  1. Hi Wolfdog,..welcome to The Hunting Life...
  2. Some folks are competitive,...and some just ain't....
  3. Really well schooled and carefully handled....but, regardless of this,...Cap sure is one class act...
  4. Given your stipulated criteria,.that sure ain't gonna be an easy order to fill... Good luck with your search,..I wish you well..
  5. Collie lurchers,..the specimens that favour the herding dog,..both mentaly and physicaly,..will rarely suit the man who wants to go for game, in quantity on a regular basis....There are reasons for this,..one is obviously the physical limitations that a real colliefied lurcher has,..and the other is cerabal and akin to its primitive mindset.... Men who need something else,.should not venture into the oftimes murky waters and frustrations of the pastoral hybrids,...and perhaps instead,..choose a far more physicaly gifted and less complicated kind of critter,...and maybe live a happier and more
  6. Possibly the first thing a beginner with lurchers ,.(requesting advice as to what type of lurcher to get ) should do,....is consider the type of work he will require the dog to undertake.... It kinda simplifies the matter,...narrows down the choice and hopefully produces a result...
  7. Feel for ya Bobza,.... I have found,..over the last few years,..that my mindset has changed drastically with regards to my dogs... I used to be extremely hard-hearted,..if a lurcher did not pull its weight,.we parted company,..pretty damn quick... But nowadays,....
  8. Whatever,..it sure looks a lethal fecker..
  9. Any good for the putanges? Mine are rusting a bit which does hamper firing. I thought it may reduce the need for frequent wire brushing? Hi,...I have it on good authority,..that a protective coating such as Dakota,..will work just fine on the Putanges
  10. Caught all manner of quarry with new traps, fresh out of the factory,..greasy, smelly, oily bits of shiny metal.. However,...my gut instinct and old style beliefs has always urged me to clean off any excess oil residues, etc...just in case...
  11. Been watching a fair few over the last couple of months,..realy impressed by their many attributes.... On several ocassions recently, I have found myself wishing, that I could go back a few years,..maybe have my time again,..possibly do things a wee bit different,...then,..good sence prevails,..I say goodbye to the bull bloods,...click in the wee Collie Cur,..and sensibly,..act me fecking age...
  12. Fair play... I'm no fighting man,...never have been,...but,. do know good business when I see it.... A fighters life is a short one,.ya gotta make hay,..while the sun shines..... Good luck,.. to rich young fellah...
  13. Safest thing on here,..or indeed,..anywhere in the real world,.is to only comment on what you know..It never pays to try and be, something or someone, that you're not,..it always ends in tears
  14. Cracking good series..fabulous settings,..reet moody and realy evocative of those 'dark satanic mills'... I spent a fair bit of time in the Birmingham area,...and yes,..the accents do blow hot n cold,..but so what.. The main character has genuine charisma,...really watchable...
  15. Nice,..interesting, erudite post there Morton
  16. Not sure,...do folk still want, such one dimensional, bush busting, rabbiting dogs....
  17. Bred this hybrid several years ago,....it seems to be (on the surface) the absolute ideal type for the ferreting enthusiast... However,..the straight cross, twixt a pure whippet and a Border Collie, did not produce the end product, that I desired... I have found that the Greyhound (as opposed to a pure whippet) is a far better inclusion in this equation,...and that is why lads often choose to use a 'Hard Blood' whippet as one half of the hybridisation... As a starting point, the pure whippet, does not seem to have the bone structure or size, to balance out, the basic physique of the her
  18. couldn't agree more gaz, seeing is believing. That is an awful old way to go through life,...I am just the opposite,...I always believe what a fellow hunting man tells me....I know when a man is telling me the truth or not.....it stands out a fecking mile...
  19. Definitely a dropper,....fake as feck...
  20. If you have a dog walking with you, when checking Vermin traps/Drop Boxes, etc,..they soon learn to give you the nod when there is a capture,..I've even had them stand over dead moles in traps,...this is something that is easy for them,...most dogs will soon twig on,....its no big deal...
  21. C'mon now,...we are all out to make a living,...whether we are Masters or just old Mouldy's,... Pricing is a personal thing,...it has got to be,....and it is no other fecker's business other than your's and the Client's.. In our world, the customer is King,...even more so, if there are a few hundred of the feckers. The real money in the Rural pest control game, is in repeat performances... Most large gardens, private estates, etc,..especially if they are located in 'mole infested areas'...will provide regular work .. The art of survival,..is all about selling yourself to the cu
  22. For on the road motoring,.I find the Astra Vans to be extremely economical and cost effective
