Hi VM, yes mate the HW 100 in any form or calibre is the number one rifle in my opinion but a very, very close second is the BSA Ultra SE. I find the 100`s the "icing on the cake" after all the field craft is done. atb

Tried my Hawke range finder on this picture and i "beg to differ" ! You shot that rabbit at 9.47 inches

Yep some large vermin there, check out the size of them against the size of my kt . The Magpie is 3/4 the length of the rifle head to tail end. Took me a few outings to finally get those two ! Lost some young song and game birds to these,- not any more .

Lads take a look at the shot placement from this rifle through spindle branches at 35 yards. This was in last summers natural hide shooting. atb

"Slow Down" Stevo, Mate no disrespect to any post, but with that budget of £150 you will invite good air rifles "with age and use" or cheap excuses. Save another £150 to make it £300 and its a completely different ball game, (buy cheap buy twice). My advice is look at no other than HW, A Arms. at a higher budget. A 10 year old BMW will not be as good as a 2 year old one "ever" atb

Long Range Aim Points For Crows
mark williams replied to Stoater's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Hi Stoater, Utra SE you say , great rifle.Go headshot only on crows, the ultra wont miss but "you or i might". Take up your usual position and pick out any mark on the tree at about the height the crows are and check your zero is spot on. Air Arms Fields Diablo are an extremely accurate, hard hitting pellet through an Ultra.(Do clean the barrel first mate after using Bisley Magnums if you try them). Good Luck ! -
Weihrauch Hw 100 Kt Or Air Arms S510 Superlite
mark williams replied to jeff 007's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Some of the lads like JSB Exacts, i have used Air Arms Fields Diablo in both .22 and .177 in my 100`s for over two years, "very accurate" and "very hard hitting". atb -
Very interesting post. To my way of thinking and shooting with an air rifle, i want to be as close as i can get to 30/ 35 yards maximum. The "love affair" of over 45 years hunting with sub 12 ft/lb is to be able to get myself within the blessed 35 yards range and is one of the most "unspoken",most essential skills of our air gun hunting, - Field Craft. I love to leave home, take my hunting mad German Short Hair on lead and walk my shoots taking note of what the wildlife is up to. I consider getting natural hides built i

Never seen a mink in my area Doc but i have been told by fishermen that the grey squirrels scream out on a local private canal when they are about. In 45 years of shooting i have not seen one in the Gtr Manchester areas . atb

Thinking Of Giving Up On Pcp's
mark williams replied to logan esq's topic in General Airgun Discussion
PCP rifles like the HW 100`s, regulated Ultras , AA etc are serious hunting rifles with low shot counts for plinking and high shot counts for hunting. Lots of great springers too. The reload of a HW 100/ magazine is faultless, silent and deadly fast with accuracy you would not believe.Stick with the PCP for hunting ( pfff), and use the springer as required (((TWANNNNNNNG ! ))).- Archie One of my mates has a gun shop and nearly all his air rifle sales are pcp.- in .177 !!! His springer sales ( 15%) are mostly .177 too Hope it -
Diana/milbro G80 .22 Project
mark williams replied to Adrian Kenny's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
We used to shoot on the local tip as youths around the summer of 1976. I had either the BSA Mercury or Airsporter,Kev` had the old HW 35, Big Bird had the Diana G80. Many a rat was shot with the G80 as was with the others, - memories of the fun we had. Looking good Ade. atb -

Hi mate take a look at best zero range in the search engine option - all is there. (top right on this page).

Good points from all corners, fact is, we are all painting different pictures in our minds eye. Nothing will ever detract my way of thinking - shot in the head perfectly,- "DEAD" in any calibre. HW 77 in .22 at just 23 yds was it ? it was dead ! "full stop" ! Respect to the follow up scenarios as anyone would be concerned. Clear conscience Simon but we all hear/ respect each others thoughts (i hope).
