  1. Thanks , where do I buy one ? , with scope mounting kit , pressure switch etc. Thanks..
  2. Thanks Richie, yes they are great characters , I've had some great laughs with them , watching them bounce about chortling to themselves. Every hunting man should have at least a spell using them , they really are great, but a huge loss when they pass.
  3. Hi don't know if I posted this in the right place , but I need a light to fit on the scope of my CZ452 for shooting bunnies . have looks on the web and am now confused.com. There just seems to be so many makes, models etc .
  4. they are just getting used to new things , human babies nibble your fingers too!!!
  5. give it time mate , just scared , try putting some cod liver oil on your finger if you dare , I've found ferrets love it and they will lick your fingers rather than bite. Good luck.
  6. Mate , my thoughts are with you , I lost one yesterday and i'm gutted , couldn't even work today , silly maybe but he was part of the family.
  7. Bad news , to cut a long story/day short he had a tumour in his throat and I had to have him put to sleep . He was a great character always first to the front of the run when I approached, a very willing worker and just great to have around. .
  8. Have checked in his mouth nothing visible , I am fearing the worse I must say , but also trying to be optimistic . I have tried to look on the net , most sites mention hypoglycaemia with dire outcomes . hopefully I can bring him round , but if the vet says he is suffering then,,,,i shall miss another loyal hunting buddy.. will let you all know for future reference one way or the other.
  9. keep going , Norfolk is such a rural area most of the farmers have had the same owld boy mouching about on their land for years. try asking at farm shops as well . you will get some eventually , I grew up here so got my permissions through beating , if nothing else that will soon be here and another avenue to try.
  10. I have been keeping ferrets for over 30 years but have never seen this. One of my hobs starting very slightly foaming at the mouth last night. tonight he is coughing , foaming at the mouth , not constantly, staring blankly into space , slow movement and has lost condition in the last 24 hrs . I have tried to feed him but he has no interest at all , I have managed to force a small amount of malt paste into his mouth and also syringed a very small dose of metacalm and some water down him , but I am very concerned . Vets first thing tomorrow , but sometimes with exotic!!! ferrets they are as

    Moles

I catch a lot of moles and have noticed before nothing really eats them up , I have had hawks and falcons they both ate moles but only after sometime and realising nothing else was coming . I have tried them with the ferrets as well but they just run off with the mole and hide it away rather than eating it . its always worth a try as its better than the flies eating them.

    Any Help?

Try the British Falconers' club , they helped me get started by finding a mentor , near-ish to me , he was 84 miles away but to get started I was more than glad of the help and advice.
  14. I did bird clearance on landfill sites for a while if everything else failed ,( Scaring them off, inc the use of falcons), 32grms of no6 drops them nicely.
  15. many thanks for all your advice , I am definitely going to give it a go , I have heard to many people say , " I wish I had of done,,,,,,,", I know it is not all going to be great , but I would like to try something that I believe I can enjoy , even part of , I have had jobs in the past were I even dreaded going to bed the night before as it meant I was going to work when I woke up, now that is bad. many Thanks once again , the advice has been great and made me think seriously about it .
  16. What I am going to need is practical experience though .
  17. After all , I have nothing to loose apart from a few hard earned pennies , (pounds, ) , by doing a BPCA level 2 course and the online one I believe can work for me as I can fit it in around my other work at present , I know theory does not make me a pest controller , but like any change in career ,or life, you must start somewhere.
  18. Take a look at the mole directory sites like GBM, APMC and of course mole-control.co.uk. I reckon there are quite a few who cover your area, perhaps you just aren't aware of them yet? Why check out the local competition.......... Go one better than them. Its too easy to sit back and say that there are too many Pesties in an area i won't bother. Market yourself correctly and the business will grow....Dont worry about who else is around you. Establishing that there is a market for your business is the first step in any business plan If the area is already saturated wit
  19. One other , yes just one for miles around that advertises , usually people phone one of the nationals in , because they do not know who to get , this has me really thinking though and I have asked several people , ( potential customers dare I say ) , the main thing they are looking to have controlled is ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, moles. Maybe , to start?? , I could concentrate on mole control alone, .
  20. I am already self-employed so understand the pitfalls , but I am not affected by some numpty in Westminster with nothing better to do , so perhaps it is a case of put up with what i'm doing and enjoy my fieldsprts for what they are a hobbie, not a potential income.
  21. I was sure I would never make a fortune from it , but can easily downsize what I am doing to work the two careers alongside each other , good job I haven't booked a course yet , really confused.com now.
  22. Wow matt , that's made me think, I knew it would not be easy , nothing is to get started, i'm self -employed at the moment and it took me years to get where I am now , ( turning work down ),but this has been in the back of my mind for 3 or 4 years , I know wild life management is a very small part of it , hence the reason I have thought it over for so long , but you've stopped me in my tracks and made me sit up and listen , really is it all bad???
  23. Good advice , who did you do the course with? , didn't know the BPCA , ran a course in this part of the country , whoever it was with that would be closer for me .
  24. personally I always use gamebore clear pigeon 32gram number 6 shot , knocks down most things , wouldn't usually use the for foxes , but one came trotting towards me last evening and kept coming , held my nerve and shot it in the head stone dead at just under 40 yrds , definitely keep a couple of bigger rounds on you for such an instance , but in this case it happened in seconds.
  25. got mine from rifle mags , for CZ452 .22 , now got 2 x 5 shot , one in metal , 1 x 10 shot.
