  4. As much love, respect and appreciation as we all have for fallen soldiers its hard to stomach a society that demands that for 1 day of the year we act all patriotic and proud of the sacrifice men made to stop invasions that would change our lives.....but the other 364 days of the year we are so ashamed and embarrassed that we now welcome invaders with open arms..........in my opinion its all a bit of a piss on the chips to them brave, heroic people.....a fake thankyou if you like.

  5. Took my Pedersoli 10g out today. Loading it with 1&1/4oz of #5 shot it downed a fast departing pheasant. I passed on the hens. A couple of crows and squirrels fell to it alas I missed a few crows and pigeon. I observed a male goshawk and a peregrin working the pigeons on maize stubble which was interesting. Also found small fallow slots! That's new for here! Made a fire and had a rest. Back out later lamping but I'm so tired now zzzzz

  6. Okay so lukashenko is flying Kurds from Iraq to Belarus and directing them to the polish/EU border. Chance of war, Putin's obviously behind it, EU now being threatened to have their gas supply cut off. Anyway it seems remarkably similar to the EU directing migration through the whole of the continent towards the UK and somehow, enough small boats appear on a daily basis for a thousand folk to enter the UK daily, illegally..there's talk of weaponising people well it all seems a bit ironic , maybe macron will have to wind it down a bit....and what's EU gonna do to Belarus nothing I bet and

  7. It's important to try and educate people/young ones about what was sacrificed by ordinary folk doing extraordinary things. It's also a little reminder to the rest of Europe to our island's contribution and sacrifice to their current freedoms. I think their sacrifice has been betrayed by people and politicians.

  9. Think I've seen them before mate. My Grandfather and Great Grandfather both commanded battalions of Sikhs in WW1 and 2 (and various side wars). The indian army was a full time serving professional army of 200,000 men, which rose to 2.5 million. You can't really celebrate or respect the contributions of folk like my grandfather who led them, without respecting the men they led I dont think.

  10. Sounds a bit soft I know but as I've got older I've learned to be nicer to people. People in the past have been good to me and I've never forgotten. It's nice to be nice, makes you feel better, and the person on the receiving end. Some people will take advantage but just write them off.

  11. Not just on the 11th of the 11th but often think of my fathers brother killed 1941 off Alexandria on HMS Galatea three torpedos hit the ship. Didn't stand a chance being a stoker. Farmers son strong in the arm good for shovelling coal. Often wonder how he died drowned or killed by the explosion of the torpedos I hope it was quick. Gran called me by his name once apparently we looked similar when I was a youngster alway felt a connection maybe because of that. in the house by myself today gave him some thoughts. Also his cousin who was in the RAF a Spitfire pilot in Egypt who never came home. H

  12. For me collies are to frustration, irritation and stress as deerhound crosses are to peace, tranquility and low blood pressure. Had a Hancock collie/grey. Drove me fooking nuts! Bugger haunted me for 14 years. Kept thinking this will be the last year but it lived to just short of 15. Mrs and kids loved it. I f****n didn't.

  13. Is this one of your ACD crosses? Looks a handy little kur. I bred a couple of ACD bitches a good few years ago. One to one of my heavy blood collie types. Another. To a nice big racey pedigree unknown. This one (out of collie lurcher) was strong an driven as they come but a nightmare round other dogs. A pup out the other went up north an excelled at the ferreting game.

  14. Im probably the only sicko who noticed it but even when they was showing the cut outs of the fallen soldiers at Buck House they managed to sling a few turbans on them !....ok i know they've played their part but its not something we've ever seen before....which tells me they'll even exploit a special day like that in the name of diversity.......we was never asked if we wanted it so f**k your diversity !

  18. Had a Hancock once. I'm not a fan either. Lacked any drive.. I always preferred to breed my own. worker to worker. Perfect for me now having heavy collie blood though. IV got my "aim an fire" bitch but I'm not getting any younger an don't do anywhere near what I used to. Laws got insane. So an ol cur companion that looks like a mongrel kicking about the bushes an capable on a lamp is ideal for me these days.

  19. Yep! I was tempted by a gundog (as I've not been getting on with one of my other kelpies) but decided that, if I changed now ( after five kelpies during the last twenty two years) I'd probably regret it. I went back to the same breeder who bred Noggin, my ultra laid back Bob Marley-like best mate. Anyway...back to those stunning collie crosses...

  20. Back in simpler times they would be called mongrels.....what couldnt be given away would be tapped on the bonce. Strange society we now live in.

  21. I cant answer for why anyone else chooses to do it.I personally trained with my old bandog bitch because I wanted to compete with her and see if she had the ability to do what the breed was originally meant for.Saying that protection training was only a tiny part of what I did with her.She is obedience trained to a standard to which I can drop her on a whistle at 100yds and leave her in a stay for as long as I want with distractions. She is 100% stockbroken woth all livestock cattle, sheep, chickens, cats and is often out hackingwith my daughter, goddaughter and friends and can spend all day wander

  28. Yeah, I'm of a similar mind set..? I only do a wee bit of Mouching after the odd rabbit and Roe, so I don't really need much of a performance dog or high class jukel... I just use a roustabout cur, and live in hopes? Certain colours attract me,.. don't know WHY,.. but, I stopped trying to figure it out, many years ago? Spots or Speckles,...I find them all,...interesting.... Stay safe now lads,...kind regards, OldPhil.?

  38. 11am this morning I observed the 2 minutes silence, we are having a bit of a sort out in the house at the moment and came across some video discs of a visit by my wife her twin sister and Mother to Krangi War Memorial in Singapore where they visited to pay respect to their fallen Grandfather and Father who was a warrior of the Leicestershire Regiment. We watched the discs the other day and today I thought of my wife’s grandfather who gave his life, but then I was angry at the news of another 800 crossing the channel today, 1200 the last couple of days and thought what was it all for we ar
