This was my first ever running dog Jess. Picked her up at 8 weeks old and I clueless about lurchers or hunting.. she has taught me a lot these past 8 years, I was 16 when I got her and just wanted to walk and hunt all the time . Safe to say she done as well as she could with little training. She is a collie x collie whippet greyhound and in her prime a bit of a machine but now all them stupidly long walks when she was too young are catching up with her and she’s abit stiff after a nights lamping but still puts a shift in. Lucky she is a durable cross I think we all probably started out like t16 points

My first running dog was a non-ped whippet back in the 60’s. Raced and hunted and I got the bug ! Had five or six whippets then moved on to lurchers, latest one is a first x deer/grey bitch , from one extreme to the other ! I’ve had most pures and crosses, some good , some not, but had fun with them all. Might end up back with a whippet before it’s to late. Cheers.7 points

He is not suffering anymore. Buried him next to his brother with his own apple tree. My Pip the lurcher wouldn't leave him alone last few days. When he went we let her see him, she came in and was trying to cover him up with a blanket. She is grieving as well as us.6 points

So we just got power back last night after 11 days !! 5 days without water ! Luckily (?) we prep a little bit for such eventuality’s but that was pushing it, house got freezing after about 3 days but we retained our fireplace so was able to light a fire. All huddled in one room in the dark at night. It’s been a bit of a “just survive” job. Thank f**k for something as simple as a Kelly kettle.5 points

I was the same when I first got over here and had no interest in hunting bears or wolves. I think a lot of that I was down to the image the media / Disney/ antis portray of them. But after a couple of years I realised for me it's no different to hunting fox back home, there is a ton of them here and they do cause problems. Plus spring time is boring as f**k (you can't fish April / May with the ice break up) and bear season is the only thing to do.5 points

Nick Tenconi of UKIP would be my choice but unfortunately hes a bit of a lone wolf and stands no chance so as much as it pains me I think Reform are our only possible option. As it stands I think the UK have got the government it deserves, the people who allowed these parasites to get in should hang their heads in shame.4 points

My pal at the allotments has just built a new loft and filled it with some very expensive pigeons. He’s got an intruder deterrent system that wouldn’t be out of place in the Korean DMZ. Nail boards , trip wires, cctv etc , and he’s just fitted one of those poacher type things that fires a blank 12 bore cartridge if the loft door is opened. Now I was there when he tested it, so I knew what was going to happen, but I almost had a clutcher when it went off ! I think I’ve talked him out of loading it with a live cartridge, but he’s a headstrong young lad ! Any scumbag ra3 points

Reminds of a little story...yrs ago,me and a few mates went out ferreting on my birthday,my Oldman and middle brother tagged along...we found a pheasant pen,and was inside knocking a few birds over....heard a shout, and all started running.... managed to get out of this little Dingle, was walking along the top of an old quarry...we all jumped over this fence...when it was my brother's turn, the fat cnut got his one foot stuck between 2 pieces of wire and ended upside down by his leg lol...he couldn't move,he shouting help me Dad...we all looked at each other...f****d off out of sight, sat down for3 points

Did similar in my younger days, thinking with my dick...ended up leaving the Rat everything and walking away...Maybe I was lucky,I put a 15 k deposit down,of my own money on my first house at 23,3 months after meeting my current Mrs...cost us 75k,got my head down, and just plugged away..never wanted to upgrade to a bigger pad, always had the money to cover the bills and go and do what we wanted, eat where and what we wanted, holidays and all the toys I ever fancied, always been comfortable..while everyone else was getting it all on the drip....I'm not rich by any means, but what I do have is mine,and3 points

That's a fair point, i still love to watch bears when i come across one, or listen to wolves howling at night, its just i now have no issue putting one down when needed. I am sure most on here love watching wildlife, even though we hunt. I have seen some pretty cool stuff since been over here, without a doubt the best was sat in a treestand with my son when a pack of 6 or 7 wolves of came past at about 50yds, leapfrogging each other while the stopped ones scanned ahead, it was awesome.3 points

I worked 12 hour night shifts for years ( admittedly it was 4 on 4 off ) when I was gaffer at a tanker company and I loved it, it’s been about 14 years since I’ve done nights and I don’t think you could pay me enough now to do them again. If you’re good at what you do there will always be work for you, when I rapped in the mechanic work my phone never stopped with job offers back on the tools, it’s been over 5 years now and I still get a call now and then i’d bit the bullet if they don’t give you what you want, there’s always work for grafters3 points

Out and about ,still looking at boats, just got back from Birmanigga..... money is not the problem, finding a suitable mooring to accommodate us for what we need is lol... waiting lists, and more rules than f***ing school lol,is slowly starting to boil my piss and put me off...looking at a few different options... Could just buy a couple of holiday chalets somewhere nice with a lake etc,and make an income from them, still keep the house ,rent it out as it's mortgage free?Or f**k it,and move the family and buy somewhere nice in Spain/France and try and make a go of it? I've listened to gangster rap/hip hop since the 80's...never carried a knife in a public place, thinking, give me shit and I'll shank you,or ever shot some cnut lol... We are all products of the environment we are brought up in,you see your parents out grafting to put food on the table, then most will follow suit....if you go about lying, cheating and stealing, then your little uns are going to go the same way....like when you get a new dog,if you don't teach it the basics, you end up with a cnut that's hard work Problem today is, most parents try and be your friend, easier to just throw3 points

The one prick even had 200,000 compo because he couldn't get a hard on after being shot...the whole case was a f***ing joke from start to finish3 points

The days of the UK righting-wrongs worldwide are long gone,UK should be concentrating on cultural and self-survival,we can't complain about others eroding British culture if we are complaining about theirs, not our problem, not our concern, nothing to do with us.2 points

I suppose it comes down to different scenarios to use deadly force by means of a firearm. I would have no hesitation in using a firearm if I was in possession of one against a burglar entering my house wether he was fleeing or helping himself to food out of the fridge . Then there is other scenarios say using deadly force to deter trespassers on land you were keepering on for instance. Some one around pheasant coverts on a night who would also be armed i could understand the keeper using a gun to deter them though not using a gun on say a lone lamper running off wile lamping rabbits. I listen to the meateater podcast every week and I have to say the American model for wildlife management sounds incredibly controlled and thought out . The way tag limits can rise and drop over the years to meet the population is a great way to run things If a set number of a certain species needs to be culled in a year then I'd rather it be by hunters whose money goes back into funding of animal research and conservation. I can't remember what the "act" or law was but basically all tags for animals goes straight back into wildlife and has zero talen on it for other government spending2 points

Nope never tried it pal but a lot of people do, (the griz are protected here and cannot be hunted, black bear are common though and an over the counter tag to hunt). Just to note over 60% of Alberta is crown land, and there is no need to get permission to hunt it, you just have to make sure you follow the seasons, bag limits etc. The fish and wildlife officers here have more power than the coppers and dont feck about lol... Edited to add the 60% includes some parks like Jasper / Banff where you cant hunt, (but there is still a ton of land where you dont need permission)2 points

He was originally charged, and found guilty of murder and sentenced to life with a minimum of nine years . The charge was reduced to man slaughter on appeal on grounds of diminished responsibility, and his sentence was reduced to five years, of which he served three. An absolute disgrace, he should have been seen as a hero for defending himself and his home, in my opinion, but the establishment doesn’t want us to take the law into our own hands, which would be fair enough, if they meted it out fairly ! Cheers.2 points
