I think you are right Neal,...mind you,..to call a man a dirty Dingo in the Outback regions, is a fair old insult... The wild dog ain't a family favorite in rural areas,...in fact, on a sheep or cattle ranch,.. he is usually a target... Therefore,..a lot of Stock dog breeders would deny having the blood of this stock killing critter in the ancestry of their herding dogs. I believe, there is a definite Dingo influence, in both Kelpie and ACD's....in fact, I've bred hybrid Cattle dogs that looked (and certainly acted) like Dingos

You are correct Marvel..

Worked a fair few Beddies,..cracking, sharp, keen rabbiting jukels...
-
Yeah,...and if this style of juke ever decides to go rogue, and start taking livestock,...they are purpose-bred to be pretty darn good at that business
-
Folk often act on impulse,...they buy/breed dawgs that are destined to be totally unsuitable, for the tasks they are required to fulfill. Same with a woman,...ya got to be sure,... with a potential life partner....

If you say so....

Home bred,...from back in the 1980s.....

That is measured only on what it can do and NOT what it is, or how its bred.... Poignant words Bosun. Basically, I believe that the phrase, Traditional Lurcher, is a bit of an antiquated nomenclature. Most enthusiasts are no longer,.. traditional,....the Quartz Halogen Spotlight changed that. Correspondingly,..the work of the roustabout working dog, has also changed alongside it. Like many hunting men of my generation, I started out with mongrelised 'bits and pieces', however, when I became keen on the Hare Coursing scene and required a more athletic and physical cr

Wasps Can Get You Manslaughter!!
Phil Lloyd replied to Gravy's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Whilst I feel it is a, responsable mode of behaviour to let folk ,(who are in the imediate vicinity of a treated nest),...know that it would be wise to keep out of the way, just for a short while,..it is simply not feasable to walk up and down the road, knocking on doors and causing mayhem and panic, to all and sundry.... However,...with regard to many of our applications,.for Modern Pesters,..it is a legal minefield out there,...we do have to be careful -
The veteran hunting men are becoming rarer and rarer,... It makes ya think.....

yes it's no all about catching love to watch them work use there nose Yeah,.I like to see the dog nose down,..really searching, for that one elusive rabbit... Sometimes , in a Foresty plantation containing hundreds of valuable young trees,..there IS only one or two rabbits causing damage, ,..but those feckers have got to go... A good hunting jukel will soon find where they are hiding out,.and then,.its wham bam,....'Take Away's' all round..££££££££££

Fair play there fellah,... I only keep a few..pet/companion dogs,...we just want a quiet walk out,.. in the beautiful English countryside....
-
I feel we all should abide by the laws of our land,...but, if I am out giving my pet dawgs a walk in the country,..and a Fox, Hare or Deer rises in front of them,..what can any man do about it,..other than apologize...Facts are,..these things happen,...indeed, they have happened to me on several occasions,...it is unfortunate I know,... but that's life....

Caught Black Rats many years ago...mostly in the Free Port, Dockland areas of North London.....I do believe they are uncommon nowadays... Love seeing images of the Collies working,...right up my street...

I'm all for moving with the times,..accepting any info and research that enhances and improves the lot of the working dog,...but,.my mind also harks back to the 1980s,.when a fair few lads were out of work,...and also,..out at night,..every fecking night,...and their jukels served them well,...but rarely, if ever,.. had the benefit of many supplements.... Makes ya wonder....
