Counterfeit Fenn Vs A Real Fenn - Action Video
Phil Lloyd replied to Tomdhu's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Yes,..I have seen many Rocky Horror Shows with weak traps that folk laughingly labeled, Humane Spring Traps,....and that is why I was determined to do something to hopefully address the problem... A hunting man can get accidental foul catches with most styles of trap,...but, I am proud that I tried to limit such things... -
Reverce Breed Collie Greyhounds
Phil Lloyd replied to lurcher man george's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Seen some real useful 3/4 Greyhound x Collies....the best of them have the power and physicality of the running dog,.whilst retaining more than enough pastoral dog sagacity.... For me,..(nowadays) a working dog needs to be tractable.... I only work a few hedgerows, so great speed and phenomenal pace,..will not really help As for the curiously named, Reverse Three Quarter breds Well, these were the types that I was brought up with,...walked out with plenty,...my village was full of them....Main reason was,...no fecker had a Greyhound,...we just used an old running dog, owned by -

that's the whole thing, will someone come along that actually new him and worked dogs with him, he got away with his bullshit until proper dog men like David harcombe came along and started putting pen to paper, his terriers were bred for there appearance, it was just luck that most terriers back in the day were game, he new that a breed of terrier with his name on and a few books of bullshit would be a cash cow, but is there anyone who is alive today that can honestly say they new him and actually done some proper work with him, bearing in mind when his original books came out everything was l

Personally, I prefer a net made from 4z Nylon...but the quality of contemporary mesh is extremely variable.. The long net in the image were constructed of 6z Sheet Netting.... All the best, Phil.

As experienced rabbiters know,.the best way to control rabbits it to utilise every method that is available to you.... They are a really useful tool.....

Good to see lads charging a realistic price for their services.... Mole catching is not some long lost art,..of course not, but, it does require a particular knack and a sympathetic feel for the job...so,...trappers , whilst understanding the market and not demanding a fee that is simply not practical,.. , should always strive to price themselves sensibly... After all,.we are professionals... I have been extremely fortunate,...(lucky perhaps),...and I am now, fully booked,.. until the end of February.. I cannot take on any more trapping jobs,..and more work is coming in every day....

No, but I don't like mentioning injurys. He's fast but not reckless. He has turned into a nice sort of thing... Mind you, his old Mom was also a bit fleet

My Australian Cattle Dog lurchers were good old things,.but nearly all of them were Alpha types, both dogs and bitches... I believe that I am a fair trainer of working dogs,...but no way could I change their primitive urge to attack strange dogs, that were not 'in the gang'. Luckily,..they accepted other hunting type breeds, no problem and would fit in immediately with most lurchers and terriers. But, when we were out having a mouch,...I had to tell them to get in behind if we encountered a gobby canine ....my dogs had a fair old sprinkling of the wild dog Dingo flowing through their veins a

Capture In A Wooden Barrel Mole Trap
Phil Lloyd replied to earth-thrower's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Several traps do not possess the required power and strike force, to humanely dispatch, the intended target species .... -
You couldn't catch enough rabbits with dogs to do that Phil, don't be silly! Same as back in the day,..don't think I would be bothering with rabbits ...

I think all hunting men want keen and fully committed hunting partners, both human,.and canine... I've no time for men, or jukels, that are not 100% 'into' the game,... By the same token,...I much prefer to return home with my dog in one piece,.. (even with a few less captures),..rather than walk in the door laden down with bags of saleable gear,...only to say to my Wife,..."We have had a bit of bad luck,.our lurcher ain't coming home ".... Been there, done that,.many times.... So,.in answer to the original poster,..yes, I want to see genuine passion from my dogs,..and ho
