Yesterday I took the dogs to another local farm, the same one I had mentioned in the last report. On that visit across the road to another farm, I'd noticed that there was some rabbit sign, most was older sign, and then today I spotted one fresh scratching. I had to check all the heaps to make sure the bunny wasn't living in one, the dogs showed no interest, yet the hounds were picking up scent that took them out into the paddock, then down the hill to an area where the farmer had dug a pit and heaped up the valuable yellow gravel. There were several large holes where the digger had extractio6 points

In France, badger hunting is being challenged in court. Lots of legal fights, some won, some lost. Badger hunters demonstrated in Limoges (the French love demonstrations).6 points

Or as you alluded to potentially the individuals culture means he dont give a f**k but I suspect the MSM will report "mental health issues". Not sure how GM reacted when he heard the news but 30yrs ago Bristol would have been in shock, kids wouldnt have been allowed out and it would have been the talk of the city, yesterday it was hardly mentioned amongst the people I came in contact with. A sorry state of the world we've become!5 points

Some cracking Bedlington whippet greyhound pups bred by a lad in Rotherham who works his dogs and he comes from a well known family of rabbiting men from Rotherham. I have only seen pictures of the pups on social media and don't know what he his asking for them.5 points

Erudite and accurate observations from a hunter who has actually done the job Back in the late 1970's/1980's we bred a few larger type lurchers,...mostly from Deerhound x Greyhound hybrids, and further enhanced the mix with the genes of our local Sheepdogs . We fancied hitting the massive herds of Fallow and Sika that inhabited much of Hampshire and Dorset.... In hindsight, the inclusion of Bull blood or Desert dog would have been an improvement, alas,. .none of these superlative canines were readily available at that time. Correspondingly, we just used what we had.5 points

I was more into motor bikes and leather jackets at first. My older brother was the mod, a “face”, “ top mod” . He bought a very nice Lambretta and his first ride out was to Scotland, and he fell off, he came back in an ambulance and the scooter came back on a train. He never rode it again and gave it to me . I had absolutely no hesitation in changing allegiance and becoming a mod. I fully embraced the lifestyle; the scooters, the clothes , the music….I was living the teenage dream . But time waits for no man, and I’ve probably had more incarnation than David Bowie ! M4 points

A couple of years ago , a mate and myself were out looking for foxes( on Halloween), at a wildlife centre / petting zoo , type place. This place had a woodland walk , along a valley floor . We'd walked about half a mile , stopping every few yards to have a look with the thermal . As we approached a blind bend in the path , the most blood curdling screaming and howling , blasted into my ear from the blackness , from about three feet away . I almost shat my feckin undercrackers !. When I finally got the torch out of my pocket , I saw the speaker thing strapped to a tree , that had a sen4 points

Places like Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Chechnya, the Caucasus, have been and probably will be again, under the hegemony of Russia. Tibet, Mongolia, North Korea are under the hegemony of China Europe and the West are under the hegemony of the US. Its nothing new, it’s all part of what Kipling called “The Great Game”, a global game of chess, going on for hundreds of years. Offence, defence, bluff and counter bluff, proxy wars and world wars. The borders may change, the leaders may change, but the game won’t change . Cheers.4 points

You make a good point. I would rent or get a camper van to experience the real day to day existence of living in such a place for a few months before buying. However much I love those remote places it would probably be step too far. But it is nice to know that it would be possible for me if I chose to do so. Rural France is looking ever more appealing. Beautiful countryside with a temperate climate in a location where a stroll into the village for a decent meal and bottle of wine is always an option or a few hour drive to the nearest city for something a bit livelier or cultural. Tennis is a bit like equestrian dressage and international rowing. Minority sports forced on us. More darts, amateur boxing, rugby and snooker needed... commentated on by ex pros who actually know what they are talking about would be good. Dominoes with a camera looking down on the players dominoes? Pigeon racing? Whippet racing ? These sports could take off if people were exposed to them.3 points

I can chuckle about it now , but it was one of the scariest moments of my life. I could hear my pulse racing in my ears . The aliens thing was pretty scary as well . I shoot a paddock that had a small hill , riddled with rabbit holes . I used to love laying on top of the hill on a warm evening , and shooting rabbits as they came out to feed. I'd take a shot , then lay my head down and have a sleep , until more rabbits popped out. I'd been laying out one warm summer Saturday night. It was about two am , and I'd got a few rabbits to find , so I thought I'd pick them up , and call3 points

I can remember having a conversation with a keeper who was only about 15 yards away. I told him not to be a hero and try and lay hands on me. I informed him I would do a deal, I wouldn't come back to this area. He said absolutely nothing. After a stand off and much peering through the gloom, I realised the keeper was a tree.3 points

One of the scary moments for me was mooching about in a big wood for a few pheasants and it wasn't the best of nights weather wise with not much wind and a could ear a farm dog barking not all that far away then after a few minutes it stopped after dropping a few birds with the 410 I stepped onto a wide path to see a black shadow coming towards me growling I shot off the path and put my back to a large oak tree to see a doberman that must have been the farmer's come close but it just had a sniff around and feked off thankfully I also feked off though a lot faster than the doberman might I ad.3 points

I don't think there's any one particular type that is guaranteed to be successful working the high ground. Every dog is different. Were the laws reverted back to before 2004 & hunting deer with dog's legal one cross that I would personally be intrigued to try would be a Saluki/Grey x Deerhound/Grey or at least with a mixture of that blood. I'm not sure how one would do but it's a type I'd of loved to have worked on the mountains. It's not just running style that's needed as you also need a dog with plenty of fire in its belly for what resides up there inevitably isn't chicken fodder. I've3 points

I hope I'm not pissing on anyone's parade, but these out of the way windswept rural locations look great on paper or fantastic to sample when you are on holiday. But these homes and remote islands were abandoned for genuine reasons: 9 months of winter, no work, no local school, no entertainment, intermittent electricity, hundreds of miles to a hospital, loneliness, cold. The same is true when you go,somewhere hot. Sunshine seems great every day but I have friends and acquaintances who bought abroad but quickly returned to the UK because they missed the greenery, the seasons, even the rai3 points

After reading Ron Thompson book the game ranger wars and the pungwes that the terrorists inflicted on other Africans makes you realise how savage they could be and it seemed common practice to chop their victims to peices.2 points

Never go lamping with the memory of a horror film in your mind. Two o'clock in the morning and a branch brushing against your face or a vixen's scream can makes you feel like the prey and not the predator.Lol2 points

Remember the exorcist being very controversial when I was in secondary school and lads at school blagging there way into the odeon cinema to watch it despite the god botherers outside most cinemas telling people not to go in to watch it. Don't think any film since has got the religious ones backs up since to setup protests outside cinemas.2 points

Must take a certain strong stomached individual to cut someone to pieces then stuff the body parts into a suitcase or it's something that they are used to coming from a backward tribe in Africa That hacking someone to death is like us butchering a rabbit.2 points

Bubba in his dungarees made me chuckle, squeal piggy squeal lol. Obviously crossbows can be deadly as can a lot of things in the wrong hands. If they are going to do anything then maybe licencing is the best policy. But look at how many illegal guns are out on the streets, converted replicas, converted blank firers. Them zip guns or pipe guns or them plungers in a tube, I remember a lad having one of them 30 years ago when digging. A lot of household implements can be used as a murder weapon.2 points

Personally,...I would always seek out a genuine Running Dog Vet.... They are out there,...but you might have to travel in order to find the right man... .. Such experienced and knowledgeable folk really do know the score with Foot and Toe injuries,.... The main thing with Collateral Ligament Damage is to give it TIME.....2 points
