  1. HW 100 (by far) in my humble opinion. atb
  2. Hi Arran, i`m currently thinking which springer myself and through all my experience and many other spring rifle shooters i have asked HW stands out, along with Air Arms - or have you chosen your gun by now ? atb
  3. Thank you lads for all the advice and experiences. Big Mac 380 odd crows in 3 days with a Pro Sport - no wonder you rate them so highly (superb shooting Mac ).I am on hold now until i shoulder the pro sport and shoot it down at my local range. The HW77 is an outstanding rifle and the HW 97 is - i`m slowly getting there. Simon - you know your springers/ competition well mate and yes the 77 is well up my list. So i`ll try them all down at my range now as i know the lads have these rifles. All the best to you
  4. Hi all, I`m considering putting a springer into my cabinet with my HW 100`s. My choice of springer is down to HW 77 and 97 and also the TX 200 mk3 - all in .177 cal. Cant seem to find out though if the TX 200 mk3 comes from the factory with the 12 groove Lothar Walther barrel as the AA Pro Sport does (also a gun in consideration). TX is very heavy scoped up but that is exactly what i want for hide/ shooting stick hunting. The TX is right up there at 11.7 ft/lbs with top drawer accuracy to boot. atb
  5. Hi Jocky, Any pellet, any calibre to the head means dead. I agree with Timmy, flat head accuracy is not good. atb
  6. Shooting Mac . So. so underestimated the .177 cal mate. You are the same as me - all those years on .22. Well the remaining years wont. Sat under a good sitty tree for three sessions now and taken 14 wood pigeon and 5 carrion crows (head shots) with 3 misses (wind) its the Indian i use . Not shot a Scorpion yet but my mates rate them well. atb
  7. All the best guys/ gals and a very happy new year
  8. A question many will want an answer to is - will thoroughly cooking rabbit kill any tapeworm present or is it a case of avoid like the plague ? atb
  9. Hi mate, I hunt with AA Fields diablo ( 8.4 g) and also use this pellet at my range. When i first used my HW 100 kt .177 it gave out 11.2 ft/lbs and now it gives a very steady 11.4 after a years shooting,(several thousand shots ). 5p size groups are very achievable with this pellet. atb
  10. I have Roger Philips "Wild Food" which covers Mushroom foraging very well but also covers many wild plants, sea shore, wines, wild medicine etc, etc, etc. You should be able to check it out on Amazon or such like,- excellent book. atb.

  16. Check all the stock screws are nipped up tight - makes a big difference. atb
  17. Hi mate, Great set of very knowledgeable, friendly lads around here and they all "bounce off" each other. atb and a big "welcome"
  18. Shooting VM .177 eh - great calibre . atb
  19. Shooting Bunny , Out of interest mate what calibre were you using? atb
  20. Ditto with VM but i will say that my HW 100 .177 is used a lot more than my HW 100 in .22 simply because i hide shoot a lot and to thread a head shot through spindle branches is far more achievable in .177.( flat trajectory). I find that what ever the calibre used - head shot is dead shot. atb
  21. Any of the hw 100 range mate .(Whichever shoulders best for you) Same as VM and other lads - thats why i have two also , in .22 and .177. (just my humble opinion) atb.
