There was a piece on local news the other day. Apparently the wild fires we had a couple of years ago on our local moors are a sign of global warming. Of course it's nothing to do with the fact someone was arrested for arson, the keepers aren't allowed to burn firebreaks in the heather, the heather and moor grass is long and rank, and the farmers and keepers who acted as 24hr fire watchers and first responders have been removed. We live in the age of bullshit10 points

THey have simply changed the way they record weather data to suite an agenda, a yearly average of 500 000 acres of land are destroyed by fires across Europe on an annual basis, it’s just not been pushed on to every TV set before, my daughter is in Greece at the moment having a lovely cheap holiday ? by using monthly averages instead of annual average it has allowed them to claim this year was hotter than 1976 well sorry but for anyone old enough to remember that’s a fecking lie and this is going down as the hottest July in history , you only need to open the curtains to no you are being lied t8 points

Had an evening on the fishery tonight.. fished the specimen pond for the first time after perch.. Only one decent one, 25 or so bream, half a dozen nice crucians and loads of roach, smashed by 3 big carp! Shame there's only 6 swims on this one as it would be decent in the match..7 points

There was someone on GBNews yesterday that quoted a load of “facts” to rebut a Climate Change Nut. He said last year in the UK there were five times the number of people died of cold than died of the heat. He did an algorithm of deaths/temperature rise and concluded that a temperature rise of 1.4 degrees would save thousands of lives in the UK ! So, as someone once said; “there are lies, damned lies, and statistics “ ! Or; “don’t believe all you are told” ! Cheers.5 points

Seems to be a big up take for threads on off grid living or self sustainability so thought I would stick it in here lads because the 'living of land and game cooking' section doesn't get much traffic We are working towards producing our own meat and veg, will take some time but oong term goals. Half a dozen young chickens at the min, another dozen in incubator (expecting 6 at most). Turkeys going in next week when these hatch.....or not CPH applied for today for the pigs that are next on list. The patch of brambles is what I have bought to put the hogs on moving forwar4 points

When I had my old tipper I’d have about 10 empty bays around it when I parked it in the super market car park,4 points

Don't know the stats etc, but I live 10 miles north of Cardiff, and so far, this has probably been one of the wettest July's I can remember. With temperatures on dry days around the 22ish degree mark.4 points

just bought this today and set it up in the back garden at about 15m.this air rifle is so much better than my hw,s it is unreal.why do hw not just spend a little more to produce something that can compete.only put maybe 20 shots though it as to not upset the neighbours too much but i am very impressed.looking like maybe my 3 other hw,s will be left in the cabinet and maybe even sold.only niggle is that bear trap add on but you soon get used to it.only downside is 5 tins of aa pellets just cost me £90 from the nearest shop that had them in stock.3 points

I read something awhile ago, cannot remember where, that in Australia their fire brigade are studying how the aboriginies used to manage the land using fire and that some UK fire brigades where taking instruction from those who used to be able to manage our upland areas effectively but are now no longer allowed. To prevent or better manage these "wild fires".3 points

I hope not to bore yall but I returned to the fish trap as I felt a real connection with the place.I never camp in the same place twice but I made an exception for this place. When I arrived the water was muddy and catfish had moved in. Supper was a sirloin cut in chunks.Soaked in Moores spicy marinade.Few peppers and mushrooms. This was the best tasting meal I've ever cooked on a creek bank. I listened to a good coonhound race just before falling asleep. I woke up at 430.Started the fire for coffee when I heard squawking at the edge of my camp then chirps and3 points

Spence for me but wish it was before the car crash just think his size, power and constant pressure will throw Crawfords more technical game into disarray, as mike Tyson once said everyone has a plan until they get a smack in the mouth, but it is a real 50/50 just need dubious to knock out usyk and Naganu to finish fury and my year will be complete ?2 points

If there was another way to buy some of the guns and gear, we would but they now have so many brands, it is very difficult not to deal with them. I am just pleased for my friend now all is good and as an afternote he bagged 2 ferals, 3 woodies and 3 crows on the first time out and only out for an hour before the activity dried up so he is a happy chappy. One of those artists who if I were to overthink it would probably not be a fan of but without thinking I always liked her. A beautiful voice and a beautiful looking girl in the younger days. Possibly more sinned against than a sinner? I don't know. And to lose a child, tragic. God bless her, rest in peace.2 points

Just came out of the cinema after watching Oppenheimer,it was ok,but for me the most interesting part was finding a dead groundhog that wasn’t outside the cinema when I went in.2 points
