  3. Silly season's started already. Six months of it to go now.
  4. Looks a belter that, and from good lines for work too .
  5. Several..... https://www.google.ie/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&rlz=1C1TEUA_enIE477IE477&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=several+meaning
  6. Cheers, I like deer/bull/grey on paper but they usually seem to throw too much to the bull. It's nice to see a more balanced one.
  7. I like the look of her v. much Mud. Have you any other pics of her?
  8. Here's a coursing vid from the same site. https://youtu.be/rkFABesR8OM
  9. Fine pair of bitches. Spring has an old fashioned "gate netting" look to her. Bet she'd soon learn to head 'em that way.
  10. That video's absolutely astonishing. I've seen over a hundred hares gathered in a small area to feed on an acre of kale when everything else was covered in snow but it pales into insignificance compared to that video. (I had to click on the top link to watch it. The embedded screen didn't work).
  11. That can happen for sure . Record the conversation and make a complaint politely asking to be informed of the outcome.
  12. Ahh..... times gone by. Ever since I was a kid talking to grown ups I've been told that built up land used to be open fields where they used to go bird nesting/hunting etc. Now I'm older I find I'm doing it myself and the worst of it's when I'm back visiting my brother in Blyth or reading one of Bill Doherty's books. (They're all set where I grew up and once he describes a place it springs back into my mind.) Great times. Can't live in the past though, onwards and upwards and I hope to be struggling under the weight of what I've caught in a few hours from now
  13. Did you consider using your wheaton/bull/grey over the collie line at all?
  14. Think he means it's the bitch he owns himself, it's mother being the 1st cross. Fine looking hounds. OOPS!!!! posted at the same time!
  15. Seen plenty on bog ground but I see more living in forestry blocks than anywhere else here in west cork.
  16. The owner says they've done some lure coursing, and mentioned something about qualifying for Ireland If you look at lure coursing on you tube (as I'm sure you have Drifter) it's all seriously disheartening. I'm not at all into bag chasing myself though I have nothing against it either BUT......... the hounds in any deerhound lure coursing just don't seem really ON if you know what I mean. I know from owning a deer/grey cross that they can get seriously fired up but not about chasing a bag. I'm probably wasting my time here as you're only taking the piss anyway, aren't you now??
  17. Dunno what they charge for D/Gs but I'd guess it's less. I've never had one of theirs so couldn't comment on their abilities or price but might be worth a look if you could see some running? My own D/G is far from perfect but a lot of fun to run and now and again does stuff to make your belly drop. Makes it all worth while to me. Know what you mean about the price of pures though. I'd consider getting a straw from USA if I decide to breed from mine.
  18. If your game to try it I'd say keep him close in so you can keep a good eye on him. Most dogs signal the moment when they hit that particular scent. If he's near you and you call as soon as you see him light up you've a chance of stopping him. The more you succeed (if at all ) the better he should get but it's not easy and not foolproof so keep him on the lead with the wife and keep him on in dodgy places. Garmin GPS has been suggested and that's a good idea too. It's a common enough problem......."FENTON......FENTON" When I say close I mean like 20 to 30 feet and you could try a long line
  19. He's not looking for a deerhound, he's looking for a deerhound lurcher. Pures are almost always silly money.
  20. Try an email to seavaldhounds@aol.co.uk or you could PM seavaldhounds on here but I don't know if they still come on. There're breeders here in Ireland too.
  21. Google photobucket and get a photobucket account. Put some photos on it. When you want to load one to this forum just click on it then click on the bit to the right where it says URL HTTP and all that stuff. It'll turn yellow and say "copied". Go back to this forum and when you do your post, right click where you want the pic to be and select "paste". That'll do it. Sounds complicated but it's simple once you've done it once.
  22. He's shaping up well. I wonder what height he'll make finally.
