  1. Been leaving a lot of the self seeders ( thistles, buttercups etc) to grow on in the back garden along with the planted Hazel, field maple, copper and green beech, variety of honeysuckles, summer flowering jasmine, and Gertrude Jekyll rose, partly through lack of time, and to generate wildlife habitat, place smells like a perfume factory, makes a nice change from the scent of the stoners I'm surrounded by

  2. I was going to get to that bit!!! The church abandoned it and was hoping to sell it!!! It was bon the verge of being sold.....to....THE LOCAL MOSQUE!!!! Luckily it was stopped and a group of interested individuals have taken it over and are hoping to protect and renovate it. I guess that's the point of my post! How can we allow stuff like this go to ruin. Even with billions of pounds stuff like this couldn't and wouldn't be achieved or built today. Shows how far we have fallen.

  6. From a ruff old field and cow shed to this, finished today ( well apart from the rubber for the arena but my mate will go back and put that on when it arrives) I think between the 3 of us we’ve done a cracking job and hopefully when the owner is back at the weekend they are pleased with how it looks my work here is done ??

  7. I was recently given the opportunity to visit and look around st Edmunds church in Rochdale. I found it interesting so I'll add some photos in case anyone else does. I'll do it as a few different posts as i go along and get time tonight. St Edmund was Englands first patron Saint and apparently there is a group trying to re-establish him as such. As you enter the church st Edmund is shown on a carving above the door. He was martryd after being killed by arrows by the Vikings. It was commissioned by Albert royd a local industry magnate in 1873. It was built at massive cost of £2

  10. While I would happily hang the whole Tory contingent....to claim they damaged the social fabric of Britain (quite true, certainly didn't do anything to stop the decline) while being pro labour is madness. The social fabric of Britain is being damaged by mass immigration more than any other cause, and labour are voting and arguing against any attempts to control it. I've said it before.... nobody disagrees with your critic of conservatives.....but it's the position of being pro labour and pro more of what we hate the Tories for that allows us to see you as pathetic and rediculus. The cons

  13. Seen that top clip several months ago, dc, and to me, it probably still is the most impressive piece of wildlife footage I've ever seen. That drop once it catches hold, must be about 50 foot, and it never let's go, even after hitting the ground a few more times!! Incredible.

  16. Not one single nail in this roof! It's made from cedars of Lebanon. Imported from the holy land. Albert also imported saplings from Lebanon to his estate in Worcestershire to grow and be available for timber should repairs be needed. Unfortunately the trees have a presavation order on them so repairs have been done in other timber. I'm sure the trees could of been used and more saplings planted as Albert wished.

  17. Hmm…..it’s now breaking that Sir Bernard Jenkins, one of the Boris hating Tory MP’s on the Priveledges Committee that destroyed Boris’s political career for having a glass of wine and a piece of cake during lockdown is now being accused of attending a birthday party for his wife with other politicians and having wine and cake during lockdown…… That good old German saying “ schadenfreude” springs to mind ! Cheers.

  19. Anyone on here supporting a team down here? Donny Rovers fan myself and think we have a chance. Been busy in the transfer market so far and needed to be. Biggest acquisition is new manager. If there are some L2 fans then maybe meet up home and away? I take my old boy and little ones to footy like so it will be low key. Keeping my family happy is more important than appeasing some young reprobates on an Internet forum....so if you are like minded and have family with you, give me a shout. If your still young and wifeless then f**k off and watch it without meeting me........y

  25. Albert royd was a freemason and obsessed with symbolism. The church is full of it. This stain glass window shows Adam and Eve. It's full of hidden signs and symbols. But one of my favourite parts is the serpents face....it's actually the face of the local liberal MP ?

I know an old boy who I did my underground CPS with when I first started when he retired they gave him a deputys stick and a Davy lamp and his checks with his number he had had for 46 years he had worked at the pit since being 14 years old. I often think about him as he was one of life's characters you meet in your life to say he had worked down the pit all his life he lived another 23 years after retiring at 60 a lot wernt as lucky.

  46. All that stuff may have been working lines back in the states but I know most of the people that origionally bought that stuff over from the states and a fair few of the people that kept it after that and all 90% of them did was breed the arse out of it.So although some of it was worked in the states most of it here did nothing so to call it working lines isnt quite correct when you have to go back multiple generations to find dogs that saw any serious work.
