  1. We headed towards Glastonbury,...it was wet and muddy as per usual, the rain was non-stop and the wind was icy cold. No exciting bands on offer, no sex, drugs or rock, and roll, just the promise of a new life for my old pal's lurcher dog. Lost my dear friend Robin Tarrant to Cancer at Xmas,..it was emotional. I visited him in the Hospice, it was a shock to the system and one which I was not prepared for,..however, it had to be done... Foolishly, and without really thinking, I asked him, 'Is there anything that you want me to do?" The cancer was in his throat, he

  6. Went out today to re-zero my most accurate spinger. Was shot in a barn. The farmer said it was 32 meters (about 35yards). Shot it prone. Hand on a filled ricebag. Rifle's foreend rested in my palm. Body in a triangle position, 3 shots per circle. HNN ftt 5.53 resized to 5.52. Not bad concidering having the flue. Needless to say the rifle has some internal work done to it Will never sell this one. Even if offered 10000 euros

  10. The trouble is that the far left, are educating our kids in schools and colleges/university's. The results are snowflake kids/teenagers that haven't a clue.

  11. No, the hedge isn't that thick. But they were in amongst it and not getting ripped. On almost every post about whippets, you ALWAYS bang on about how easy they rip, even if they practically just so much as look at anything sharp/thorny etc. You must've seen some poor whippets to base your assumptions on. And the fact you say every whippet you've seen is too small, fragile, shivery etc, leads me to believe that you've not seen that many whippets actually working. I can assure you that there are plenty of whippets around that are anything but small and fragile, and don't get cut any

  21. Years ago when I did NFAS archery I shot with a bloke who organised bowhunts in Africa. He had a Browning compound of 90 pound draw weight and I couldn't even get the string to move let alone draw it!

  22. I bought myself a starter rig back in the summer. Not used it much since as I've been busy with the shooting season. They're very enjoyable just target shooting, much more so than a rifle imo but maybe that's just novelty. I was quite surprised at the precision of it... my first ever 40 yard group (pulled one).

  23. Handlining in Eire is legal in saltwater, illegal in freshwater. My father used to handline for Conger and when I was young he caught a 20 pound Conger in Wicklow harbour on a handline. It was near 5 foot long and my Granny cooked it. The tackle was a builders line and a six foot wire trace with 4 or 5 swivels on it and the hook was a shark hook. Can't remember the bait though.

  24. I've probably had this up more than once before. He was a dog I bought from a greyhound breeder who paid good money for a greyhound stud then his farm collie managed to cover the bitch after she came home. The litter was half pure greyhounds and half lurchers. He died of cancer a few years ago at around 9 or 10 if I remember right. He was real nervous as a pup but became very gutsy once settled in and matured. I used him for ferreting mostly but he loved running foxes and would desert a warren if he saw a fox. I wish I had him now. I don't do much ferreting any more but he'd be good for

  26. A lot of my family and friends are city people they have literally no idea about hunting , every single one of them is against it "because of the toff's " ... The same answer every time, doesn't matter what kind of hunting you mention it's the same answer... Rarely does anyone say it's cruel.....People don't even know what hunting is anymore so they just say no

  27. i've always thought , that either a stag from Oz , or deff a stag from the usa , yote hounds the ones Dan on here uses old proven line of killing yote dogs, they deff improve our deerhound xs we got over here. them yote dogs are tackling /killing 35-40lb yotes , x back to our dogs , they piss over bloody 20lb dogfox we got here . i like deerhounds there great old breed with good temps, but our dogs got over big, unhealthy , and lost that bit of grit in them, them yote stags , would deff stiffen the back bone up of out breed here .

  28. Exciting clip to watch,..well done This is mostly the type of ferreting that we do 'darn sarf'... I enjoy catching rabbits along the hedgerows and bankings,..its invariable action-packed, and some ya catch and some ya miss, but great craic nevertheless. As for whippets,.well yes, they can get ripped up and injured, as will most dogs that are crash bang merchants,..its kinda goes with the territory. I remember chatting with an ancient rabbit catcher,.. some 40 years ago... He owned a jet black, lean and mean whippet dog. The animal was super keen and sported a pe

  34. Hiya lads. As stated previously I'm new to terriers and lost my young one to being run over a few months back. I now have a Patterdale pup I saved and a lakeland I got as a small pup. Patterdale is about a year now and my lakey about 8 months. Rabbits are non existent here. Got a permission on a chicken farm before Xmas and had no luck. Went back yesterday, bolted 4 rats and caught two. Was great seeing the dogs going and my first go with the rats. I'm learning alot from them. Here is a photo but the little girl ate the first one before I could get it from her. I thought the farm would be dead

  37. Brooks got a lot of heart , but folded in last couple, think his level set, best he could do now is take out khan, which I don't think he capable of , Khan would simply knock enough shots to his face and know he will quit, khan to silky and elusive for Kel skill range and power , to be fair to khan he never been really liked in uk, but he is a very solid world level competitor imho, has the style to make some great fights, and when he is beat he game to come back and try live with deficit, takes a good man too find his chin would of loved to see him try his luck wth Mayweather, always had a sn

  42. 14-15" and strong with it is my perfect type of terrier. I'm not a lover of these 18"+ monsters, they're nice to look at but when it gets down to the nitty gritty their size is a hindrance in most earths and they make the job more difficult IMO. At the other end of the spectrum, a small bitch with no chest is handy to have for your rabbity spots but at the same time that's usually the only job they excel at.
