Having just got home from a funeral of old teacher, i was wondering if any of you have had good recollections from your past, don't want to know about the bad ones other wise we could be here for eternity . This old boy was something else, first off he could be as tough as they come, hard but fair, he gave up his lunch times to teach me how to cast a fly rod, i would take the ferret to school and spend time in the school wood nailing rabbits then be late back for his woodwork or tech drawing lesson, he would play fck not cause i was late but because i hadn't asked him to go with me.19 points

Watched it last night... few things..were exactly as I thought..a few young lads who obviously were not right in the head and have mental issues... second was they were showing locating equipment which men who work within the LAW actually need ...its an offence when doing LEGAL fox control with a terrier not to use one..third the bbc did not seek an interview with any law abiding terrier federations which would have totally condemned All INDIVIDUALS... and put the record STRAIGHT...these people the bbc put on display last night were not TERRIER MEN .. they were psychopaths with absolutely no11 points

i don't think genuine lads have any thing to worry about all the lads i know work there terriers within the law , and since badger digging has all but died out in the uk and judging by what i saw last night i'm not surprised the dogs where poor at the job, they where not up to the job of illegally digging badgers because nearly 50 years have passed since those bloodlines where around , careful reel your ego's in now lads we don't need anymore dumb ass quote from dumb ass wannabe's the likes of which we heard and saw last night but lets just put it in perspective 13 cases of badger10 points

There's too many wannabees and fame seekers around nowadays all wanting to make a name for themselves or get a mention in a book one day and they wonder why they get nicked, there was some kid on here not long ago challenging someone he never met to come and see his so called "hard dogs" work for f**k sake. Oh and I didn't see the reporter running over to see how the poor cub was the shithouse, and that c**t with the spade needs it smashing over his head.7 points

As shocking as it was, I think the most alarming things were the general disregard they had for their dogs. The way they were kept for a start, in terrierboxes in bathrooms , piled up in cages in a flat, all them dogs chained up to anything remotely resembling a kennel on that farm yard. WTF was all that about? And then the lad that was carrying the dog around by it's tail!! I've never seen anything like it in my life.6 points

It didn't portray terrier work in a good light makes the standard of terriers look very poor all it's done is help a few cowboys look what they are. I think as a whole it will make lads wise up and bring a bit of common sense back around no phones no cameras nothing ta see or talk about here.6 points
-
Not much to say.No representation of terrierwork as i know it but did reinforce one thing. TRUST NO ONE .5 points
-
It's done now they were caught the BBC got what they wanted just move on learn the lesson do your homework on strangers before an invite or just keep to a very closed circle. The genuine lads just have ta be that bit more careful as if it wasn't hard enough.5 points

I don’t understand why it shouldn’t be discussed, this is the terrier section on a hunting site and a load of fcukwits have done proper terrierwork and terriermen a massive disservice. Sometimes the silence is deafening.3 points

just wasted a hour of my life , this thread should now be deleted before the dimwits start trying to out brag each other3 points

I have several woodburners I,m in a smokeless zone yet I live just outside of avonmouth, my kids went to school in one of the 20 worst air quality schools in the country and most blokes round here die of the big C early the air is full of fly,s when the sun comes out ,I have 2 of those blue light fly zapper things in my kitchen all summer and fly screens on the door, several power stations and an Astra zenika chemical plant, that would leave a crater if it ever caught fire and I,m not allowed to burn wood, I respect your understanding of the sciences etc but I see it as no more than a governm3 points

You have to laugh at the BBC's take on authenticity. It was the same when they aired the programme on street kids with killer dogs. You could tell this "street kid" was a token black actor. The company is a joke. Anyone also remember their documentary on dog fighting? They had an undercover Geordie who fooled the Irish lads and Dunkel from Finland the little rat bag! God knows who he was but sure to god it can't have been that hard to smell the rat!2 points

Alarm bells would ring when they don't take their own dogs. Unbelievable how naive and gullible some people can be just for the chance of a pat on the back. I think it's fair to say that will be the final nail in the coffin for terrierwork.2 points
-
Whatever has happened on this programme, good people in our community don't need airing out. We shouldn't really be here slating them2 points

A memorial ride involving motorbike and scooter riders from two separate points paid tribute to Lee today. One group started in Wrotham, Kent and the other left from Blackheath, south east London. They held the guard of honour in Woolwich. All donations from the ride will go to the Armed Forces Bikers charity.2 points

Tbh jerry I find a man who claims to be at working dogs all his life comes out with the stuff you just typed to be either a pretender or a man who lets on to keeps a lurcher. I take it the 71 is the year you were born..as its also been stated and sadly I really do believe terrier work as we know it will not exist in 15 years from now if im honest...there are men on this forum good men at it over 30 some 50 years.. keeping excellent strains of terriers both white and black Lakeland and the odd border..keeping the old lines going..lines that when in the RIGHT yards thrive and are exact examples2 points

Please lads lets not make judgement before anyone has seen the show. The BBC is an anti fieldsports channel and are well capable of forging evidence and editing material to cast terriermen and other sportsmen in a bad light. So watch the show before casting assumptions. Sadly one way or the other terrierwork will be cast in a bad light. Unfortunately we don't have the channel here so fingers crossed for you boys who all abide by the law.2 points
