  1. If anything reading the terribly sad story’s on this thread should make you all feel like you ain’t alone. Theres story’s here that would have most men unable to stand up in the morning, crushing…..and yet ordinary every day blokes find a way to carry on. Nobody can take another blokes pain away but this thread is testiment to the fact that people just like “you” can find a way to cope and live and contribute some kindness to the world…..that’s the very best way to honour someone imho.

  2. Loosing a child as well as both parents plus a few very good mates all of them I will have the odd thought about them most days usually by reading or seeing something that will remind of them though i don't sit there drinking or pondering too much as making myself feeling depressed won't bring them back and it's something they wouldn't want me to do anyway.

  3. Thank you lads. I’ve spent the day balling my eyes out, scaring people with my attitude, yelling, getting beat by the mrs at pool, forcing myself to eat, nearly threw the fridge out of the window coz it packed up and I’m pretty sure Spotify knows how to piss me off coz the song I had to carry our kid too just randomly came on in a rock list. My mum has Alzheimers so I can’t talk to her about it because it makes it like it just happened again for her. My mrs has been my rock today and kept me out of bother. My head is battered yet you lads have shared your hearts and helped keep me sane..

  5. Fair play for having the enormous strength to do all that. Be proud of yourself coming out the other side of an impossibly difficult time. Be kind to yourself and trust in some of your actions and forgive yourself others. Might be worth seeing if you can have someone else try to help with PTSD. Hope you get your self sorted .

  8. Trying to lay anything level, ot even flat is a challenge in this place.. String lines along every joist, had to cut firings to take out the bow so we can eventually tile the floor in this bathroom, it's straight now and fairly level... what a game!

  9. I’m not a fan of burning books….didn’t the Nazi’s do that ? Ive read the Bible, the Quran, Mien Kampf, The Communist Manifesto, and many other “contentious” books and I’d rather read them and make my own mind up than have someone burning books and telling me what I can or can’t read. What if the anti’s and Greens started burning hunting books ? Cheers.

  10. Another soapbox subject for me…..another national shame. For context, don’t you think it’s hideous that we have allowed our country to get to a point where people feel they need CCTV on the f***ing front door ? Its a massive marker of our collective decline imho Any sane government would be aiming for a society where you don’t feel the need to have such things

  15. Jimmy would be to small as a family car imo .. My choice would be one from the VAG group of cars. Depending on the money you want to spend . A VW Tiguan are a good size family car any VAG estate , most will hit 200 plus thousand miles if looked after .

I've a Skoda superb 4x4 , went to a dealer for the first time ever as couldn't find anything, went for a Passat all road but it had gone so got this superb, it's one of largest estates it's economical especially as previous motor was a guzzling XC90 . I say pick a few models and find the best example for your budget. And prey to the car gods you don't get pig

  27. Bless you for sharing that mate . What I will say is That I’ve seen things that would shred a lot of people mentally and I’ve buckled with things that others take in Their stride . There’s no rising scale of traumatic events and impact , each is individual and personalised to you . Trauma is an aspect that wears many faces , for some it’s a memory that spurs people to greater heights . For some it’s a rock that pulls them down . What I will say with my own black dog thoughts is that they dogged me for a long time , it was constantly in the back of my mind and was the last thing I th

  35. My only sibling, my brother died at 23, I was 32, 30 years ago this year. Because I'm a spiritual person I believe we will meet again and I'm looking forward to that day, he paved the way and I have no fear of dying myself now. I like to remember the laughs and good times we had and you have to remember he is still your brother even though his mortal body has gone. I still get teary at times and always will but I know he is waiting for me so that gives me comfort and I can still feel the love.

  38. One of the best quotes I've heard about pain of losing a loved one is from a TV series " what is grief, but love persevering "
    2 points
  39. Your brother is just better at hiding it mush. He's hurting just as much as you are. My own bitter experience, is that the pain never leaves you. You just learn how to hide it. Sometimes your hiding it from the world , and sometimes you're hiding it from yourself. It does you good to take a look at it from time to time , and just have a cry , and let the pressure out. You aren't on your own mush , lots of lads on here will know exactly how you feel , and what you're going through. Not many people get through life without a few deep scars mate.
