  1. Tbh even though I supported the strike a 100pct and stuck it out till the bitter end I lived about 7 miles away from the pit I worked at so did not get the help from the food kitchens sett up in mining villages and I only went picketing a few times it put me off idiots smashing and turning car's over one night picketing Dinnington pit. I spent the winter of the strike poaching anything edible and saleable to look after my family.

  3. Our housing systems and health care provision is overwhelmed now and has been since before COVID. The people who oversaw the COVID debacle have just seen fit to let three quarters of a million more people from the 3rd world enter that system. Something, somewhere, tells me that those in charge possibly don't want the best for us and aren't to be trusted ?

  13. There's a Durham Miners Gala every year in July. It's a celebration of working class community, solidarity and internationalism. 200000 people generally attend. All the old pit villages still parade their banners. Miners who stuck it out and miners who were beaten up and fitted up by the police at Orgreave are feted as heroes. I find it really moving. But I know a lot on here will laugh and sneer at that.

  17. Amazing for West Ham and West Ham fans, a night to remember!! Get Wilfs points about Moyes, he isn't a modern style manager and when you look at what Brighton, Brentford etc are doing there is so much to be admired about that style of play, its brave to keep playing the ball around no matter the opposition... moyes in the main has been good for West Ham, giving the fans European football and now a Cup to celebrate, last year without the Cup would've been a disaster though it kind of papers over the cracks... The situation now is West Ham are selling their best player and bringing in

A very important part of our history I can’t imagine anyone sneering or laughing, I was on holiday once and met an older couple who were celebrating their honeymoon we hit it off straight away he was an ex miner and he said to me look at the footage of the Battle of Orgreave where the horses charge and a telegraph pole or a lamppost I can’t remember which was knocked over, his claim to fame was it landed straight on his head lol he was from around the Notts area a great solid down to earth bloke. When I watch footage of Orgreave I admit it is emotional to see working men fighting for thei

  33. I get the uneasy feeling with modern comedians that they want to show how clued up andsmart arsed they are. It doesn't have to be like that. Les Dawson could get people clutching their sides with a well timed joke about a woman who was constantly pregnant and blamed her pregnancies on living near a sausage factory.Same with Benny Hill. Humour doesn't always depend on smart arses , left or right. The old comedians were all cancelled and their humour deemed not suitable. Nothing wrong with old fashioned comic culture. Shame it was cancelled/ censored.

  34. This time of yr,I only take the odd rabbit with wires or the odd duck/squirrel/wood pigeon with a catty , purely for fresh ferret food(freezers always full with what we catch through the season and the raw for the dogs anyway)..I leave any cubs alone these days unless asked to deal with them..I know loads of lads who don't stop? spend all summer killing anything half grown? ...I used to be that ruthless...that's not for me now...I like to spend the summer evenings fishing up the river or down the coast, and take a dog and a kid or 2...find that stops the Mrs moaning to much in the season then?

I watched a brief clip on the news about it and was not surprised to hear the newsreader say he was a Christian no doubt if he had been a Muslim that would have not been said.

No, no, no, to discredit something it must first be creditable n'est-ce pas?But OK, let's disregard the space motorhome, this is when he was an adult, aliens beaming down to his bedroom, really? And your argumentum ad hominem, you denigrate the person making points rather than adress the points themselves.Do you believe aliens beamed down to chat to him about the state of the planet? This isn't an attack on you so stop taking criticism of the subject as such.

One of the worst things to happen besides people dieing because they couldn't get treatment for other illnesses is the education of our young some like a couple of my grandson's who are struggling now due to the schools being closed.
