We had it easy FFS. I and all my mate that managed to buy a house struggled like f**k worked at ground works day time and shooting at night. Foxes one night skinning the next and rabbit for food with veg from the garden and own eggs, swede and kale from the farms we shot on etc etc. Used to sea fish not so much for sport but for the pot along with a few borrowed spotted ones. No central heating a beaten up old van with wired up exhaust so I could go to work. Got my own logs so we had some heat, f***ing hell it was so easy, yeah right. Laying kerbs all by hand no fork lifts graft was graft. Int11 points

I think that lads story is bang on !…..and I think that is the story of millions in the U.K. ! They ain’t all making “wrong choices” !! See, we have this nasty little habit in the U.K. of finding a way to turn on anyone telling the truth or we try to lessen or belittle the truth they are saying……and it’s bollocks ! What we should be saying is “Yeah, he is f***ing right and it’s out of order and it’s about time it f***ing stopped !”……but we don’t, we turn on our own ! But what he is saying is a plain hard truth, you’re wasting you’re f***ing time in that gaff now…..like that l10 points

I've mentioned this before, we have blokes where I work who wont do a ounce of overtime and are constantly sick, others only want to work the contracted hours and some work the maximum over time they can, they probably all feel they "graft solid". The strange part is some who work bugger all seem to be doing alright finically and others who work every hour don't have a pot to piss in and never look like that will change. I think we are all different, spend differently and view wealth differently. Is the chap working all the hours in the world to pay off the HP on his new BMW more wealthy9 points

Going by some ships right now and just kinda looking at the size difference between the tow and tug boats and these tankers and ,and, y'all ever just stop and look at stuff and are just kinda in awe as a species we build this shit ? Like these massive steel ships sky scrapers, cathedrals are one of my favorites ,ect. Hell it's even more impressive the further back you go . The shit the Romans and Chinese did, the Russians ...idk maybe it's a lil childish to still think like that but, makes the world a lil less bleak7 points

I lived in one for around 2 years with my son who was just over a year old, only had to worry about feeding him and the horse really. My lurcher and ferrets pretty much fed themselves with add on's from pellet gun and snare, did odd jobs and sold a bit of pot and hand on heart they were the most stress free days of my life ..7 points

The question imho isn’t if they are a saviour, the question is “are they the handiest tool we have had for breaking the two party system in peoples mind” ? If the answer is Yes, then it don’t matter what they are for a minute…..folks are looking for a solution way, way past a more pressing immediate problem.7 points

I can remember coming in through the door on a Friday handing my wages over and my missus running down the shops to buy the nappies as we were living week to week. My parents really struggled to buy their house and they paid 8k for it, at times they couldn't afford the coal to heat the house and Dads wages were literally a few £ so its all relative really. We were the same couldn't even get a mortgage until almost in our 40's but again we eventually got there after struggling for years and things are now a little better financially. There seems to be this miss conception that older6 points

Rabbits do the same the eat there food at least twice.....its because unlike cows and other herbivores that have multiple stomachs...that can digest the and get all the stuff they need out of the plants.... And if that doesn't tell you all you need to know about a vegetarian diet I don't know what ....lol.....imaging....a gazillion years eating plants...and your body still can't digest it without eating it multiple times...5 points

If your earning 75k plus a year, and don't have a pot to piss in...then you need to take a look around you,f**k off any dead wood( Mrs spending like it's water etc) and pull your f***ing finger out like.... I know plenty of lads earning that and more...the one thing they all got in common is they got to have the latest shit, cars, clothes, phones,Mrs thinks she's a footballers wife lol.....and they all like a sniff, weekends and school nights....all self inflicted5 points

Busy old day today, started off with with rerouting the back side roof water through the shed to go into the front because it’s blocked under the floor and I can’t think of another way without cutting the floor in the stables, I just hope one will take all the water, it’s a big shed then second pour of concrete before taking what was left to my mates to do his chicken shed5 points

In the 90's we had one new area in Bristol renamed from "Bradley Stoke" to "Sadly Broke" as 90% of houses went into negative equity, I don't think they found it easy. I do agree mate its hard, my lad has no chance of getting on the market unless we give him the deposit, but and here's the big BUT, he don't want to as he prefers renting. As it stands him and his wife gets a huge chunk of their rent paid for by the social and that would stop if he bought and that would in turn mean he has to cut back on his mobiles, sky, Amazon, take aways etc and he's not prepared to do that. This was my first ever running dog Jess. Picked her up at 8 weeks old and I clueless about lurchers or hunting.. she has taught me a lot these past 8 years, I was 16 when I got her and just wanted to walk and hunt all the time . Safe to say she done as well as she could with little training. She is a collie x collie whippet greyhound and in her prime a bit of a machine but now all them stupidly long walks when she was too young are catching up with her and she’s abit stiff after a nights lamping but still puts a shift in. Lucky she is a durable cross I think we all probably started out like t4 points

Sounds like he's embraced Scandi-noir to the full ..... Twenty two years of work ,paying the bills and raising a family and "nothing to show for it " Doesn't raising a family count as something to show for it! Moaning about broken boilers and cars...... like even the appliances were out to get him in the UK. Someone reckoned the older generation had it better . Growing up , if we wanted to watch TV we went up the road to a neighbour. I think there were only two or three cars in the street and they belonged to other people. No one had central heating,we4 points

I've never bought the idea that foxes should be destroyed on sight. If they ain't hurting me then It's nice to see them. Lots of good pot filling lurchers are passed on because they don't kill foxes, Daft imo..4 points

What has made it hard for youngsters around here is the total lack of social housing and high private rents. The media has bulled my home town up to be one of the best places to live. So local families kid have had to find home else where. Its all rich people dressing poor and bloody whole nut, hessian bag, gleany greenies, lezzies and poofs alternative nutters. Nearly went off on one there lol. Cheers Arry4 points

Bread and cheese today,I love this place, used to store wine and salt from the 1700's.Mrs had homemade pork pie.It used to be a bit dodgy, handbag thieves and pickpockets as its always got tourists in and its dimly lit,the staff member told me a bag was stolen a month ago from a tourist who was due to fly home that night and had her passport in the bag, fagin is alive and well in London still.4 points

Going to the op , I think it's highly likely the majority of the UK population leave life financially no richer than they came into it. If you take and make opportunities and aren't impeded with caring for family members or children then you have every opportunity if you're allowed to travel and have the education to allow you to work in the field paying the big bucks. There are plenty who do well and are successful. Plenty are happy if they can just live a straight forward life make ends meet raise a family. I think if you work 22 years and you rent and have two cars couple of kids and work l3 points

As I know fully well, a few wrong life choices can be curtains for your wealth, I know the hard way. I have a decent payed job, but, with all the bills, mortgage, CSA, etc, and with the Mrs only working part-time, we are just ticking over, we can't really save a substantial amount of money. My kids won't go without and that's all that really matters. The older generation had it easier, no doubt about that. 25 year ago my parents bought a 4 bedroom new build for around 83-86k, what's that today, around 140-145k? You'll get a terrace or a run down semi for that these days.3 points

In a late night conversation lasting many hours, I managed to persuade Wilf that multiculturalism was a jolly good thing. That the Islamification of Europe would be a jolly good thing and that third world people had enriched british society immensely. He ended up crying and regretting the error of his ways. I believe he drove into Dublin straight away and brought home 6 asylum seekers to share his home. Unfortunately his Mrs phoned me and cursed me with a lot of rude words. Basically she said the house smelt of curry and garlic and that Wilf now ignored her and pandered to their every d3 points
