You only get one mum and dad thing is some of them are useless as everyone knows and deserve nothing but in reality if your mum or dad raised you in caring home looked after you taught you right from wrong kept you safe and made you who you are to today they deserve the help and care later on in there life I don't know your circumstances but maybe more trips back home or maybe your just looking that reason to come home7 points

I had a great expat life, then decided to retire at 50, ( it was actually 51 before all loose ends were tied up). We could have gone to live anywhere in the world but chose to come “home”, because my parents were still alive. We had a house here and because of our circumstances, we could still travel anywhere and our children were in Saudi and Australia, so visiting them wouldn’t be a problem. My parents are both gone now, and our two kids, I’m settled here now, but still travel a bit, my missus travels extensively. Did we make the right decision to come “home” ? I think so4 points

A guy walks into a bar and tells the bartender, “If I show you a wild trick, will you give me a free drink?” The bartender shrugs, “Sure, why not?” The guy reaches into his pocket and pulls out… a tiny rat . Then out of the other pocket, he pulls a teeny-tiny piano . The rat stretches, cracks his knuckles, and starts playing the blues like a rodent Ray Charles. Stunned, the bartender pours him a free drink . After finishing it, the guy says, “Now, if I show you an even better trick, do I drink free all night?” “Buddy, if you can top that, you’re drinking on me till closing,” the bartend4 points

They say you have succeeded as a parent when your kids are living an independent life. I'm probably the same age or thereabouts as your mother. The very last thing I would want would be for my son to give up his life and career to look after me. That would be a nightmare scenario to me. I've had nine tenths of my life, I wouldn't want to end it by ruining his. In a sense the mum you knew has gone. What remains is a shell. Somebody who looks like your mum but may not even recognise you. Her essence has gone. Parents look after children, not the other way round. That's a natural law.3 points

Knew my ma didn't want that went spent her last week with her [BANNED TEXT] she died [BANNED TEXT] on end of life care and she even said that. said that pal but only you can make them choices everyone different2 points

Lots of decent replies here mate…..but to me, here is the big question: Who are you doing it for and what’s the payoff for all concerned ? Would you as a parent want your daughter back in Blackpool tending to you and sacrificing something great when you already have all you need ?2 points
