That's looking good Bunnys

Your 2 year old looks good With luck he's just a late maturer and by the age of 4 he'll be worth his weight. Let's hope so anyway Those slinking, sneaking, jacking, collie crosses do have SOME good points anyway .

Looks like a bladder . She has tight looking feet for a bullcross

I do a bit of that too. You should buy a wetsuit and speargun and some carbon fibre fins. You'd be surprised how much you can find on the offshore reefs. Sometimes when you're angling from a kayak and nothing's happening you start wondering if there's anything down there or are you wasting your time. If you go down then you know for sure F uck that it would scare the shite out of me ,being from the Midlands the sea ain't for me Who dares wins!

There are red less than 5 minutes from mine but there all park deer if your in Leicestershire and you have red deer near you I garuntee there park deer, there are many deer near me roe fallow red and muntys and a 40 minute drive lands you bang in the middle of cwd country but I'm talking about the scenery, the running ground, the cover and the overall wildlife, again I'm not saying there no wildlife but the hunting ground isn't a patch in the midlands compared to Devonshire I use to work for the atherstone hunt based in Warwickshire and when I was there we held more hunting ground than any oth

Line Bred Lurchers And How Many Generations Your In
Maximus Ferret replied to poxon's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
between 5 and 10 grand I'd say so I think if some travels up and down the country seeking the best blood to put back to his line of dogs makes them worth the money he charges It's only worth what someone's willing to pay I dont think that money's unfair for those that are happy to pay it to some £400 is a good Saturday night lol I've spoke to this Jeff a few times what I didn't like was when he told me he had a waiting list for people after his dogs and that he jumps people in front that he thinks deserves them haha I said if he's got a waiting list why advertise them in cmw he soon dodged -
When I read the name of the thread I felt sure they'd be bull crosses

Plenty of meat in one go and really nice to eat too when cooked right. I still love a jugged hare too, cooked in a rich gravy with a bit of red wine or guinness in it and served with mash and greens. I hear that a lot of places where I had happy times running hares in Lincolnshire they have become almost extinct since the ban. What a sad reflection on modern life.

I always thought Jeff was suspiciously hairy! -
Again I it's only my opinion but I'd say they'd be hard pressed just to catch up with a decent one and if they did they'd have a bit of a surprise after only hunting foxes.

No way of knowing without trying. Dan Edwards rejects dogs if they're no good for coyote but I doubt if many dogs bred from working coyote dogs would jack on fox for instance.
-
And just to make it clear, I agree with this.
-
Maybe not but ive ran dogs 35 years on everything in the UK and know a jacker when I see one mate, Watch a video of Dan Edwards dogs running Coyote So have I and I've watched Dan Edwards videos and read his posts. I seem to remember him saying that a dog that can kill singlehanded isn't common or something like that anyway. Sorry if I've put wrong words in your mouth Dan. Anyways I wouldn't consider myself qualified to judge on the strength of watching vids. That's all I'm saying.

A lot of people criticising the dogs there. I wonder how many of those criticising have any experience of running coyote?
-
Tiny photo but from what I can see it's a nonped whippet.

I use blitz variable almost all the time since it came out but I borrow a striker if the wind's very strong. I also have a tiny little 8 inch long LED torch. I only use that for walking the dogs but it is strong enough to lamp with. Just hard to spot squatters with it.
-
How much difference did you think there was between the striker and the blitz for ease of spotting?

Best Pic Of One Of Your Lurcher
Maximus Ferret replied to the big chief's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I think there might be saluki in that -
As people have said, the right type of coat is important but the right type of skin even more so. A good wiry outer coat, not too long and with a bit of undercoat is good for winter. A tough thick skin and strong feet are more important though.

I don't agree that chasing with dogs makes meat tougher and I've eaten a fair bit of both coursed and shot meat in my time. To my mind it's all in the way you cook it and the age and condition of the animal. Steak from the backstraps should be only lightly browned on the outside whereas roasted or stewed cuts need long slow cooking to be tender.

the guy who placed the add at the start of the thread got his bearded collies from norma plummer Who (I think) was the wife of BP and took over the Raggengyll prefix.

I take mine out before jabs are finished, carrying them to the car and going some where in countryside where other dogs are unlikely to go. I realize there is some risk here ( from foxes, straying farm dogs etc.) but prefer to get going with bonding and recall ASAP. Recall is easy and natural at that age as the pup is still afraid of being left behind. I do agree about letting them be a pup. No pressure at that age but they can still learn through play.

looks fit Hawkins. Have him like that in September and you'll clean up.
