? Personally, I WANT a working dog to think he is the main man,...a Male canine needs to , 'have some balls'...? Your mission,... should you choose to accept it, is to school the tyke (and whilst still retaining his youthful vigour),.. let him know in no uncertain terms, that YOUR balls are much bigger than his.... You are the Boss.? Admittedly, some Alfa male canines can be a pain,.. but when ya do get a good'un,...its frequently a real powerhouse hunting machine...?9 points

Maybe some people don’t want to post continuously about what they shoot. Doesn’t mean they don’t “do a bit”8 points

Another day, another early start, I had a look at a picture from the day they went in earlier and it’s amazing how much they have grown in 10 days, I’ve calmed down a bit now as they have settled down and are taking an amount of feed I would expect them to, Gordon’s pen is starting to stink a bit now so maybe by the end of the week I’ll consider lifting the wire, but I’ll keep my eye on the over the coming week, I’ve got a few hammering the feeders over the piggeries although I haven’t seen any good numbers over there yet, I had a walk down the stubble at the back of the farm, now this field s7 points

It's only a stage he's got to go through. Grit your teeth and try to engage him in meaningful pursuits. Castration is, in my opinion, not a cure all, and long term it won't do his body any good at all: weaker bones, muscles etc. The teenage stage can be a pain in the butt, but it will pass eventually. Just be firm, fair and get him on side with you by working and exercising him hard. Never had any dog castrated, despite living with entire bitches. Of course they need to be separated when a bitch is on heat, but once they realise that they must bow down to you as pack leader they tend to accept6 points

Hit up two properties tonight, one was a kill everything on site deal for a buddy ( only saw deer got tore up by the mosquitoes while stalking in) and my parents place where its more of only shoot the biggest most mature (boars preferred)type of deal. Honestly dad is basically farming them at this point lol. Was able to stalk up on this sounder but man the place was so over grown I couldn't get a clear view of all of them. Just outta irritation I started giving some hand squeaks like you do for fox and this one came charging out. Wasn't planning on taking any shots until I saw the whole sounder5 points

It pains me to say it,...(and that is the truth),...but after 60 years of pursuing the Coney,.. much of it on a professional basis, albeit with, and often without,.. permission,..? I honestly believe that with few exceptions, Nationwide,. the rabbit population is in such a weak state, that I can never see the numbers reaching the heights of the 1980's/1990's .. And,...alongside this sad prophesy.. there is obviously the spin off from that fact,...and once again,..it makes me sick to the core to say it,...and that is,...the eventual demise,.. of the purest 'rabbiting dog'..... You couldn’t be more wrong if you tried mate to be honest . I have more than a passing interest in the topic , McGuiness was a Sinn Fein man , a provisional commander in Derry , none of the attacks you mentioned would have been ratified by him as they were in the main committed by the south Armagh active service unit who basically did what the f**k they wanted , whenever . when they’re commander , Thomas Murphy was in charge of the council , he was removed / wrested from power by the likes of mcguiness as he was a complete psychopath . Most of the dissident republican fractions , the rea5 points

?? We complain that the history and fabric of our country is disappearing before our eyes, then complain about an imaginary cost for the funeral of the true person that attaches us all to that history... I'm not a royalist (at least i never thought I was)... but this is the very thing that sets our nation apart... I'm a quiet nationalist I guess....5 points

Some dogs will, some won't but only time will tell. The fella is clearly wanting the best for his cur and prepared to explore every possible avenue to learn for himself and from others more experienced, kudos for that ? and I for one wish him all the luck in the world with her, there are a lot of dim-witted muppets in the lurcher game and from what I've read he's got a positive outlook and a brain. Just Keep on going, slow and steady Scott4 points

Got one place I go. One side the hedge grass is always long and rabbits seem abit slower. Go the other side the fields are grazed tight by sheep and horses all year around. They seem to have a rocket up there arse and there is far more slipping from the dog on turning. Makes you realise how types of land play a difference4 points

Dead right. The cats were easier to catch than the rats during daytime. Not that the dogs were rubbish just that it was extremely difficult to shift the rats from their strongholds and I had never seen a smoker at that time. In my defence regarding the cats I was young and daft and mad keen on any sport with dogs. These days I'm scared to walk a terrier even on a lead on any land within miles of a badger set for fear of the helicopter appearing to be shortly followed by several police cars and being informed that a member of the public has reported me for badger baiting. Again. Had4 points

I've really gone off guns but the lad had been asking so planned a bit of a day. Took him to the gun shop to trade my silenced .410 for an unsilenced one for as he was struggling to aim around the silencer. They only had expensive ones in. Even the little single barrel we choose was brand new and more than I wanted to pay. The lad then declared he was still wearing his slippers as he had forgot to put his wellies on ?. Another £40 down for new wellies as it was half an hour home and we were already late. £6 a box for .410 cartridges and we walked out kitted up but 200 notes down! Anyway4 points

f****n touchy today lads .Was a bit of light hearted banter but no bother .Just thought as it’s a hunting site I’d keep the ball rolling .Used to be full of days out with proper lads but now seems to be more of a put Britain right and I don’t go out much because …… When this site finally bans days out then I’ll stop posting and join pigeon watch but until then bollocks to the moaners and have some of this ——-3 points

I'm no fan of desexing young.his only an adolescent like 14yr old boy cant keep their hand off it. Hell grow out of it and settle down. Plenty of evidence how desexing young is a death sentence3 points

Got to say disappointed not more experiences written on this thread. I have never had a dog castrated but of 12 dogs in 42 years, 8 were bitches, I've two dogs now and one is a massive PIA so I feel your pain, Frank's dad. It's crossed my mind that castration would sort a few things. Equally I don't want to take the edge of performance and all the pet dogs I've seen spayed or castrated seem out of shape after the ops ?3 points

Nice story but the critically endangered pine Martin is being bred and released at a rate of knots like the polecat has been over recent years and the otter before that, they will start popping up all over in the coming year or two ??3 points

I've never used my age as an excuse for wisdom ? Ive been hunting with lads half my age who knew twice as much as me, and there are plenty on here who I've been out with that will tell you that I've said, when I've been invited onto their ground ;" if I'm doing something I shouldn't be, please tell me, and if I'm not doing something I should be , please tell me " . Thats probably why I get invited back ! You have your outlook on life, and I respect that. Ive lived a life full of great ups and enormous downs, but I get on with it....I understand there are things beyond our k3 points
