  1. no legal requirement to have separate cabinets or to remove the bolts , some just like to do it as best practice. Just keep your ammo separate and securely locked away.
  2. I set them , then check after 2 days , then 4 days , then weekly until jobs done.usually in gardens and small-ish jobs the first 3 trips does it. To be honest it all depends on how busy I am , but you may as well check them , get the job done and move onto the next place.
  3. Never bothered about the odd one , sometimes bring them home though , which doesn't go down too well To keep the peace I give the house a spray of cimetrol now and again , just for good measure.
  4. Bargain hope its still for sale , the green hammerite sells it for me.
  5. You probably need to spend £600 plus a bottle , another £250 .not a lot if you say it quick .
  6. at the end of the day if I have any lifted traps that I have not reset any where else , I just give them a rinse with the hose pipe.
  7. yes mate talpex work for me , usually keep them to use if a duffus has been filled with soil, take the duffus out , put a talpex in and it very rarely fails.
  8. Very handy to have in the bag , only really use them though when I come across 3 tunnels, duffus or talpex cover 2 , trapline in the 3rd.
  9. I would appreciate that link too, cheers.
  10. don't really make a living from it , more like get by, have to rely on another job at the moment , although I am self employed. I too am building up the pest control things , but have waited until the mortgage is almost gone and children are now grown up and in careers of their own. most of my income has come from mole catching , not shooting , you will be very lucky indeed to get a living from shooting alone. this and many other forums are flooded with people desperate for shooting permission, and they all will do it for free.
  11. What about Phostoxin, could you use this? I know it may not be the complete answer , but can be a way of controlling an infestation.
  12. mole hills I leace for the customer to flatten , moles I take away apart from farms , where I let nature take its course.
  13. Hardly ever loose one apart from 2 legged vermin, who just do not understand anything about the countryside, I do mark all my traps with a hazel stick about 3' long and painted white at the top , the only time I do not use this method is in public areas where I cover the trap with a fake mole hill and then tuck a piece of baller twine in it so I remember which mole hill is mine and not the moles I have just ordered another 20 duffus and 10 more talpex , this will take the pressure off a bit , I like to get to customers as soon as I can after they contact me especially new ones , repeat custo
  14. As everyone else has said basically a sound moderator is classed as a firearm although some are not even proofed , such as the sirocco sm11.
  15. found some gloves in the local builders merchant , reflex thermals , they are a brickies glove really , but are fit for purpose and cost all of £3.
  16. I have just under 300 ,including duffus and talpex traps , but am getting busier all the time . I usually only buy 20 or so at a time , but was just wondering about buying a larger number ,,,,,,,,,,,but then again I always just abought have enough with my 300, when jobs finish .
  17. god I hate non payers , got one at the moment , paid most of the invoice , but not all , can't get an answer from them as to why they still owe me some . will not answer the phone , mobile, email or even me knocking on the door . I can only guess it's because i'm only the mole catcher!!!!!
  18. all very interesting , but 155 replies , my eyes hurt.
  19. same here only bolted 3 in nearly two hours yesterday , Friday 2 and dug one out fron a stop end , oh well at least the farmers see their numbers down.
  20. just had a jill done £79, all went well so i'm a happy chappy.
  21. this all sounds interesting . I must admit I use the duffus traps and always cover them with a board about 1" thick and the dug out turf as well , never suffer with the frost then.
  22. Welcome mate , lovely part of the country , Derbyshire , visit there a lot , your a lucky man .
  23. just shot one today , if anyone else is interested.
  24. give them the run , they'll use it if they want to , but with the cold weather they are more likely just to huddle together in the sleeping compartment for the majority of the time anyway.
  25. Wow , really can't believe that , have payed for my course and start it in a months time , wish someone would give me a start like that . Just figured its something I should do , although I've made a good living off the moles , I am getting asked more and more to control other dear little pests .
