  6. When I was at school at at about the age of 12 would get the black board rubber throw at me for day dreaming looking out the window. Dreaming of being out over the fields with the ferrets. Arms all scratched up from brambles like I'd been self harming from the weekends outing. There where half a dozen in my class that went ferreting and several more in the school. They all made up about four teams in my small town, us boy loved the sport and mother loved the helping put food on the table. Back to the heading the only people ferreting in the town now is four of us old lads in our 70's that

  7. So yesterday I went down to Lincolnshire to catch up with some mates, the intention was to start off with the ducks but that didn’t come to much due to a serious lack of water, although I was a bit down the lad organising it couldn’t apologise enough and has invited me back down later in the season for a duck flight on a private estate and the out on the geese ? next stop was some ruff shooting with the rifles and a bit of everything here, good fun. By now it was just starting to get dark so it was time for a kebab and a natter before we headed out after the gingers, now it was very bright and

Think it was mate i wanted to work there when i left school as most of my mates were going there but the old man put a stop to it i ended up going to Maltby pit when i was 19 after my parents gave in best thing i ever did looking back met the best mate a man could ask for a true countryman and poacher who sadly died a few years ago also it was an honour to work with lads who wouldn't stand for bullshite in the workplace unlike some of the divs and boring brown nosing arse lickers i have had to endure in the workplace since finshing at the pits.

  12. Was out before dawn this morning as the roe are out of control and the wethers cool enough for the meat not to go manky.. few of the old boys I know ain’t too good at the moment so I’ve filled there freezers for them! two are old dog lads and the oldest at 91 has been game mad all his life… one of the dog boys painted me this a few weeks back so I thought a couple of back straps a leg and few beers would be a nice thank you? both heart stoppers and dropped on the spot

  13. And I’ve offered to take you to the RAU with me on more than one occasion, so you can see and talk with the people that collect all this info, what everyone needs to understand is I,m just an old boy that likes being out in the wild, I see things and find things which I hand over to people far more qualified than myself to do what they do, I no the truth so don’t really need to prove anything to anyone, but I will always try to answer people as honestly as I can if they have a question, it’s that simple, this year I have seen several fantastic thermal films, a video of an adult with 3 cubs in

You know what, I haven’t had a kebab in years and it’s a bit of a night out ritual with that lads down there before shooting and yes I went chilli mental and told him to hold the salad, it was bloody handsome one thing I forgot to mention was the sticks ( tripod) I was using, my mate got a lend of them from Scott County to do a review on them, they are Rekon 260 rips edition, they are unbelievable they are like shooting off a bench but standing up, you have got no chance of pulling a shot because nothing moves, I thought, I’ve got to have some of these, then I was told the price, fu*k me

I said before a long time ago that now, as an older bloke, I realise we should have supported the miners because it meant so much more than just “the industry”……at the time I was young and just viewed it through the prism of The Sun and Scargills is a commie b*****d so f**k em type thing. They were standing in the way of Thatchers brave new, get out and get it for yourself world to lads like me……how f***ing wrong were we ?!! What a bollocks up we sowed the seeds for and allowed to happen.

  29. Bit dark..... I had an ace afternoon and evening. First I went squirrel shooting on maize stubble. Not many there but got two. Enjoyed watching some stonechats. The local wild goshawks have got the pheasants keeping a low profile! And there are less crows and magpies! I used them as bait by dragging them across a field where I got busted the night before by Charlie. Sat and waited but it never appeared but Jess's nose was going nuts at one point, there was one about for sure. Anyway it never showed so I went back to the car but a dog fox started barking so went lampin

  32. One of my favourite times of year. I don’t get involved with all the keepering stuff anymore, but I love dogging in. I’m fortunate to have a very nice self contained signature drive to dog in on two minutes from home. Sounds daft but I have lads come over just to put a sensible number of birds in front of their dog. Its quite pleasing seeing three figures picked on the drive you have been looking after and have the keeper say in front of the whole line “that’s your hard work”. Which is of course modest nonsense, there’s much more to keepering than running spaniels about, but it shows genu

But yeah for a host of reasons me and my best friend ended up back together earlier this year mainly because where both sick and tired of trying to date people we really don't get along with so . 41. Not trying to have the last word mate. You have mellowed mate and thats good. I have no proof at all but I strongly believe there are big cats out there only from all the accounts around here. Friends and farmers have told me of their sighting in great detail and I know them they are not bull shitters. Not one of the people that have told their stories have every gone to the press in fact won't even talk about it unless encouraged by asking them. What I would say there were far more sightings 20 years ago. Still the odd one now and then and seem alway black ones here now. C

  43. After carefully reading this thread, I listened to both sides of the fence. Absorbed it all and came to my own conclusion. Man up ya fanny..........lol In all seriousness I've never ever had permo. But I've also never boomeranged back on any ones land who's been kind enough to take me out. Lurchers were born and formed around hopping the hedge for as long as they have been around, that's just the way it is. But I've also never left gates open or had woody pullers either. And even if you are poaching you still respect the land !! Sure I've been caught on land and also

It’s pathetic now as he does none of that . That’s why he can’t function in social circles as he’s incapable of criticism and acts like a bird , finding insults where there is none or being offended by proxy for any one of a myriad of causes . Mind numbing . anyway , was just yesterday walking my dog up the high street local to me and had him in a lead . He’s very placid and friendly being a lab , everyone’s pal , oratory

  47. local mooch this morning, she put a couple of rabbits up but didn't get a clear run at either. she's now 13 months old ,only had 1 rabbit a squirrel a mole and 2 pigeons. opportunities are limited locally. first whippet and despite whippet lads on here telling me that they would do anything a beddywhippet would I had my doubts. can only say so far they were spot on,she hunts up well is a natural marker and will find and put stuff out brambles ,cover even nettles.

  48. Yes, mate, I understand Slieghty is in on the project with Platt. I know a couple of my mates pure Deerhounds went down to Platts, although some people are denying it, I don't know why, they are well bred with plenty of Doxhope blood, and I can't see the problem, unless it doesn't fit in with their narrative. Ive had most pures and crosses and a few first cross deer/greys, I don't rate them any better or worse than any other type, it's horses for courses, or hounds for grounds, for me, and, like you, they suit what I do, and I just like and get on with them.
