  1. my old uncle got a chocolate lab for a pet a few years back, lovely nature, responsive, calm. brilliant pet, but also loves a good walk and run around (they live up near the malverns and uncle is retired, so they get out for a good ramble most days) talking of different colours, saw a woman with one of those silver labs a little while ago, thouhght it was a poor specimen of a weimeraner to begin with! you won't believe what she paid for it.............£1200!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.silverandcharcoalkennels.com/
  2. no loss him being gone, if half the allegations are true
  3. go back 20 years or so, and there were a lot of these about, and a lot were winning regularly too from what i remember. nowadays, it seems most of the top dogs are more like 3/4 saluki 1/4 grey. i've never really been into the match scene, but it would seem that 20 years ago best of three was common, whereas now its fives? does that sound about right ? perhaps this would explain the reason for the change in breeding?
  4. some good films mentioned on here, but i REALLY recommend THE HILL, brilliant film. probably sean connery's finest hour, and ian bannen is also superb. watch this film!!!!
  5. fecking disgrace, look at any other industry/business and if you were asked to write a report and you delivered it YEARS late, heads would roll!! not in westminster, they are fecking untouchable.
  6. sound slike you need a yard dog loose round the place socks
  7. 1 keep calm, and breathe 2 have some notes to hand, just in case you freeze 3 power point slides or other illustrations are great for the audience, but even more importantly they prompt you 4 RSVP: rhythm, speed, volume, pitch 5 make eye contact with different audience members for 20-30 seconds at a time, and try to engage with every member at least once, if you can 6 do some research: don't get caught out when it gets to the "any questions" bit 7 practice 8 remember, it will all be over soon! seriously, although it may seem nerve wracking, public speaking is easy if you know your s
  8. the truth is that in these sort of pressure situatuions we never know exactly how we will react; some people freeze, some panic, some run away and only a few are capable of making a rational course of action. i like to think that i would intervene to protect anybody who was getting murdered, but whether or not i would have the presence of mind to react sensibly is something i will never know.
  9. i play a bit of country guitar, different finger picking styles. not much good, but enjoy it. started learning the banjo a few years ago, but then the kids came along and the poor instrument hasnt been out of its box for years
  10. the interesting thing is that the power of the media only affects folk who have no other source of information. i haVe lost track of the number of people i have come across over the years who had a hostile attitude to hunting, and yet with a reasoned, calm conversation many change their view point. not all will support hunting but most will at least realise there are two sides to every story. i've taken lots of ignorant people for a morning out with the ferrets and brought them round to my point of view, and even had two who ended up getting into ferreting themselves. yes there will always be
  11. bruised or damaged muscle releases the cell contents into the blood, and the kidneys have to filter this out. it can take some time for this to sort itself out, and obviously the kidneys will function better if there is plenty of water avaialable to dilute the blood. was the urine very dark reddish/brownish colour? google "rhabdomyolysis", it can be caused by over exercise or by trauma
  12. https://archive.org/details/peckomaut00chalrich have a look through here, patrick chalmers did some great hunting poems. it would be nice to write something yourself, but some of us just aren't blessed with words in that way
  13. been my dream since i was a kid to do something like that. dont suppose it will ever happen, but who knows! thanks for sharing that
  14. had a pure about 25 years ago, just couldnt get on with her although she was a decent hunter. i accept it was probably a lot down to me, as i hadnt had anything to do with salukis before and didnt get that they are a bit specialised but she did have an odd suspicious nervy temperament. remember chatting to dave bird on a couple of occasions when he had tor of dartmoor, never saw him work though. was he any good? what was his offspring like as workers?

my oldest brother got seriously injured by chelsea supporters about 1985 i think, after a cup game. think a chelsea youth player got slashed and there was a whole heap of trouble after that game. and you know how people remember such things.........i'm kind of hoping millwall dont get past bradford cos there might be some fun and games otherwise
  16. had a 2003 navara loved it, go anywhere, cracking motor.................................till the engine blew up! got a ranger at the minute which is okay, but if i had some cash i would buy an isuzu
  17. duvets from the charity shop only cost a couple of quid, just throw them away when they get too dirty. dogs can really dig down into them and keep snug

now i'm no fan of football or footballers in general, but gerrard does seem a decent enough bloke, i've not seen him linked to any of these sex scandals so common with footballers etc. but i am amazed at the amount of press and media coverage given to this story, it was the lead on bbc news the other day. ffs, its just a sportsman moving teams, not even retiring or anything. hardly important in the great scheme of things
  20. thats the saddest thing, how truly awful.

if you dont know of him, have a little read about jimmy wilde
  25. I know, it might be a bit optimistic of me planning too far ahead, but I always end up doing it anyway. I haven't mentioned that I already have a pure dog lined up for her second/final litter, but I would like them to be more staggered age-wise as I find 1 pointer enough for my needs. They are good dogs the pures, but there are areas where you could improve upon them for big game work. Bulldog blood should give a longer ranged hunting dog, as its been done a hell of a lot abroad, and when catching a wounded stag or a boar they will hold on that bit firmer and with no questions. That would pr
