  2. Well, I hope that you can continue with the Hare hunting, I honestly do...? We have loads of hares here, so it is inevitable that accidents occur,...same all over the country I suppose? No, I was only thinking about my own early days (1960's) with working dogs, and remembering locally, just how scarce on the ground, and how few in number, the proper running dog types actually were.. Truth is, I never knew anyone with a genuine Greyhound , let alone a Saluki! However, as the seasons moved on, we kinda drifted away from roustabout curs, and ended up with Deerhound and Sal

I at one time got the shit kicked out of me from a llama ,it decided to protect the flock of sheep he was in with,it was bad enough trying to keep jigsaw away from the hairy cnut, but the llama was well up for a scrap too,my shins were skint to fuk,and my foot badly bruised from it stamping on me,..how I got myself into these situations,I can't understand even to this day..

  6. Never knew his breeding unfortunately. The story behind him, from memory was this... The litter was bred by a fella in London, the fella was raided and banged up for something or other and the sire and dam and pups were taken to Battersea dogs home. Battersea had a policy not to re-home a.p.b.t's at the time and the sire and dam were destroyed. The pups were due the same fate I believe, but due to a contact at Battersea, a hippy dippy animal rescue shelter not far from me took on the litter and put them up for rehoming....this dog cost the princely sum of £25! Two of the litter mates were

  9. I still think this fight should've happened earlier, whoever and whatever the reasons I doubt it was the boxers themselves, as they gain the most from the biggest fights, Did we really need a trilogy of fights with Fury v Wilder? Somewhere amongst that an AJ fight should've been made.. Or even before, AJ held belts when Fury was coming back from his lay off..now he holds nothing.. But better late than never imo... Said it loads before but Fury in Wilder 2 and 3 changed his style and was more aggressive, better imo.. AJ since Ruiz 1 has changed his style for the worst,

  10. You are right about farm syndicates . My mate Tim isn’t doing his this year , and there are also a few around here that haven’t bothered . And even the bigger shoots were struggling to get birds . Most have put some birds to wood in July , and then had to put the rest in as and when they could get them . So they have days sold in early October , but they have birds on the ground which won’t be ready till late November. They won’t be wanting dogs in the beating line and the pickers up are going to be mopping up squeakers and wet youngsters. So you mustn’t beat yourself up . It’s a

  13. Thought I would up my small game load in my 30wcf today from 14.5gns of A2400 to 15gn. Glad I did. Shoots a little tighter. I shot three at concrete with a stone set in it smaller than a rabbits head at 50yds. First shot hit it and the next two landed on that splash. The previous load I felt was a touch erratic and it showed on similar targets as in more flyers. Next I went to a ploughed field in a valley and plinked to 400 yards. 400 was pushing it but 200 & 300 was straight forward enough. No rabbit wants to be giving me rude gestures put it that way!

  16. Some lovely little pics up here lads ? I’ve always thought half the battle the l apbt faced was the fact that some of those smaller types look like lively little Stafford’s. And people who have no business owning a dog like that Are taken in by that bully appearance . About 35 years ago , I knew a dog , what you could call a game type , not a pure , it was mix of about 3/4 apbt , the rest being wheaten and greyhound . It’s job was was to pull out things and end any sort of messing about . It did that job in a fashion that was quite the spectacle . And when his elderly owner was

Bang on.I can remember bringing a little 12 week old dog pup home who only topped out at 26lb grown.I had a couple of terriers here and a bulldog bitch who was 100%around the terriers and would work along side them and Any other lads dogs I was out with. She could also be left with other biches pups.I thought being a male he should grow up around my bitches fine.I carried him from my car through my back gate and dropped him down and he ran straight across the patio and grabbed my old terrier bich through the head and started shaking her.Fom that day on he couldnt be trusted with anything on 4 l

  31. Yep, these big houndy things were certainly more thick on the ground back then. Personally I prefer a dog 40lb max, anywhere between 30&40lb. A proper bred dog with a "sporting" temperament is more than enough of a handful at those weights I.m.o.. Yokel.

I dont think they paid a lot of attention to size back then mate....gameness came first and nothing else really mattered....besides which the dog is going against a dog its own size anyway but a 20" 45 lb dog is plenty big enough to keep active. Bird are you aware of some sort of Staffordshire Bull Terrier museum up the black country somewhere.....a few folk have told me about it i just wondered whether its worth a quick visit next time im up that way.

  44. I’m feeling a bit better about them now, I was talking to my mate earlier and he was on about the amount of farm syndicates that haven’t got anything this year and will just be doing a day or two around Christmas, at least we have some, I just need to accept that it’s just a farm shoot but in the woods and I can’t be there all the time and can only do what I’m doing and it will be what it will be, just need to make sure there’s a few to go over my guests, I’m not bothered about the members ?

  45. Of course, but that has to change ....300 quid, some food tokens and an Iphone isnt anywhere near as attractive as 20k per person to take back to a third world shithole where that sort of money go's a long way particularly for a family, who will likely end up with a nice little nest egg....we give 10 billion a year in foreign aid, that money used for voluntary repatriation would get half a million people off our books annually......not many people seem to realise but the Uk already has a Voluntary Returns Service i think its something like 2k plus return flight.....many countries have successfully
