Completely agree, although at times just to have the normality of a new build would be nice! Lol The cellar in this place dates back to 1054, it's all built on an old saxon long house, with the first bit done in Tudor times, then a Georgian extention to the rear and a 2 bed annexe about 30 odd years ago, the history is great and I'm trying to keep as much as possible intact, but lath and plaster walls and ceilings are a twat, cob walls are a twat, branches for joists are complete twats! This little lake gets busy weekends/in the holidays with the local youngsters,they are a good bunch of kids tbf,keeps them all out of trouble ,we had a few of the korda lads over last weekend,brought a shitload of free gear,rods, reels,line,bait, sunglasses etc,for a competition for the under 16's...young lad won it with a 25 lb common and a 19 lb mirror,first prize was a spot on the welsh team,everyone who entered had free Polaroid glasses,baseball caps,5 kilos of bait,buckets,rig wallets etc.

Why the f**k i brought a f****d up, ancient farmhouse I'll never know... the pain is real!! Lol But... I'm cracking at it, my usual 18 hour days once I get my head around it...must be mental! Lol

My first springer bought as a six week old pup from a lad on the estate I live about 1986 not long after I had to sell the first house I bought due to being on strike for a year and moving into the council house I am in now. Reading your comments I honestly think you would gel with a gundog breed. I remember when I got my first springer after failing with a few terriers to work along my lurchers daytime I know lads have had great success with terrier lurcher combinations but I just couldn't gel with the couple of terriers I had and as I got a terrier after the lurchers all they were more interested in was following the lurchers about knowing they could get their teeth into something like a rabbit or an hare. Just back from Orkney so I thought I’d update the lads that commented on the thread. Bit of a trek to get there. 16 hours drive and then the 2 hour ferry. Worth every minute though. Everything mentioned above is true. Friendly people, remoteness, good fishing, plenty of military history and lots to do. We seen some fantastic places with not another person in sight. I’ll be heading back up there but hopefully for a longer trip.
