That's pretty much the way that I always saw things mack , but I'm watching things change daily , and the country seems to be accelerating rapidly downhill. The minimum wage has become the maximum wage. Zero hours contracts , and agency work , is becoming the norm . Even the real grafters are having a tough time at the moment. I sincerely hope that things change in the near future . I have a couple of mates that have kids living in caravans on the drive , and one mate that built a big shed in the garden for his son. It's a sorry state of affairs , when a hard working young bloke can b10 points

Life doesn't always work out the way you expect it to. My late wife ( the mother of my two children), passed away at 37. The kids were 11 and 13 . To be honest , from the day that they were born , we'd always tried to teach them all the skills that they'd need in life . by the time they went to school , they could already read and write , swim , cross a road safely . All the basic skills that they'd need if ever we weren't around to help them. By the time we lost their mom , both of them were pretty much capable of running a house. It's just as well that we did really , because when10 points

I have two older kids of 21 & 22…..both cracking along doing alright, I just take a view of if you want to go and do something off you go and when you want to come home, just come home ! My oldest has in the last 3 years moved out, moved to wales, moved back again, moved to Belfast, bought a house and sold a house…..and she has a great job and now she is at home until she decides what she wants to do next. The younger has gone and moved in with the boyfriend, has a decent job on good money and is happy for a minute, if she changes her mind she just comes home…..whatever, couldn’t8 points

I agree with you mate kids especially grown up kids need more help these days more than I ever did in the 70s and early 80s same as my eldest grandson who is in his early 20s and is under the autism spectrum though thankfully he leads a relatively normal life in full time work and my daughter watches over his finances and has enough money for a deposit for his own place though it's nearby so my daughter can help and keep an eye on him. Even though I have 5 grandkids 4 lads and a granddaughter i worry about them more than I did my own two and that's down to this changing world and country.8 points

Just the opposite mate ! I was 13 when I got my first whippet and listening to the old timers was where I got my grounding in running dogs. Im a great believer in some of the old sayings; ”Sometimes it’s best to stay silent and appear ignorant , than to speak and remove all doubt”; ”A little knowledge can be a dangerous thing”; There’s lads on here that have been kind enough to invite me onto their permission, and they will tell you the first thing I say is “if there’s something I’m doing wrong , tell me, if there’s something I should be doing, tell me”. Im never7 points

I don't think mack is on a high horse , he's probably just like most of us that are getting a bit older , and just hasn't been in the mix with it yet . I very much saw things like mack , but the last few years , the whole world has changed drastically. The uk has gone to rat shit since covid . Its been slowly trundling downhill for years , but since covid , its plummeting out of control . i see young guys that i work with , eating jam sandwiches for lunch , because they cant afford anything else . Some of them walk miles to work , because they cant afford the bus fair , and can6 points

Must admit I always wanted to try all flavours....although it was just all white birds till my mid 20,s...then I ended up working in nottingham on the doors...and all of a sudden I was bombarded with black girls...which I found I was very attracted to... My first long term Mrs was half pole...and she had skin like a Greek...but then working the doors everything gets thrown at you also working in Ibiza helped...I had and 18 month relationship with a Nigerian lass..3 or 4 born and bred Jamaican...Indian girl who was Hindu...Somalian girl...a real Getto Lass from Brixton... Yes I liked6 points

At about 12 / 13 we had a big horrible ginger c**t of a teacher Mr.Bishop he would stand in as Pe teacher from time to time....he was a cruel sadistic wanker who picked out the biggest toughest kids ( 12 / 13 year olds ! ) to humiliate.....none of us would dare go home and tell our parents it just wasnt the done thing back then but this one day he took us over the field for footie,he was referee.....a friend of mine had a real hang up about his big ears, was always getting in fights over them.....it was pissing down and this Mr.Bishop had a right go at the big eared kid, taking the piss till he5 points

I remember my son being bullied at school, one mouthy little bsatard in particular was making his life a misery, after fruitless attempts to get the school to deal with it, I took it upon myself to resolve the situation. I battered fcuk out of the lads father in his front garden for not taking his son in hand and my parting words were any other bully by his child I'd do the same to him again and again. Needless to say the bullying stop, wasn't my finest decision to to take action in that way but it worked. I detest bullies5 points

When back in the day, as the saying goes, I myself had several bull crosses who would hold the pig by the end of the nose, they would normally have some damage under the jaw, but it was a safe place to hold over all. A hunt that springs to mind was when I'd caught a sow on heat, and one weekend and had seen the marks of a bigger boar, so I knew the boar would be hanging around hand. The very next weekend, my brother and I decided to hunt the same block of native bush again, looking for the big boar, so after checking a number of places any pigs in the area like to nest up in with no luck, the4 points

I have long been a massive fan of Zziplex beach rods linked to a multiplier reel but in September of last year I had a thought about a three piece rod as we were going on holiday to our favourite place in Suffolk but taking our guns, fresh water fishing gear and 7ft sections of beach rods seemed a bit too much and linked to this, I have been getting a few people coming for a casting lesson with these 3 piece rods. How can I help to improve their casting if I don't use a 3 piece rod myself bearing in mind that some of these rods have been known to snap so I have to be careful what advise I giv3 points

Broke through this morning to the gifted dog mentioned here.He has done great his first season.Working like an old soul for the last six months. He is a credit to his breeder.Im thankful to feed him. The American terriers are like an apple. You see the pretty outside. So you try it.You realize quickly that the peel doesn't taste good. The peel is the peddlers and Facebook heroes. Pretty on the outside but tastes like shit.We dig deeper and reach the sweet part of an apple. These are the people who have a couple terriers and dig when time allows. They generally dont breed terriers.Ju3 points

Exactly the same here, my eldest is back with us after her split with her bloke, it will always remain the safety net and first place to call.. we've got more than enough space, it's bonkers in here sometimes but I kind of like it that way..lol3 points

I don’t know about “ruling and dominating” , LOL !, but I’m old enough to to remember racing whippets with some of the top coursing mens dads ! You’ll know that running hares up here around the borders on the fells and uplands is a completely different game to running on the fens and flatlands. Running the white hares on the frozen heather and scree is different again ! It’s great to get about and try different scenarios, I have a wry smile when people say their hares/rabbits/deer are the best. Cheers3 points

Sorry mate , I knew it was a joke . My reply just made me sound like a knob . It's never been easy to get a start in life , but it's getting to the point that no amount of hard work can get you on the way either. By the same token , young people are changing as well . Not many are keen to do the shite jobs these days , and with the minimum wage becoming the maximum wage , the incentive to try harder and earn more , has been taken away from them. It would be interesting to know how many homes could be freed up if we started sending immigrants back to the places that they came fr3 points

id agree with that chart but you do meet good straight lads aswell but believe everything you see your eyes dont lie lol3 points

I did say it in jest , but it's also a bit of a throwaway comment , failed as a parent if kids aren't moved out in twenties, I guess you could say this if the state provided affordable housing and didn't control the UK market through building the last few governments have made it a manifesto pledge and all have failed on it. Rent is at an all time high in value and demand, it's next to impossible to save for a mortgage whilst paying rent. You hear more stories of people moving back into parents along with their own young families to allow opportunity to save a deposit just for the opportunity3 points

Maybe mate each dog is different though just like football players some are more injury prone than others. I personally wouldn't know about those dogs blowing a gasket but what I would say is I'd be cautious of any man telling stories about another mans breed especially in the dog game! seeing is believing only judge with your own eyes. you will get good and bad in any breed anyone says any different is talking shite. You also need a good manager behind the dogs all well and easy blaming the dogs but no good if the man holding the lead ain't getting the best out of them.3 points

I have a 26 year old step son who lives in a caravan in my garden and has done for the last 6 years,he's pretty much worked from when he left school and apart from a few years of pissing it up he just cannot afford to move out and pay over a grand a month for rent. I know of at least 4 others living in caravans in the parents gardens, so sorry to read your story bud and glad you all have sort of come out the other end ok...3 points

Not by the time you pay for housing, health care and land rights. My best mate is indigenous but he just has something lacking compared to a Swedish lady.3 points

I was told that grizzly when building up fat during the autumn salmon run are inedible due to their 100% fish diet,I have been 50 yards off the upper reaches of a salmon river at the ending of the run and you can smell the river before you see it,rotting dead fish,I can only imagine the taste of bear after eating salmon for a month.3 points

I think with bear a lot depends on what they have been feeding on. A fall bear that's been eating oats and berries all summer is meant to be superb. One that's had a lot of fish or been raiding trash for its diet is often on the other end of the scale, at least that's what a lot of people round here say.3 points
