Well it was our first day today and it lashed down all morning and early afternoon. There where some really cracking birds considering it is the first stir up. We finished on 52 head comprising of 30 duck, 7 partridge, 1 teal and 14 pheasants. I happened to get a good peg on the first drive and the next to last drive. My own contribution was 6 duck, 8 pheasant and a partridge.

The Keepers at Dartmoor Zoo (Sparkwell near Plymouth) have supposed to have seen big cats on the out side of the wire. Also read that some keepers were on their way back one night and seen a Puma in the road and even knew it's sex which I can't remember which it was. They rushed back by all accounts thinking they had an escapee but all their cats were there. A lot of sightings in that area and I gave an account of a mate that watch one for 20 minutes at Wrangaton which is also the same area. Got a big bruiser tonight. I think it was sleeping in the field I was crossing. I only saw it as it legged it into a wood. I had been lamping as I went but out of nowhere it appeared. Some times the crabbing and arguments can be more than a bit monotonous on here but as I have turned into a boring old bloke who has to put up with equally boring people in the workplace every day I enjoy coming on here just to read posts from interesting folk and it cheers me up a bit reading posts from folks who have had the guts like WILF and Greyman and a few others to drastically change their lives and situations wether it was moving to pastures new or planning to leave the rat race and living on a canal boat and being self sufficient.

Tonight, Friday, 7.30pm, there are are 46 on line on the forum. When I first joined, it was a joy to read all the members comments . When I go fishing on the boat at a place on the Vienne there is no access to the far bank for miles, but there are a couple of places where I can disembark and empty the bilges so to speak. Its a bu99er having to get the rods in, the anchors up, motor across the river, chuck a land anchor onto some rocks and scramble ashore when the big hand is approaching the 3 minute warning time being up. The place is full of coypu droppings so I'm not spoiling anything.
