I only come on here for the polished literary style and eloquent conversation…..and I must say, I’m never disappointed !

Just checked 13 years I've been a member on here and I had mooched around reading the site as a guest for many years before. Apart from some of the brilliant information I've taken from the members on here past and present I also liked the the fact you could pretty much say what you wanted. I love the different topics debated on the GT forum and in some cases I have even have had my opinions changed. The humour has been off the scale at times and brightened up my days but just recently I've noticed some more interesting and prominent posters are either posting less or just disappeared.

Light lure fishing on the local canal and first time fishing for my 4 year old grandson, he only lasted 15 minutes but I loved every bit of it.

Right beside santa Monica pier,one of the best steaks i have had,their ageing room is huge,even the bread was freshly cooked and served with vermont cultured butter and quince and goat cheese spread.

We would put up full posts of days out, with great pics (seanC is a pro photographer), pretty much every weekend I'd write a full post and it would be buzzing, JohnnyBoy and Jai would put good posts up on a Saturday night of their days ferreting... there would be good chat in the Lurcher section, we'd post a lot in fishing section as well... its how it's gone mate, the hunting sections are barely used.. im not into shooting but would read.tbr section fairly regularly... I guess time has moved on and there is only so many times we can write the same sort of things... plus half the members

It's changed a lot mate, shame really... met loads of good lads off here, a few blokes who are genuinely good friends now.. the majority are decent and share very similar view points and interests

The accessibility of modern carp waters and the ease of buying gear on line has reduced the skill imo.. learning on a canal, or river made you have watercraft... even at sea I'm constantly looking for a boil in the water, gulls working, flattening off of areas of water (showing a change of depth, or bottom), rougher areas where the tide runs harder etc.. the same story on a river, reading the water was key.. getting pissed in a bivvy for 3 days and leaving the rods out ain't fishing imo.. Yeah,...its just a personal decision Brother ,...I've nothing against any genuine hunting man,.. doing what his conscience dictates,...I've been killing , various quarry, for over 65 years,...and I just felt that, for me,.. enough was enough. I’ve got a Rabbit shooting thread going on the shooting forum and only one person shows any interest ( Stav ) now being a hunting site you would think more people would show an interest, start a thread on whose wife is fitter or fatter or some old bollocks like that and it’s pages and pages long with numerous reply’s ect, it does put you off posting on hunting related topics, I mean it is after all a Hunting Site.

Fair play and good on you to low plains drifter , that’s two of THL Massive Kyle has the good fortune to bump into . He’s seems to travel very light with hardly any gear in his ruck , not even an air mat or cooking stuff, no meths stove or pots. Very minimal. Hats off to him. Must admit would love a crack at that , only for a month or so or maybe more to do the coast or something. Just to switch off from life, work , hassle and stresses .
