  1. You get them like that sometimes , drives me mad , can't understand why it happens but it does and then suddenly you catch the dear little thing.
  2. the problems with lofts generally are access and can be damp , due to temperature changes , but sounds like you've got those things covered , happy hunting now.
  3. Thanks for all you replies , definitely need to get one.
  4. the other side of the country from you North Norfolk.
  5. Firstly , sorry if this is in the wrong section , was unsure where to post it. I have been increasingly thinking about getting a website built , never had one before . Is it worth the cost , in terms of increased work coming in ? Where do you get one built? One of my customers does this for a living , but has no knowledge of pest control at all . After speaking to her it sounds like I would have to completely supply all the information , text etc for her to build the site. Is this the norm or is there a recommended person out there who does this sort of thing?
  6. CZ452 and Winchester subs = happy days.
  7. How's he doing ? , it's heart breaking to loose one , even after 30 plus years of working them , I still hate it...
  8. Have to agree , it really seams that way , the only way to get a decent price is to pester one of their reps, then you can see the mark-up...
  9. Yes you can make a living I started off with just mole catching and slowly more varied pest enquiries came in then I did a RSPH level 2 in pest management and a city and guilds NPTC in safe use of aluminium phosphide. I have been lucky in that I had another job I could cut down on as the pest control work increased. It may take 2 or 3 years for this to happen if you stick at it work 7 days a week when its there late nights and then nothing the next week . I have no contract / business work , but a big customer base who are always passing my name on . I find this better as I don't li
  10. wasp nests slowly trickling in , but am still getting mole jobs,,2 new ones today.
  11. Must admit I agree with treating the nest and/or area with Ficam and then leaving well alone , nest and all . Have been to one loft this year with two old nests still insitu , one from last year and one from the year before . I do not remove a nest unless the customers specifically asks me to and then I go back at least a week after treatment and charge extra. Whatever works for you , crack on.
  12. Welcome , you will i'm sure find loads of helpful advice .
  13. Cheers Shropshire Mole, nowadays I believe more than ever you need 100% cover guaranteed. Then it's one less thing to worry about as you earn a penny,
  14. used the Xl8 today for the first time , very easy to use , easy to control . Great piece of kit.
  15. Thanks to everyone who replied, I looked through most of the companies policies and found Bennett and bradshaw the most comprehensive. They literally cover every form of pest control activity, including all pest forms of shooting , ( not domestic/for fun!), business only. Spoke to Andrew Bennett today and have the policy and complete peace of mind.( happy days).
  16. I bet most of us have shot one and then watched in disbelief as it disappears.
  17. Thanks for all you advice will get on the case tomorrow .
  18. Looking for a good recommendation for pest control public liability insurance. looked back through the forum, but can't find anything upto date.
  19. So the answer to your question is , yes they will . Buzzards are lazy oppourtunists , so will try for an easy meal whenever possible , much the same as any other creature. Make life as hard as you can for them , a net over the chicken run is perhaps your only sure fire way of stopping them . Good luck with whatever you try..
  20. Yes the law has changed , Ramps code of practice is just one of the many places you can find out about this.
  21. thanks Shropshire mole contacted chemclear and registered with them , just what I was after. They will take away all my waste including the phostoxin flasks , happy days , what a weight of my mind. Very helpful on the phone and took the time to explain everthing to me. One more point ,,, someone on this great forum has helped me out again.
  22. personally I think there will still be plenty of work about, but more to go around as less of us re-do the c&g. Cannot look at the Killgerm scheme as it seams there pdf is corrupted I just cant read it!! But if its £200 for all your waste , it doesn't sound too bad ??
