  1. Thats what i was hoping mate - he`s a kid full stop ! Nothing regimental i promise you.
  2. Shoot them, hang and cool them, bag in a plastic bag, home, 10 sec`s either side with a bloody hot blow torch or straight in the freezer - end of ! "scratch, scratch"
  3. Because your mates shop stocks more PCPs....right? Coincidence? I actually think most core airgunners have both, and would not be without their springer and use them as a serious hunting weapon. I don't recognise the view of some around here of only using a springer for plinking....I think they are projecting a little too much of what works for them onto advice for others.....balanced advice always works Hi Dr B,all, My friend simply stocks more pcp rifles than spring rifles because of demand and he has a living to make. Does it matter if Billy would not be with
  4. One of my mates is a gunsmith with his own shop and has long ago told me that 85% of his air gun sales are pcp . I would state that i would not drop pcp`s for a springer but i am considering which springer as back up only. Each to their own i guess but 85% are in agreement in my mates shop.
  5. Hi all, I have posted in the past over my GSP and now he is at the stage of sitting 9/10 to the stop whistle, retrieves, etc ,etc when on a long lead. I am unable to satisfy his wanting to excersise by street walking him on a short lead so i take him to the fields on a long lead. There is a very strong urge by him wanting to hunt and i try my best to keep away from game. Again - in my garden he will train well off the lead (if exercised first helps). Out in the fields off lead he will run a long way out and about until he is tired and then come a lot closer in range. When
  6. 11-6 ft/lbs using .177 AA fields, with 5p sized groups out to 40 yds at the indoor range with ease. My rifle is two years old and never misses a beat (touch wood). The .22 cal` HW KS averages 11.4 ft/lbs using AA fields and just as accurate but my gut feeling is that my KT is a touch more powerful as it is used much more. atb
  7. Got a nice suprise this evening out walking my GSP. There were well grown young rabbits about along the 500 yd embankment of grassland, shrubs, thickets, brambles etc, etc. I`ve left the rabbits well alone for three years or so as their numbers were very, very low and now we have small numbers back.I initially saw 8 rabbits at 5-07 pm out grazing on the grassland (no damage being caused whatsoever). I will watch their numbers and stick to the "age old rule" - only shoot a rabbit when there is the letter R in the month if you want to manage and "maintain their number fo
  8. Watch out for the dreaded "mixy" then
  9. Hi mate, ditto to rodp. You`ll never regret owning a HW 100, nor do you need any spring rifle shooting before hand. atb
  10. I use two HW 100`s in .22 and .177, both calibers are AA fields diablo - both strike very hard indeed. I can honestly say either caliber more than does the job on any vermin. atb.
  11. I love to go out on a still day and practice my rifle and scope combinations and as Mr Pitterway does, sticky tab the lens cover with my mill dot ranges. When i`m out using .177 cal to 50 yds the most holdover is just 1 mill dot.I use the Mamba Lite. MTC. When i`m out with the .22 cal to 50 yds the trajectory of .22 sees much more mill dot use .Hawke Sport HD. I do take a rangefinder with me when using the .22 and to a degree the .177, out to 50 yds because any range guessing is eradicated and shot placement is always smack on the money.
  12. People were `umming and r-ing wether an air rifle was suitable to take a headshot on Canada Geese just a few days back. I think Coypu Hunter shooting the HW 97 in .177 cal has answered those doubts. Shooting mate atb
  13. Hi Rez, all. When out walking, mooching about i tend to take my HW 100 ks in 22 caliber. I mostly hide shoot for best results and shooting of sticks/ bipod i find the heavier the rifle the better. atb
  14. Hi Glu, BSA Ultra regged is in budget and a seriously good pcp. You mention you are a target man with some room for hunting, - 177 cal` it is then. If you can save up more, HW 100`s by a country mile. Keep the springer mate, you will,(as said), need her one day. atb.
  15. Let us all know how you get on with her Mac. Same rifle , same cal` is high on that list of mine so it will be very interesting to hear your views. atb
  16. Same here, i like to shoot around 7 x 0r 8x but i do use the higher magnification to try and see my shot when checking for zero.
  17. Cant say that i have taken a look at other sights than this one. What i can say is that this forum has many, very knowledgeable , air gun shooters with no daft cliques, with a warm welcome to newbies, keep it up guys. atb.
  18. Shooting Rodn . Cant believe you missed two ! atb.
  19. That makes two of us, love squirrel bashing with the air rifle, its just not the same with a shotgun. Totally agree Charlie and the other side of this coin is that i have never ever had to shoot twice with an air rifle but i have had to on the odd occasion with a shotgun. atb
  20. Might be getting older Craig but the old ways often work atb
  21. Well a great debate lads and i do hear and feel the passion of the springer shooters ( i`ve shot springers for 45 years). Billy shoots with a springer, but Johnny gets more game with his pcp has been said. "Does it matter" ? - Results is what we all crave for in my book. I know the echo of HW 100 is not liked by some but i tell you this,- when you mix 45 years of "field craft" with a HW 100 (or similar) the combination has proven to be lethal for small game and vermin. Sorry to say that there is no looking back for me - pcp all the way but (res
  22. My permissions are very low in rabbits, so i leave them as any damage they might cause is very small indeed. I would much rather see one or two than none at all. Pigeons, corvids, rats are plentiful and are controlled 24/7 that pretty much leaves a steady population but also leaves a good population of game birds as a result. atb
