Alright, he is another for you lot. It was told me by an old, and recently departed dear friend (RIP old mate) So ken was out one night lamping foxes on the estate, and come the ealy hours of the morning he makes his way to the stable block for a cup of tea as he is freezing and knackered. Nobody else is out and about on the estate at night. Now to get to the tea room you go through an external door, throug a long narrow room with about twenty metal feed bins along one side, and then through another door to the tearoom. Both doors have yale locks, and only three of us have keys for both.

My grandmother was born in 1892 and left school at 12. She still had beautiful copper plate style handwriting, and could spell well enough and do long multiplication and other basic math. Far better than most of the young people who come to work for me. Something amiss with the system methinks, that we have gone actually quite a long way backwards

First, take the dog alone, NOT with other dogs. Terriers are particularly bad for grabbing prey off other dogs Second, do not under any circumstances get cross with the dog, you want it to be comfortable sharing your space even though the natural thing for a predator is to be jealous over its prey Third, if the dog brings rabbits back to hand but won't let go, you are almost there.dont try to take the bunny, just hold it gently in one hand and stroke and praise the dog, keep doing this until the dog lets go. Don't get to a tug of war, just stay calm. As soon as the dog lets go, throw t

Very interesting subject. First let me say I have no belief in e supernatural, ghosts etc are a load of old bollokcs in my opinion. BUT........ I have seen some strange things, very strange, in quiet dark places, I believe it is some sort of ancestral memory when we are alone in the woods at night And like people have already said, people very close to me have told me things which I find it very hard to explain My mum and dad have both said that when we were kids and all out at school they would hear kids running about playing in the empty rooms upstairs. Dad would some

Try sneezing torchey . Got a load of mine bust by a horse some years ago, we had to tie it up and pull it over and one of the ropes hadn't been tied off properly. Feck, I can think about it now and still hurt!!

Definitely wait for her first season, for the reasons mentioned above, but I would also suggest you wait until the bitch is at leastayear old or even more for a large dog, to make sure the growth plates are properly closed. I have had bitches come into heat at six months, long before they were finished growing. Secondly, despite what some folks might tell you , spaying won't affect drive at all. Some bitches will put on weight more easily, but this is easily managed by diet and exercise which we should all be doing with working dogs any way. Don't go down the drug route if it can be av

The three quarter bred collies were touted as the worlds greatest all rounder, but in fact a lot were really not great at anything. A first cross collie grey will do everything a three quarter will except lack a bit of speed, and there are better crosses if you want to run hares anyway. The three quarter bred saluki were really popular, at least round here, about twenty Or so years ago for hares bitit seems that more and more saluki blood has been introduced and I haven't seen a genuine three quarter for years now.

Ay injury, lameness? Had a bitch some years ago which ran into a gate post, hit the side of her neck. Now there is a nerve which runs down the side of the neck and serves the foreleg, think its called the radial nerve but could be wrong, and the bitch damaged this nerve. So she could walk fine, canter or gallop fine in a straight line, but couldn't use the leg properly at a trot or to turn. This is because the nerve damage stopped her from moving the leg backwards although it could swing forwards under its own momentum. Because it couldn't move properly, the shoulder muscle completely wast

I have wAtched enough people fade away in pain, I find it baffling that the law has never. Even amended to allow assisted suicide. I had this talk with my mother after her mothe passed from cancer, she said if I ever went that way will you help me to go? I said yes, and if I need to one day then I shall, whatever the consequences

There is still a bit of David James stuff knocking about. But getting less each year and the last litter I came across was out crossed. Look at the pedigrees of James dogs, and look at plummets stuff, and look at hancocks 30 odd years ago and there are lots of dogs which appear on all them three families. The only dog I ever saw that was a proper olde thyme lurcher was a boder beardie x grey bred by Hancock. This dog was literally let out of the cottage of an evening and would come back two minutes or two hours later, and most times would bring something with it, rabbit hare pheasant

Yep, that's the same reply I got from him. Thought it was a bit odd to be honest, and he should have made is intentions clear but I can only assume that he is on our side from That answer. As for everyone who has said "I don't think the repeal will work, can't see it happening" etc I will sayit doesn't really matter what ou think, you must contact our mp anyway, do whatever you can to make a difference And to those who say they won't vote in case it makes things worse, give your head a shake. How can it get worse? We are banned from doing what we want to do with our dogs.

I'm not sure I agree. I don't think that laws are decided in regard to how well they can be enforced by the police , rather the other way round! But if that was in fact the case then it is plain that the police currently have enough officers to pursue illegal coursers so why is that going to change? Likewise, they can currently provide what they consider to be sufficient men to watch every hunt and once again, why should that change? Just get writing to your mp, do what you can. You say you want to work all your dogs, well do your bit pal, don't just say it will never happen try your best

I got a reonse from my Tory mp saying he is in favor of repeal, but if your mp is anti or fence sitting then all the more reason to put more pressure on, keep at em make them aware that they will lose your support and also get anybody up know to do the same. We might not change everybody's mind but even if we get just one or two mps to abstain instead of voting against us could make a huge difference

beast replied to Blackbriar's topic in General Talk
my late uncle was in the royal navy during ww2 and was part of the evacuation fleet. he never spoke about it much, but some of the things he said about it would make you cry, absolutely heartbreaking .
