  1. I find them no better or no worse than other types and I’ve owned most types, pures and crosses. Like getting any type, you must do your homework with the breeding, parents , etc. I obviously wouldn’t get one just for, say, ferreting or lamping rabbits. They will do that but there’s better types for the job. I mainly run hares and roe these days and the odd fox, and the deer crosses will do that as well as anything else. Its just a personal choice, I like them as they are easy to live with, and do what I want of them. Ive a soft spot for whippets, beddy’s, Salukis and

  2. WELL,..this thread (the first one with any real substance, for many a long year) just goes to show,..how very different we all are It is this incredible divergence, in both thought, deed and lurcher type, that has made the running dog world, so unique. Long may it continue...

  5. I don't think its necessarily that tbh, back then we had a country worth fighting for, I think you could make the case that ain't so today, who wants to get themselves killed for a bunch of sell out corporate cum buckets? Not me or my family.

  6. I honestly can't think of one single reason to double up on foxes other than bragging about numbers, one single is worth a 100 doubled up imo.

  7. There are plenty of shades of grey in such a conversation because there are way too many shallow, childish people of both sexes on both sides of the equation. I just think if you are propping up the bar 4 nights a week and then going home to the family and your Mrs is treating you like shit then I don’t really blame her, grow up !….the time for being 20 was when you were f***ing 20 ! Likewise, if you shack up with a bird and it’s clear she don’t want to play grown ups then don’t have a baby and hope it will all be OK, don’t waste your time having a ruck 3 times a week, just say

  10. Being so big and big boned I wouldnt rush them but nothing wrong with taking them along for a look with another dog. Beddy Dave let me tag along with the pup when she was about 6 months old to watch his young bitch working the Scottish hills. Of course I didn’t run her but she watched the action and got to taste a bit of fur. She was around 13 month when she had her first hare. Cheers.

As a younger man i seemed to attract mental women but probably like anything else in life as you mature it all starts to make a bit more sense !....my ex wife was a fantastic woman and part of me still regrets messing it all up she put up with my shit with a " theres a good man there really " attitude and became a bit of a doormat i was almost pleased for her when she got a bit of pride in herself and packed me a bag saying it was over,we remain friends to this day......id never been faithful to a woman in my life until recently from stunning really attractive women to outright pigs i just cou

  15. 1 fox 1 dog, never done it any other way not even saplings, would you double up a young terrier that has a tougher job than a lurcher. I've no experience of deer so can't speak on it but foxes I've plenty.

  16. That will never happen....the sort of Men that once made this Country Great....are all dead and buried....the youth of today would be more akin to turning on their own , robbing and looting their homeland and welcoming the enemy with open arms.....no different to whats going on in Dover etc at the minute

  18. I 100% agree with the sentiment mate, but I think our current servicemen do the job because it fits their character and they want to be a professional soldier…..I think that is a way bigger motivator than any sense of attachment to king and country. My impression is that their first loyalty is to their fellow professionals and comrades and to the profession itself….. could be wrong ? But I agree if we went looking for people now like we did in 1939 then we’d be having to press gang them…..especially as at least 20 million have no ethnic or historical attachment to the soil beneath t

  19. This is a bit of a curve ball but where does patriotism fit in all this? Vast swathes of British industry and high end property is now owned by non brits. Eighty per cent of the new oil and gas fields will be sold to the highest bidder, not to secure our own future energy needs. The British economy has relied on an endless of cheap foreign labour so R and D has never been awarded the same importance as it has in other developed countries. Also our own people do not produce enough children for various reasons, so again we rely on immigrant labour and ignore the existing social cost. Come

  20. The arguments about gutting Britains manufacturing base has been done to death so I won’t go over it again. But I’ll ask a question, who thinks that Britain outsourcing everything from steel to food production and everything in between will be coming back to bite us on the arse in the not too distant future ? We needed massive input from the United States in WW2 and that’s when we made stuff, had an empire and only 44 million people in a bigger agricultural country……we’d be absolutely f****d now surely ? Knowing how to design a gun won’t be much good if we can’t actual

  21. I agree Dyson are a prime example of R&D, designed in Britain but manufactured in Singapore so personally I no longer consider it a British product. But we have to accept making it is the part of the process that creates the most revenue and we are outsourcing it for greed and in turn becoming heavily reliant on countries like China whilst removing our abilities to manufacture our own goods, which was my point.

  22. Always thought that numbers thing didn’t make much sense. Surely instead of doubling up on 6 foxes or deer you’d have been better giving each dog 3 runs single handed. Then you actually know what you’re feeding rather than stacking the odds in the dogs favour

As I always say never tell the man who is doing it it can’t be done, the lads in that truck have real freedom, over there no one gives a f**k they are three or four up on coyote, the object of the game was is they are out having a fantastic day doing what they love,no Karen calling PETA because they are parked up on a roadside with a truck full of dogs. When in Rome.

UK public warned of military call-up if country goes to war - 'NOW you want my toxic masculinity?!' (youtube.com) Wonder if this plane going down in Ukraine will be the catalyst ?

  31. Agree 100% but what boils my piss is outsourcing it, badging it up, selling it for a 150%+ profit and then moaning you don't buy British. We then start bomb some shitty little country because supply lines are a little disrupted, Its more treacherous than the Chinese IMO.

  36. To get the best crispy on the outside and nice and fluffy chips on the inside Sid. It's best to boil them for minute for skinny fry's or two minutes if bigger then let them steam dry in a colander for a while. Then deep fry at 140c until just starting to turn golden then lift out turn the heat the oil up to 180c and cook for about one or two minutes and you get the best chips ever mate. Cheers Arry

  38. Can't see any disconnect between between supporting the lionesses and sympathising with men who are abused by women. You are deliberately misquoting me, presumably to support some private agenda of your own? I did not write: "oh isn't women's football amazing, up the lionesses". Agree there's a lot of mental illness in women, a lot of it caused by modern society. There's a lot of boorish laddishness, arrogance, false entitlement, lack of responsibility and sheer calculating sexist behaviour displayed by a good proportion of modern women too. Lots of people are scarred and f**

  42. I think a lot of men are scared of being seen as non feminists or mysoginists and go out out of their way to be ever so reasonable and let women f**k them over. Women seem to hold all the aces in relationships these days. And have no morals about getting their own way. As has been said a lot are narcissists. Many women are in their mid thirties before they marry these days and have had nearly twenty years of different relationships, clubbing and boozing. They are old enough to be grannies. They find it difficult to accept the responsibility of being wives and mothers imo. Bri

  47. It's much more widespread than abusive men. Abusive men are very very rare. Yet we all know loads of blokes who are kept away from their kids and lied about. In fact it's a pleasant surprise when you hear of a break up where men are allowed regular access to their kids. My ex once came home from a works do pissed up. I helped her up to bed and started making her comfy when she lashed out and spread my nose across my face then she promptly fell asleep. Next morning she woke up asking where the blood was from and who id been fighting. Now can you imagine if it was the other way around.....i
