He`s just 13 yrs old and a medium build, the closest and easiest guns in my cabinet turned out to be the 100`s for him. Well I put him on a golf ball size target at 38 yds and he managed to hit it 6/6 times with the 100 kt .177. Then I put him onto the pigeon simulated target and he managed to hit it most times , not bad for a brand new 13 yr old, no wonder Big Mac ( Jimmy) likes the 100`s so much Anyway I took him to a small wood for pigeon but he watched only as I wouldn`t allow wounded pigeon.

This is the time of year me and ian and craig would normally do a "brancher"cull for a keeper on the borders but landowner informed keeper to leave them for his visiting friends. Dissapointed but we knocked on a farm just a mile from that one and farmer was more than happy to have us on as long as we culled a few ferals as well as the branchers , thoroughly enjoyed the day out rapids in use

That was a problem Jimmy, he`s not the biggest 13 yr old in town and my spring rifles butts were above his shoulder to get his eye anywhere near the scope. I stopped that scenario straight away . I love the romanticism of the good old days, but if we're honest, a lot of bullshit was spouted about dogs and there was no one there to disprove it or tell the truth. I think in this day and age of internet etc, the bullshitters are soon found out etc and the terriers are all the better for it IMO.

People can be very quick to call others bullshitters when they mention something they've seen in the hunting field. But those who've done a lot of hunting will have seen things others will say is impossible and will be called bullshitters. As a result it wont get spoken about. But when lads have the balls to mention or write about exceptional hunting feats those who've witnessed similar incidents will know what they mean and such things are possible. BUT, such privileges are usually given to those who spend a hell of a lot of time in the field.
