  1. Lured her away from Max Hardcore if I'm not mistaken.
  2. Some collie/greys specially for Shaddy (taken here in Ireland)
  3. Are they straight deer/grey or is there anything else in 'em?
  4. You must have a big sofa. (Welcome back)
  5. That's me half cross bitch. As already said they're good at what they do..... less good at rabbits over fast ground, though they will get you a bag....; good over the rough...... some like a tussle......some do what it say's on the tin. They make shit of the furniture if you let them, and you'll do your back carrying the catch.
  6. I haven't had one but I'd guess you'll get a mixed bag of replies. It's not easy to pick a good deer/grey as a pup because they vary so much in how much drive and stick they have, whatever lines they're bred from. I've got one from Irish lines and I'm happy enough with her but I know of one's from the exact same breeding that vary from fairly indifferent to mad crazy workers. Bet you don't get a more honest reply than that . My advice, get one mixed with a bit of something a bit sassy for more reliable results. Some will disagree but can they show you a good tough hound that'll give it a
  7. I'd advise a fast type of deer/grey or saluki/grey with a touch of bull. If you chase fallow with a lurcher them dog'll be kicked hard now and again and will need to be mentally up for it, hence the touch of bull. Agreeing with Trenchfoot, I believe a lot of lines of stag over there are already bred like this and if I were you I'de be looking for one from those lines. A lot also depends on the terrain you'll hunt and if it's very forested you might be better off with a german wirehaired pointer and a rifle.
  8. I'm in agreement with you about that but that was the hunting of carted deer as it used to happen in Ireland and the UK too. They hunted for the hunt and the deer weren't killed. Illegal in both countries now anyway, so it's immaterial. Most of the coursing in Ireland is of captive hares by muzzled hounds, to my mind equally pointless but each to their own.
  9. Those weren't antis, they were the hunt staff putting it back in the cart to go home.
  10. No, I haven't met Shane but did speak to him on the phone when he was selling the dog and I've seen quite a few of your photos of him. Some you sent me when he was selling him and some that you posted on an American coyote hound site. I think there were some in archived posts on here when he bred him to a half cross he owned too if I remember right.
  11. That looked a nicely made dog too. Compact and not too tall.
  12. any pics of yours penda? Be interesting to see the difference. x2

  15. Cick here http://www.davidhancockondogs.com/archives/archive_729_789/745.html
  16. Yeah, do the book. You've got a cracking bunch of photos that you had up on the Minshaw thread to give it atmosphere and the feel of days now gone. I'll buy a copy and i'd bet plenty of others would.
  17. Best of luck in all you do Andy.
  18. My collie crosses have all been mad for it. The others I've had will swim but don't seem to take the same joy from it.
  19. He looks a nice pup. I could be wrong but I'd say he'll be bigger than 28 inches if he's 22 already.
  20. personally i dont think hes on about the 2 young lads. hats of to those 2 young lads they are getting out there and doing it. Think it's Jim and Lofti's post he means. There's no point arguing between two forums though. Both are different and both can be good at times in their own way. I very rarely post working posts on either because a) I mostly find rabbiting posts a bit boring unless well written with a bit of a story and b because I don't specially want anyone knowing what I've been doing and recognizing where.
