I think your getting mixed up with the actor and characters he plays ,he's not a tough guy ,raging bull ,gangster ,he's an actor ,a luvvie ,a theatrical type ,and when things don't go his way ,he stamps his feet ,takes tantrums and spits out his dummy just like the rest of them .8 points

That's a simplistic way of looking at it FD, I know where you're coming from but I don't agree. There's hundreds of terriers that get moved on or pts year on year through bad entering, bad socialisation and so on. If you went with THL massive "cull hard" , PTS, never breed from this and that and so on you'd think the country would be full of top notch terriers............sadly we know it' not. As I've said 2 + 2 doesn't equal 4 in breeding, I'm not kennel blind and I'm not stupid either. The best examples I can give from my one lifetimes experience are these breedings. ......Bust7 points

If you had no choice to continue the blood then it's worth a punt, don't get bogged down on the individual animal when the lines a good producing line. If you'r blessed with an extended family then that part of the line should stop right there, life isn't perfect and breeding dogs isn't 2 +2 = 47 points

Best advice I was given is be careful who you mix with very true in this game loads of complete wankers in this game! If buying a pup buy the best bred you can watch out for the peddler bred shit don’t rush An don’t be afraid to walk away if there not what you expected or something is not right have your hopes high An don’t settle for less (ie you arrive to view the pups An there house is a shit hole followed by a messy garden an kennels...speaks volumes in to the care an attention gone in to the pups) If you found your pup you have to believe in your head that the pups is going to6 points

Got a call from my pal les gedge earlier today, the farmer told him some ferrals around the cow sheds, so i went over, (its about 15 mins from home) seen about 15 or so and after walking around a few times i ended up with 10 of them with 4 left on roofs and 4 in the bag for ferrets 2 lost, farmer seen most shot and well pleased. Cheers les.5 points

I've witnessed that on a few occasions..... Some lads have the knack of breaking the best of dogs/breeding and blaming that, for the man's own personal short comings.5 points

or what about a dog that had in the past covered a few bitches because he was a real decent hard worker up to 6 years old but then walked at 9 years old on a few digs ,BUT his offspring went on to NEVER ''jack'' in their long working lives with very respectable digs behind them....a dog that was dug to loads of times and was hard and dependable... but in older age lost his drive due to being burnt out i believe ....he produced a few very decent offspring but technically he jacked whatever way you look at it...would you breed from him again after he walked ?and this is not hypothetical...he5 points

Keep your memories in the field.... Believe half of what your told..... Always respect your dogs and quarry.... Don't piss on an electric fence lol?5 points

I suppose that’s the thing your never going to know for sure with dogs that are passed abouts pedigrees are made up to suit the owner that’s looking for a curtain cross to parm off on to them the question is if the dog was/is as good as made out why pass it on I find it very unlikely to be only collie greyhound in that dogs breeding I like collie xs but if I was looking for a stud this dog wouldn’t be my first point of call based on there’s not enough accuracy in information on the dog Be ok if you just wanted to nock out a litter to peddle on but when you have a good bitch you want to know ev5 points

That's a massive part of the working terriers downfall Jigsaw, "human error". There's no such thing as a dog that won't quit, just varying degrees of drive and willpower to see the job through. Tyson Fury is a hero to some, but look at the cock they matched him up with, the whole fight was a shambles but they "managed" him to get his confidence up.4 points

I get the drift, regarding looks, over working ability, and perhaps it is simply pure coincidence....but the best dogs I have EVER seen in action,.... all looked good...4 points

Looks don't matter but the trained eye has a good idea on confirmation, leg knuckle, feet, length of back, etc..... can make a big difference on how a dog performs physically.4 points

I was watching a Si Pittaway clip on Youtube and he made reference to The Hunting Life, so I decided to have a look. I`m based in Zurich and been living here for the last 10 years. As for field sports, I hunt, shoot, stalk and flyfish. I also enjoy beach casting and spinning for sea bass, or Lure Fishing as I now believe its called. I mainly hunt Roe, Sika and Wild Boar in Switzerland. I also like Alpine hunting for Gemse and Ibex. I no longer shoot foxes as they are not the pest here that they are in Ireland and England as we don`t have very many sheep. THis upsets some of farmer friends from3 points

Some lads will never have good dogs no matter what the get they always seem to get the bad pup in the litter as you’ve said. I no lads that at 14 months expect to work a dog because that when every pup should work and over face them. Instead of reading there dogs and letting the dog tell you when there ready or hold them back till you think there ready. It’s not always a straight forward the book says he should work at this age so let’s go. They never no when to take it easy when they start and to put them in the right spots to keep the winning the first year. Then the same dog packs it up and3 points

If your only breeding for yourself and mates then I wouldn't get to hung up on peds..... You got a damn good bitch, mate got a damn good dog.... You put your best to the best and take your chances..... If your paying money for it... Then I think its only fair that the breeder is as honest as they can be with you ?I think that those who write down every detail of sires, dams, whelps, and can show you some sort of proof, be it written, old photos, have older siblings there...... Are the folks you should deal with?you can tell if someone lives and breathes working dogs.....if they want to charge3 points

Look at the amount of trouble the Lynx group are having just to get permission to release 5/6 radio tracked Lynx in a remote forest in Scotland, the nfu want an insurance policy in place to compensate all farmers for any losses for 5 years even though Lynx don't really prey on farm animals, if the government openly admit we have medium size cats living in the uk due to a botched policy on dangerous animals in the 1970s they will be hit giddy with compo claims from farmers far and wide, plus the public hysteria that will also follow, the first thing people want to know when I turn up is how saf3 points

Interesting comment this mate and it highlites why so many people don’t get why other lads like Trump....... See, your reply there looks like you are still approaching things with logic and reasoned argument......but lads like me are saying “f**k all that” you just can’t use logic or reasoned argument with the like of Obama, Junker, May and all the other f***ing trecherous clowns......tried it for years, they dont give a f**k so now it time to stop playing by their rules. See I don’t care if Trump wrecks everything, to a lot of lads it needs wrecking and it can’t come soon enough bec3 points

Coming from quite a townie family, the only ones that I ever remember being interested in hunting were me and my Grandad - Mums Dad. ...... He's a Welshman, ex-army and a train driver. When I was a kid in the early/mid 80s (I would have been 5 or 6 yrs old), I'd sometimes stay over at Nan & Grandads - we'd get up early and walk to the fields a couple of miles away to check his snares. Sometimes on the way, he'd pull out a catapult, if no one was around, and take a pigeon off a lamppost - this was usually just as the sun was coming up. ..... I remember his coat3 points

Leopards were around £150 up to a tiger for £250 Harrods was a big supplier, and in 1976 it was suddenly illegal to own them without an enclosure made up of an inner and outer fence and certain other stipulations, zoo,s were over run with offers and the other option was to have them pts so unsurprisingly one or two were taken to remote spots around England and released IE Bodmin,Dartmoor, exmoor and Scotland , hence the beast of Bodmin story,s began, They were released pets attacking an easy meal, sheep, and as the deer population has gone absolutely berserk over the past 30/40 years, similarl3 points

Agree with you there. He looks a strong type but people who want to use a genuine collie grey for stud would want to know for sure. Im always getting asked if my saluki collie grey has bull in him. But I know there isn’t any! You got to be honest with people. If there is a bit of bull in there then that might suit some people more. He looks a nice type and If he’s doing his job and somebody wants to use him then that’s there call. ATB with him this season3 points
