag and a good old hen I lost.6 points

I went to Woodhall Spa home of 617 Squadron a few months ago if your ever up that way have a walk around the town and read some of the boards that are scattered around the place different breed altogether, I was looking at relocating there but my Mrs wasn’t keen, Coningsby is just around the corner as well where you can watch dozens of Typhoons taking off and landing.6 points

Absolutely bloody horrible things, as I write this the missus cat is looking at me like it wants me to die, this thing is about 20 years old now and I’m sure it only stays alive to piss me off, it’s a house cat now and won’t go outside, again, probably because it knows I hate it been in the house, why anyone would want one of these disgusting things in their house is beyond me, I often tell the missus I could happily dispatch it, put it in the bin and go about my day, she loves the bloody thing and treats it like a baby, it’s just plain weird6 points

I thought the Red Cross was a worthwhile charity until they had a directors meeting and decided to drop the cross so as not to upset other religions. Perhaps someone should have told them the "Red Cross" wasn't a religious symbol, it was the inversion of the Swiss flag, where the charity is based. Luckily the membership and big donors revolted and the ideas was dropped. Next time they came to my door, I explained this as the reason I'd never donate to them again. Cheers.5 points

locators, banjo's,couples etc ,don't eat or drink..I'd hold onto them, never know when you want back in Jack ??4 points

Im opposite to that tbh , Iv a kennel set up they’ll go in there in im out and about , but after a day or night work I’d clean them off and have them in , when I bathing them I can check for anything Iv not seen injury wise and I can keep a eye on them few hours after , find they recover bed too if there on the sofa for couple hours after working , when I had terriers after a dig it be bath and crate in a warm quiet room for the rest of the day4 points
-
All of the above plus the need to second guess hounds and huntsman .Up early to find a few likely holding spots .Need to be respected locally and never fall out with fellow terriermen no matter the problem .Respectful of hunting codes ,sirs and madams to everyone bar his digging mates .Tidy backfill and inform landowner whats about and whats been dug .Fencing in quiet periods and always repair any faults next day or the country is soon lost .Back in the day it was beneficial to have a back up plan if hounds failed to kick up a fox .Much more but too little time to write it at moment .4 points

The numbers are only going to get higher with the closing of several game dealers lately .No point in killing them if you cant shift them. If anyone reading this wants a carcass pm me if you dont mind travelling to get it .4 points

No mate,I don’t frequent those sort of places, plenty of them about,I always keep my briefs on,those sort of places always ask “Anything else sir?” at the end ? I love my woman to bits, what’s the point of destroying that trust.3 points

Would have been splashed across every news channel going, prime time, a genuine leopard dead on a British road with a clear photo would also have been front page on every tabloid running to press.3 points

I think Magoo might disagree with you. He regularly yomps 30 miles, over hill and dale, in Dunlop froggos!! Lol3 points

I think in general, dogs kept outside can offen suffer with any bites, cuts etc going unnoticed. Like what has been said…hard nights lamping, chuck it in the kennel.., if you walk it before work it’s probably still dark… come home that night his foot or face is swollen… inside you notice things a lot quicker3 points

Being respected and trusted by the farmers is very important and often ignored by hunts who seem to go through lads3 points

Nowt wrong with that mate, on hot summer days, my dog had the choice of sleeping outside all night in between my garden and she'd, or crackin down in bed with me, she was a member of my family, I have her what she wanted, in return , she gave meany years of friendship and happines RIP Nell3 points

Me personally I think we should donate to the problems in this country before others, like battered wife's, ex serviceman , children here on our own soil that are in poverty. I think we have enough needy causes here before sending abroad. My own little business and staff received an award last week for the money we have raised for charities and helping the village community. After covid we raised over £6500 which went to various charities, one a retreat for terminal children , various cancer organisations. But also money towards the children's football and cricket teams and to have defibri3 points

I/We used to donate quite a few quid to a certain childrens home near here until they told us our contributions to the home could no longer be taken and could we instead start giving it to the general trust where it would be pooled and dispersed to the areas chosen by officials.......nah mate,f**k right off !.....the whole point was to help local kids in our local area not strangers from around the globe.....yes charity begins and ends at home, once thats all in fine fettle then look to help others in need...but only then.3 points

Charity starts at home for me I do not donate nothing to these organisations as there a business not a charity. If I see someone who’s my country man/woman who’s fell on hard times an needs a leg up to get going I’ll help them if there genuine but bag heads offering the ex servicemen line get feck all2 points

I've changed my mind on cats in recent years I use to hate them like you but I've come to accept them ,they make a ideal low maintenance pet for someone like us who doesn't have the time for a dog at the moment or someone like you who likes a bit of low maintenance company. Also great for pest control here keeping on top of the mice we are on our second now this fellah turned up last Xmas not long after loosing our old cat to old age . New cat and old cat with the rat2 points
