  1. Was there much variation within the litters Phil? I ask as the two in the pic look quite different physically and in other photos i've seen of the cross they do seem to vary quite a lot.
  2. I just looked at that ad. Parents in last two photos but that doesn't look like any wolf I've ever seen.(Wonder what a "timberland wolf" is) Maybe they use them to make shoes. https://www.donedeal.ie/dogs-for-sale/gs-hybred-pups/18382742
  3. It's supposed to make the teeth bigger too.
  4. They should make huge long ones for people with salukis.
  5. That looks well muscled up but mine looks better after the course of roids don't you think?? Chuck him out the window of a four wheel drive and he'll flatten anything.
  6. Up to you when you start your pup. Huge tracts of Cornwall sounds good too. He must drive a good vehicle to get round it all. Maybe a landy or something like that?
  7. The pictures were the making of this thread adding atmosphere and an "old timesy" feel. Moneygrabbing dicks at photobucket eh? I'll buy the book if it ever comes out but I doubt if it will.
  8. I get the distinct impression that the late winter cold snaps have delayed the breeding season a bit. Anyone else think so? I normally finish hunting in February sometime but I carried on a bit longer this year.
  9. I used to read EandM every week, not to buy a pup but just to see what people were offering and what they were claiming.
  10. A useful looking puppy. Is he beddy/collie /whip again then?
  11. As above, walks on beach, early mornings, and biking with frequent dips in streams and so on to cool off.
  12. 2 quid for 6lb of tripe sounds a lot better alright
  13. Six quid for 2 pounds of tripe sounds a bit dear to me. You should look for a slaughterhouse that'll sell you whole unwashed tripes (15 to 25 pound weight usually?) or get to know someone who works at a slaughterhouse. I buy waste from butchers who slaughter their own animals and from a chicken plant I used to work for. Lamb necks and ribs free, chicken necks 5 euro for 10 kilo box, beef hearts fiver each, pig hearts a euro, minced trims 3 euro a kilo etc. etc. etc.
  14. Try up the big market mate. If you don't find any rabbits at least you'll get a toe to toe to keep you busy.
  15. Good to get a bit of a sensible discussion going now the seasons about played out........
  16. I'd guess lampers hurt themselves quite often. I know I've had a few over the years, mainly from trying to get field to field without showing any light. 2 or 3 years ago I decided to climb down a small cliff in the dark, only 3 metres or so. I put the first foot down onto a clump of growth and as soon as I put weight on it it gave way and left me hanging upside down by the other knee. Luckily one of my sons was with me but the knee took a good while to be sound again. Onwards and upwards.
  17. I have to ask........ who's the guy in the bottom picture?
  18. Where was their solicitor in all this and why did they admit anything to do with poaching when their dogs seemingly hadn't left the car. Motoring offences were the only crime here. The cop's opinion of what they were about to do means nothing if they hadn't done it. Is he a mind reader or what???
  19. That's why they cost so much. Someone else has had to put time in and put up with all the hassle. Adult lurchers that are cheap are probably not great either and lurchers are more a hobby for most people while sheepdogs are to earn a living with.
  20. Well done Phil, he looks a nice dog. Like hjckcff I often wonder what'll become of mine when I'm gone.
