Blog Comparisons Between Training Kelpie Vs Collie Pups
Phil Lloyd replied to reddog70's topic in General Talk
The guy who did the Blog is an experienced trainer of Border Collies,... However, I feel his attitude towards the herders, is a lot like my own late Father's ... Folk don't always accept change,..in fact, a lot of guys, (lurchermen included), find it hard to take in anything new,.. Better the Devil ya know, kinda thing,... In some cases, even when appearing to give a fresh project, a fair do,.their minds are already made up,.. the exercise is doomed to failure,.. from the start. -
Flint is a fecker,...some fields are worse than others, so if you chase the old hares,..you got to try and be a bit selective Even when rabbiting along the hedgerow warrens with cur dogs, it can still get painful,..but, that's the craic,..what can ye do...

Just figured who your mate is Eddie B... We sure are indebted to him, for making this priceless Data available. Seen a fair bit of it before, but I never tire of looking at details of what might best be termed, the 'Heyday of British Trapping'... The Grey Squirrel has always been a major problem for the Forestry Commission guys and a pioneer of the methods of trapping them was Fred Courtier. I have spent time with Fred and he was a mine of information,..he was affectionately known at one time, as Mr. Squirell Been at it, real heavy on the wasp nests this season,..and compared to

Never Thought The Day Would Come
Phil Lloyd replied to iworkwhippets's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Well, if the Operatives are using Gas,...it won't be Cymag,..and on a large warren,..the Phostoxin/Talunex tabs are an extremely expensive way of going about things. I would also question their effectiveness when used in an extensive burrow system... Let's hope you see a few holes, dug back out,...a rabbit deserves so much better than dying, choking to death, deep underground... -

I just read it on the page where it said annually. I would assume that if you don't renew it one year, you revert back to "member" instead of "donator". So £5 for the year you want to sell stuff and nish when you don't. Right, many thanks for that most valuable ..info. I'm off to advertise now,.. in the For Sale section...
-
I do hope you are right,...we live a very frugal life, barely existing on my meager pension... we cannot afford to be in debt to IanB....
-
Many thanks for that....I have no problem in Donating/Paying £5.00 to sell an item on this unique Hunting Man's Website...but, that would be an end to my selling career, so are you seriously telling me that I will have to pay £5.00, every following year,.. for the rest of my fecking life....? Surely that can't be, right? Please confirm..
-
If you become a Donator and pay the £5.00 via Paypal,...is this a renewable agreement, payable annually, for all eternity?
-
Love 'em,...Smashing dogs, if you have a use for them... Saw a 'line bred'' example the other day,...what a fabulous beast, so powerful, so primitive, so real....
-
As the son of a Welsh Hill farmer, this is a subject that I am passionate about... If a dog is ragging woolies,..he will get shot,..that is the way of things... If a dog is biting Chavies,....he will also get shot,... In the Wild West,..if a man stole a horse,..he was hanged... Should a verminous low-life cur, who takes another man's dog be hung,...well, of course not.... Hanging would be too good for that fecker....
-
Fair play to you fellah,...my sincere apologies,..you have not advocated killing a man's canine partner,..and that is a good thing... However, you still cannot seem to differentiate, twixt the taking of a poxy game bird or a silly fecking wild deer, to the theft of a man's much-loved pal... Like a rabid anti-hunting vegan, there is not much point in trying to convince you of the error of your ways,...so,..we will just have to agree to differ...
-
Listen up bonny lad,...I can understand your anger at losing a few pheasants,...I have been on both sides of the fence, so I do get where you are coming from However,..this is not the site on which to talk silly bollocks, about killing a man's dog... Poaching can get a fellow involved in a few fisticuffs, even end in him doing some time, but, if you are captured, after deliberately killing a man's jukel,.it will be emotional

No fecking comparison fellah...

Seen plenty of foxes 'in action' after rabbits, when I've been setting traps in the burrows... When they strike a rabbit, they are incredibly fast,..usually the rabbit panics and just gets snapped up, real quick... It's amazing to watch... However,..on a place with a lot of rabbits, I don't think foxes make much of a dent in the population. I am always reminded of the old Poacher's saying,..." A Stoat kills a lot he doesn't eat and a Fox eats a lot, he doesn't kill"...
-
Like most folk, I've never seen a fox take a healthy lamb,..but a small terrier could certainly kill one, so there is no reason that a fox couldn't...

Trying out a Sealand Eton Smock this season,..time ( and inclement weather ) will surely tell...
-
Most of the Yanks that I have met have been 100% gentlemen,..polite, respectful and what I would call,.. 'old school' types... No problem with them,..showed hospitality to several who have come over to the UK,..but, by feck,.can they eat....
